I use the optical out on a Sonos Connect attached to a Bluetooth transmitter to listen on my Bluetooth headphones. It's fine for music, where the delay doesn't matter, but don't expect to be able to use it for tv/video, as the audio will be way out of sync. It works great. This is the transmitter that I bought: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B016NIOOH2/

Also, having the Connect has allowed me to rig up a turntable to play across the Sonos system. Works like a charm.

We connect 4 Bluetooth headphones at the same time for a few of our tests. To do so, we use 2x https://www.amazon.com/MEE-audio-Universal-Headphone-Transmitter/dp/B016NIOOH2, and a Y splitter connected to a line out. Not the most user friendly solution but it works.

Bluetooth doesn't work that way, the fire tv would need two separate BT radios for that to work. The best you'll get would likely be something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Technica-AT-PHA05BT-Bluetooth-Headphone-Amplifier/dp/B0065V9TXC

It's a BT headphone amp- so you'd set this up to be the BT "headphones" for the FTV, then use a headphone splitter to feed two pairs of wired headphones.

If you have a headphone out from your speaker system or TV (depending on how things are set up) you could go headphone out to one of these which has dual BT radios for 2 sets of BT headphones: https://www.amazon.com/MEE-audio-Universal-Headphone-Transmitter/dp/B016NIOOH2

Note: I have used none of these products, but they appear to be two examples of workarounds for your scenario. Best of luck!

I recently did exactly that to use my QC35s. I got the MEE Audio Connect:

There is lag, but it's only really noticeable if you have your TV speakers on at the same time and listen to both at once.

I also wouldn't be recommending it if you hadn't specified using a optical connection—I tried analogue first, and the audio quality and lag were both awful. With optical though, I've been using this setup for most of my gaming for the past few months and I find it very convenient.

So, with the holidays and all it took a while. Basically, you can do it. The first device I got to work was an mpow unit, but I had to combine some splitters and a powered digital audio to regular converter to make it work. The delay, however, was untenable. -- But then, for Christmas, I was gifted this (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B016NIOOH2?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00) which works perfectly. Very slight delay, cured by the tv settings.

I have a solution that will not be broken by updates from Sony (as far as I can imagine)
An optical\TOSLINK audio to Bluetooth transmitter.

*Note that this is only to stream game audio to your Bluetooth headset and NOT for mic INPUT.

I bought a TosBlue-x from http://telme2.com/. They are based in Norway so shipping times will be a little long. It has 3.5mm and optical audio inputs, and outputs to Bluetooth with aptx for low latency audio.

I have not used it for the PS4, but have tested with other optical output devices and don’t see why it wouldn’t work for the PS4 since its taking audio from the toslink connector and has nothing to do with the PS4s ridiculous Bluetooth restrictions. I paired it with my Sony MDR-XT950BT without any issues. If I power off the transmitter, I've had to repair it every time I power it back on (minor inconvenience). (Will test with PS4 soon to curb any doubts)

Since then I've found a gadget on Amazon that achieves the same thing, but can transmit to two headset for less than the cost of the TosBlue-X.

MEE transmitter - I have not used this but in theroy, it should work, assuming your headset can pair to it and support its profiles.

Best of all, you can source the optical audio (or 3.5mm if you must) out from your TV, so you can transmit all TV sounds to your headset instead of just the PS4!!

For mic input, just plug in the included headset and hang it on your neck or from your ear or something.

There's already plenty of BT transmitters with AptX-LL support, from USB ones for PC/Mac use, to models more suited for home theater use with optical input and the ability to stream to two headphones simultaneously, and even USB-C stuff meant for the Nintendo Switch...

I dunno how adaptive AptX stacks up latency-wise, seems like a riff on the variable bitrate ability of LDAC but I've not seen a lot of transmitters with LDAC either and that's been out longer... So it might be a while for adaptive AptX. AptX-LL works more than fine for TV watching or gaming tho...
