Cycling is the best - my favourite exercise aswell, and I also have a steep incline on my way home :)
If you want to kick your game up a notch, I highly recommend Shimano Click'R pedals and shoes.
The pedals have bindings on only one side, so the other you can ride with regular shoes. The shoes have a binding on the sole that clicks into the pedal and fixes you - enabling you to not only push the pedal, but also pull it on the way up. I promise you the ass of the century! You can also go uphill faster and more easily, and learn to cycle in proper form. You can get your seat adjusted to your proper height as your feet are on the same spot 100% of the time. It's glorious :D
The shoes are not as stiff as other click'r shoes, you can walk in them pretty much normally. The click'r system on the pedal releases very easily - I've been riding for a year and never fell. It's a game changer.
