I've found the Wahl Percussion massager to do just fine. I've been down the rabbit hole of percussion massagers and this was what I settled on - and my budget was up to $300.
There are some interesting massagers out there. I remember going through the pictures and coming across one that was like:
Picture 1 - cordless massager
Me: Ok, that looks good
Picture 2 - different vibration patterns
Me: Ok, that's cool. Don't really need that but a little change could be nice
Picture 3 - 100% waterproof
Me: I mean if I need to use a massage oil on my legs with it, then I'll be okay but that seems like overkill
Picture 4 - Man's head between a women's legs with lacy stockings on
Me: This isn't the massager I'm looking for.
Yes! I have a ton of scar tissue in my back and I've been working it out by myself using this tool: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00BTYYCKK/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
My scar tissue is so hard and so thick that physical therapists can't work it out, but I've been able to work it out slowly with this device. Highly recommend it. The different nozzles are also great for different types of pain.
A [back massager] (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00BTYYCKK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_uNjZzbB8NQ9K6) Oh my, it's the best.
This is the one I got, it’s waaayyyy cheaper and very effective.

Keto actually reduced my joint inflammation naturally, which was great. Several major muscle groups are still so fucking tight, but I haven't yet found a magical cure. However:
Edit: Here is the massager I bought. I love the different attachments. This thing is fucking great.
That's nuts....I would recommend this handheld vibrator instead

This one! Price went down, but it's currently out of stock.

The percussion massager, from personal experience (though foam rollers are so cheap you can just buy both and try them both).
Buying a foam roller, it helped. In one specific case it helped a lot, I was able to get rid of a nagging pain in my thigh that had been bothering me for almost a year with the foam roller. But, like a lot of these things, it didn't seem to improve anything after like 4-5 times of using it.
I've been doing soft tissue work to improve my posture and get rid of my "tight strong thighs, dead glutes and hamstrings" issues. I bought a percussion massager. I have to say that this is after spending significant time figuring out how to mentally get new muscles to activate and have a general idea of what should be working that's not. And I follow up massage by time in the pool, doing additional stuff.
But I bought a percussion massager. It is a goddamn miracle. It is fantastic. I bought the "Wahl 4290-300 Deep -Tissue Percussion Therapeutic Massager" from amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00BTYYCKK/
It's apparently not the most durable, but for $30 you can just buy a new one if your first breaks. It's also like 2 feet long.
It's been practically a miracle for me. I don't want to make it sound like you just buy one and it's magic, because it's taken a whole lot of learning and work to get it to work, but for me - it's been fantastic. My glutes actually contract and contribute to work now, they don't just sit there being a connecting piece between overly strong thighs and lower back.
I'd definitely go with the percussion massager, from personal experience.
Bought one of these cheap massagers recently. I use it more for running muscle issues than back muscle issues, but it has helped with both. Incredibly powerful and helpful.
After reading that thread about Theragun, I've been researching the percussive therapy options to deal with soreness. Foam rollers and post-workout static stretching are supposed to help too. But $600 for the top of the line Theragun option made me look at the alternatives. The first thing I'm going to try is this Wahl corded option, since I don't strictly need a cordless option for home use, for less than $30 to see how it does. From a video I saw it doesn't look like it has a stroke length as long as the Theragun, but if it is effective anyway I'm not sure how much that would matter.
But yes it is miserable to have to wait 4 days to recover from a hard workout, and some of these longer bodyweight workouts are quite taxing.
Buy in November to take advantage of the extended holiday return policy.

it's a bit heavier, but worth the weight
So that bottom link shows this:

$27... any reason why I should go that route? Other than I have to plug it in? But that isn't a deal breaker to me.
> I can't use any objects like vibrator, etc., as they are illegal from where I live.
Really? Because lots of things vibrate and work just fine:
You can buy an electric toothbrush and hold the base against your clit.
Or get a "Shiatsu Pillow Massager."
Or a "Swedish massager."
Or a "Deep Tissue Handheld Muscle Massager" like this or like this.
Or a showerhead extension with a pulse setting.
None of these things look like sex toys, and all of them have other perfectly legitimate functions.

^^ this is a lifesaver.
re: ribs: when you turn/twist your body, turn your whole torso together. do not leave your bellybutton behind. i get costochondritis and weird rib stuff and if i forget these rules and move "normally", it triggers pain.
so glad to be of help :)
foam rolling, massaging back / legs with this whenever possible, yoga on off days.. and above all making sure I sleep well every night for 6-8 hours.
