Good rechargeable batteries are definitely the better option. Usable in multiple devices and last longer.
The Amazon Basics rechargeables are supposed to be reskinned Eneloops at a much better price. I own both and can't tell much difference. Any battery charger will pretty much do the trick, but I don't like going cheap when it comes to the charger; don't want to ruin your batteries or burn your house down. I bit the bullet and bought an intelligent charger so I can charge fast and get useful information about the batteries as I charge them.
Note the Ikea branded batteries are also supposed to be reskinned Eneloops, but I noticed they are harder to get in and out of the 360 controllers compared to others. They are my favorites but I avoid using them in my 360 because of the issue.
