First, the folding knife:

CRKT comes out of the box sharper than any other knife I’ve ever owned. They’re touchy, open easy, and lock solid when opened.
Now, you mentioned you want a “survival knife.” Honestly, I would t but a folder. Or, better yet, I’d buy a folder for EDC and then a fixed-blade for your Bug Out Bag. My recommendation there is simple:

This beast is basically a razor sharp pry-bar. It’s as tough as knives get. 5.25” blade and 10.5” overall. I highly urge you to get this feller. It comes in like 3 or 4 blade styles, so if you’re looking at the like I posted, click the blue “Ka-Bar” link right above the knife’s images on the left side; you can view all their knives there.
Anyhow, just my thoughts and recommendations off of experience. I’ve owned Buck, CRKT, Ka-Bar, Ontario Knife Co, and Esee... all had their positives but the two I linked to, take the cake every time!!
