They make them in 3 length sizes. But not different widths that I am aware of. I think if your studs are wider apart than 16 inches you could first add some 2x4 pieces as a shim to the studs to bring the space between back to 16” spacing.

There are 4 screw holes that go from inside the cabinet into the studs. The screws that are included aren’t the best, and I used some of my own.

I found them on Amazon, Walmart and Home Depot.

  2. I have a 2 and 4 year old. I use this, mounted high in the wall, and I keep the key close. (I found it on Amazon for $49 at one time. Looks to be $20 more now).
