Thanks for sharing this. I haven't been training as much as you but I've been using a Pink Rhino Laser Catridge and the G-Sight Laser Training Pro app (iTunes or Google Play Store). and have been getting some better results myself using the shot timer in the app. I went with this solution as it was the cheapest.

Will give the website link a good read later today and look into the books.

Much appreciated!

I feel you. I've noticed that each one that comes on the news, personally it just seems realer every time...or maybe I'm just getting more and more tired of it.

I just want to emphasize training. Drills and drills and drills and drills. A few things that I've found handy in my spare time focus around three drills outside of actual shooting:

  1. Garment clearance - have your setup the way you choose to carry and focus on the draw and getting it raised to meet a target. Do this at varying distances.

  2. First shot - use a tactical laser light to get a first trigger pull and train that muscle memory to hit the vital area. Varying distances. You can also throw in a low shot where the pistol is well below shoulder height.

  3. Movement - first shot + movement. Focus on a direction and move after you get that first shot at the target. Three to five steps w/ the pistol at the ready.

No obscene range time requirement and no high ammunition cost. Free training that you can get better at, that will get you more familiar with your setup, let you know that you can get your gun into the fight and will partially translate to the real world. Obviously, do time on the range.

Take in mind, I'm not a professional -- I just think these things are basic good to practice fundamentals. If someone else is recommending a more thorough curriculum, I would defer to their recommendation if it was more exhausting on the core skills. If you choose to do dry fire drills, just be safe about it. Lots of administrative handling..
