🎓 Reddit experts on salt shakers
The comments and opinions expressed on this page are written exclusively by redditors. To provide you with the most relevant data, we sourced opinions from the most knowledgeable Reddit users based the total number of upvotes and downvotes received across comments on subreddits where salt shakers are discussed. For your reference and for the sake of transparency, here are the specialists whose opinions mattered the most in our ranking.
Woot! Did it without adding anything new to my wishlists/linking to nonwishlisted items :D
1.) Something that is grey.
2.) Something reminiscent of rain.
3.) Something food related that is unusual.
4.) Something on your list that is for someone other than yourself.
Tell me who it's for and why. (Yes, pets count!): It's for my roommate because I can't cook to save my life >_<
5.) A book I should read! I am an avid reader, so take your best shot and tell me why I need to read it! That or anything else my Elizibeth Hand- she is amazing. I also highly recommend her wonderful novel on mental illness, Generation Loss
6.) An item that is less than a dollar, including shipping... that is not jewelry, nail polish, and or hair related! $1.35 was the best I could do
7.) Something related to cats. I love cats! (keep this SFW, you know who you are...)
8.) Something that is not useful, but so beautiful you must have it. Both needlessly fancy brads and a coloring book (as if I weren't about to start the semester full time in a couple days. Heh. Leisure time. LOL, that's so cute.)
9.)
A movie everyone should watch at least once in their life. Why? I didn't add any movies onto my wishlist because I have Netflix and I never watch the DVD's I have. But everyone should watch Fight Club, The Daparted, Memento, Requiem for a Dream, Night of the Living Dead, and- most importantly, The Lost Skeleton of Cadavra. Go watch it now! To fulfill the scavenger part of the contest somehow, here is a tchotchke from my favorite TV show ever, which has spawned 12 movies, most of which you should see.So I could be all cheesy and pick a movie that most people have for the most points, like Avatar, Harry Potter, Pirates of the Caribbean, etc, but you know what's more important than winning contests? Revelling in the cinematic beauty that is The Lost Skeleton of Cadavra! Los Skeleton is literally the funniest movie I've ever seen. I remember my abs hurt so bad afterwards from laughing so hard for so long. My friends and I got all these inside jokes that we still use today, ten years later, that still crack us up.
Well, now that I've played it up to a standard that no movie could ever live up to (I'm sorry, I meant no movie except The Lost Skeleton of Cadavra!) so that you'll surely be underwhelmed by it, regardless of the cinematic masterpiece that it is, all I can say is, "Enjoy!"
10.) Something that would be useful when the zombies attack.
Explain.
Because destroy the brain, kill the ghoul, of course.
11.) Something that would have a profound impact on your life and help you to achieve your current goals.. There were a couple of items I could have put here instead: a die cutting machine, an accordion (want. SO. bad!!), a Chromebook, but I think what would really bestow the greatest impact on my life and help further my goals would be a serger. My birthday was a week ago and someone asked me what I wanted to happen this new year for me. I ended up writing a journal page about it, and one of the things was to improve my costuming skills and to finally take them to a professional level that I can be proud of distributing.
12.) One of those pesky Add-On items. So pesky that I made an entire wishlist just for add-ons
13.) The most expensive thing on your list. Your dream item. Why? I love the accordion and I've wanted one for years. I can't explain why. Or Jason Webley is why. Whichever answer you prefer.
14.) Something bigger than a bread box. Hello!
15.) Something smaller than a golf ball.
16.) Something that smells wonderful. I love this stuff!
17.) A (SFW) toy. I apparently have a bunch and they're all in Hebrew. I don't even speak Hebrew O_o
18.) Something that would be helpful for going back to school.
19.) Something related to your current obsession, whatever that may be.. Mixing two of my obsessions and one love all together: scrapbooking, washi tape, and steampunk. Yes.
20.) Something that is just so amazing and awe-inspiring that I simply must see it. Explain why it is so grand.
I don't know if the grandness of Cthulhu slippers needs to be explained. It's Cthulhu...but slippers! :D
Your Name Is Bonus: How about some super good-for-you Melissa supplements?
Oregon Bonus: "harvested in the waters right off the Oregon Coast."
fear cuts deeper than swords. I live you contest idea- this was really fun to do. Thanks! :D
These are the only kinds of gifts I really like. Unless it's something non-practical that I really, really want or is very thoughtful(like, a video game that just came out or the couple of times I've received meaningful jewelry), I'm very happy to receive things like kitchen appliances I need or socks or even grocery store gift cards.
However, some girls don't like it. It really depends on how your girlfriend is, and you know her best. I'd think if she's moving out, something like a Kitchenaid mixer for her new place would be a very welcome gift if she likes to cook. Not sure if you were looking to spend that much though. I know I pretty much died when I opened the box and saw mine. You could also go for something decorative, kind of in between practical/typical gift territory and keep it cheaper. I like to give salt and pepper shakers, everyone uses them and they can be cute and quirky. Some examples: 1 2 3 4
oh my gosh. placeholder so i can work on this after my kids get to bed. excited!<3 you guys and your contests! I'm back!!Morthy demands
Akeleie demands
SO. MANY. THINGS, haha. Half my wishlist is things for my house.
I'm just going to link a bunch of cool things real quick, just to give you an idea of whats out there and what you can get. And since you mentioned plungers...this ones first
Pirate skull plunger! It goes back and forth between being unavailable to available but it's a pretty nifty way to deck out an otherwise boring house item!
Melting Clock Is a hella sweet, very Alice in Wonderland-y!
An umbrella because everyone needs one of those, and this one just happens to have the bonus of looking like a samurai sword.
A scooby doo mystery machine salt and pepper shaker I actually own this one, it is so cool. Magnets connect the two parts together! (they actually have a bunch of different ones as well, not just scooby doo but Looney tunes, etc.)
Annnd speaking of loony tunes, they have baking pans shaped like characters that you can do all sorts of things with-bake, freeze, etc.
And as for me, the thing I'd like to stock my house with are these because who doesn't want gargoyle computer speakers? (particularly if you're like me, and are attempting to have a haunted mansion themed living room.)
Gorruck 34L GR2 Coyote Tan - a good bag, heavy, uncomfortable, probably give it to my grandchildren in like 50 years
Flip Flops - generic things
Bigblue 28W solar charger - very good, can charge my battery up during the day if i leave it in the sun which I've never really done honestly
Jakemy hardware tools - seamed useful? i've never needed this
Army glove shells - i thought i used these a lot and were indistructable but now that i think of it, i don't use them that often and are probably pretty cheaply made.
Sharpie, pen, all weather notebook - probably should switch over to a fisher space pen...
Straws - these are probably already broken.
Whistle - really really really loud
Fire-striker, matches, lighter - i'm not sure i have enough ways to start a fire
Fresnel lens - ok, now i have enough
LED flashlight - i used to go running in the middle of the night with this flashlight, its tiny
LED flashlight - this isn't the one i have but looks kinda similar? i don't remember where i got mine
Earbuds - generic cheap earbuds
Leatherman Surge - given to me by my wife for passing the bar. thanks wife!
First Aide kit - i put mine together from stuff i've stolen from friends houses whenever i go over and use the bathroom
playing cards - these look very similar to the ones i have, they are plastic so they won't get rained on
glasses/ sunglasses - i have really bad vision
personal hygiene kit - aahhhh dry shaving
Sawyer Mini / syringe, collapsible canteen (dirty), heavy duty straw - i've never used this
collapsible canteen (clean) - i've never used this either
sewing kit - i've used this a lot
ID tags - i guess if i get blown up they'll know my blood type?
garbage bag - for when my pockets are full
elastic bands - i use these when packing to keep rolled socks and things from falling apart
Salt - i have nooooo idea why i have this
cooking grate - i'm not going to hold meat over a fire with a stick like some sort of caveman
heavy duty ziplock bag - in case my mapcase breaks and other reasons
rip-patch - leftover from when i needed a pack because i bought a crummy cheap inflatable sleeping pad.
Army Fleece Beanie - i always keep this at the top of my pack
4 Bungie Cords - not the one i use but similar. to make a field-expedient shelter
Trowel - for disposal of biological wastes
Lensatic compass - because GPS should only be a backup
Pocketboy 130 folding saw - i have a bigger one for yardwork, this small one is really great
Tent stakes - for tent staking
Ravpower 26800 Battery - use this all the time can fast chage my stuff
Battery Battery holder, cables, wall charger - all fits togehter like glove!
Army Poncho - wear it, make a tent out of it etc
Microfiber towel - not the one i use but similar. i mainly use this for when the kids accidentally fall in a lake like they tend to do for some reason
Down Jacket - cheap chinese knockoff... i feel bad for not buying american
Wet weather top - not sure this is worth the space/weight
Wet Weather bottom - not sure if this is worth the weight/space
Silkweights - PJs! and warmth
Jungle Blanket - this is a lot better than the army's woobie. lighter and warmer
Gransfors Bruks Wildlife Hatchet - again, gift from wife. she wanted me to chop things and be more manly, generally. now i come home with parts of wildlife for her to cook
Map of New England - or, how i stopped worrying and love dismounted land navigation
PT belt - keeps me safe in all situations
Compression straps - i don't like lashing things to the outside but i guess i can if i wanted to
Fork and Spoon - stole these from the kitchen. i'll probably be replacing this soon with something titanium.

EDIT: i just priced it out: $1,585.08 total
Most "oh god, I would never be seen with this in public" looking item: Spectra Specs

All items are on my main wishlist. :)
she won't hit you, I hope. I think she will be thrilled.
if i win i would love these bear salt-n-pepper shakers. i actually want to give them to my little sister as part of her wedding present. she works in the national parks and is about to graduate in forestry, so these would be a sweet gift for her. I can't believe my little sis is getting married. Anyway, I digress.
If I win the loser raffle, any of the mp3's on my list would be great. Thanks for this contest! I want to play that Hobbit lego game myself and I wouldn't hit you.

Marston
I have two, so I'll post both here. THANKS! :) This, if I'm a winner
When I was a bit younger, I traveled extensively. I would make friends via the internet, and then stay with them for a night, or a few, or sometimes travel with them to other places.
On one of these road trips, I was heading to southern VA to meet a friend, and I had to pee, so I pulled off at a rest stop in (I think) Delaware (or Maryland). There was a couple parked next to me, and it seemed like maybe they had been arguing or something bad had happened, because the girl was crying and the guy was trying to calm her down.
I do my business, and return to my car, the couple is still there. The guy called out to me as I was getting into my car. He was very polite, and said "Excuse me". He explained that they were traveling back home, and had taken the wrong exit onto the wrong highway and by they time they realized their mistake and turned around, their gas tank was dangerously low. They made it to the rest stop, but had no money for gas. I offered to call AAA, but I was already aware that they would only give about a gallon of gas to get to a gas station. They asked if I could help them out, so I grabbed a 20, and handed it to them (This was back when $20 could pretty much fill a tank).
I swear, I have never seen anyone's eyes light up so bright. They both thanked me profusely, and I think even offered to mail me cash when they got home. I declined, and told them to have a safe trip.
This one is tied with another one from last Winter. (I'll pop it in here as a little bonus)
SO and baby and I were at the local craft store putzing around last January, we had finished what we were doing and headed to the parking lot. There was an elderly woman milling about, asking people a question, and repeatedly being turned away. She approached us, and asked if we could give her a ride to her home, because she had missed her bus and the next one wasn't for an hour. It was like 20 degrees outside, and after making sure it was cool with SO, we agreed. As it turned out, she lived in the next "major" (I'm using the term lightly) city about half an hour away. She told us she and her husband had moved here from a ways away (I forget what state, but it wasn't nearby) because he was ill, and the best treatment for him was here. She was so grateful, I always wonder how she's doing whenever I go to that store.
I'm going to link something from /u/tyara83 's WL. She sent me a git card today. Went to the front page of RAOA, and here she had done the same thing for 19 other people! The saddest (or perhaps, best!) part was, while her username sounded vaguely familiar, I really didn't know her at all.
This sub is growing sooooo quickly that even though I spend way more time on here than I should, I feel like there are so many awesome people I've barely scratched the surface of getting to know. So this contest (awesome idea, btw) was the perfect opportunity to learn more about her.
So Tyara has been here for just a little over a month, and has already been so super generous. Her Intro is freaking awesome, and that alone told me she's my kind of gal (another grown-up who refuses to act their age - lol). Then, I went to her WL and HOLY CRAP!! It is filled with so much fun awesomeness, including this freaking crazy cool Scooby Doo salt and pepper shaker set.
So thanks again for a wonderful idea for a contest, kirakaydawn, and tyara83, I am looking so forward to getting to know you better here! :)
Nice, nice... But I think I'm going to treat myself to this bad-boy some time! 11 ratings, all 5 stars. It's bloody expensive, but I really like food and cooking, and I appreciate things which are designed to perfection so I think it'll be worth it.
I'm not really entering your contest or anything, but from looking at your wishlists, you seem like you need this in your life. :D
Also probably this.
BTW, JTHM is the shiz. Glad to see someone else still likes those comics!
Also, just for shits and giggles, here's something that's under $5 Because everyone could use some neat lights in their life.
Happy Zambambo!
Here's some owl salt and pepper shakers I would love to have!
Happy birthday! So many March babies!!!!
Happy Birthday m'dear!
These are pretty adorable and funny :D
Hey, /u/skinslip1 and /u/intoxikate....come enter
You will probably need a shower curtain, and this one I think is super cute. And no home would be complete with out salt and peper shakers, also very cute :)
I save money by getting all my produce at a farmers market and preplanning meals, so I don't go over budget on food. Also, shopping hungry is a bad idea.
I bought these I'm not sure in their are 3/4" but what I like is they are flexible enough to fit slightly irregular hand made holes. http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B009Z2E0SC?cache=e5353992cf65f22d3ccdb4b799a644c4&pi=AC_SX110_SY165_QL70&qid=1411935089&sr=8-4#ref=mp_s_a_1_4
i have a few suggestions. one - two - (maybe you'd like this? three - four - five - six - seven that's something i would love! - eight - i have something maybe you and your husband might like, him and you - this or this - nine - and finally ten
and here's a few more because i'm having so much fun. and this
Happy birthday!!!
These are totally goofy grin inducing.
I know I'm super late but I found them on Amazon. Hopefully this link works.
Streamline Mushroom Salt & Pepper Shakers https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003CUZCN0/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_i_74DFDbVWBGAKV
I think the both of us should get salt and pepper shakers. I don't know about you, but I don't own salt and pepper shakers. If you don't have any, you should get them. If you do, well you need to get some like the shakers I may own someday.
Pasta Primavera, favorite salad greens with homemade vinaigrette dressing, garlic bread, and fruit sorbet for dessert.
This would be nice for cooking
Thank you.
I vote for these! I know they're available on the US website too and they are very cool.
Happy nearly birthday!
You and I are in the same boat! I'm moving into a new apartment in a totally new city (and state) to go to grad school. This is the first official kitchen that is my own and I'd loove to get these cute little salt and pepper shakers.
How easy was that?
A different kind of "sprinkle"... This counts, right? :)
TITTY SPRINKLES and thank you!
My husband loves his new job and I can continue to be a stay at home mom. Baby's upper respiratory infection isn't serious because I vaccinated her! Yay!
item
There are seriously so many cute salt and peper shakers in the world! We just got these, because we think it's hilarious and we want to see some of our big manly friends using them. We may be slightly evil. And...I may have a thing for owls too.
Can we be BFFs now!? ;)
Very cool. You can buy them through Amazon.
