If he wants to use it for an actual Xbox 360, then no, this will not work. This controller is made to be used with a computer, not a console. Even if this was made for a console, I would still look into investing a few more bucks into a real Microsoft brand controller. Knock-off brands will bring nothing but trouble. I would suggest something like this.
