(Part 2) Reddit mentions: The best shorts for men

I want to buy an Amazon Essentials Men's slim fit short. I just have one problem though, and that is that I've never really bought shorts so I don't know what size to get. I'm pretty small (5'5) and a size 28 on the waist Levi jeans fit me well. With this info what size should I get?

I just bought these shorts from Amazon. They have a really nice stretch. They look similar to Chubbies/Bear Bottoms for a better price.

I've had good luck with Levi's squad cargo shorts. I bought one of every kind that they had last summer (no that doesnt count the hideous blue and red ones) and they are the only cargo shorts I will ever wear.

The thing in the past I worry about no show socks though is that my ankles are EXTREMELY small. Like my calves are fairly small but my ankles are tiny, and in the past, I admittedly have been a little self conscious because once a friend said "man, your legs are so skinny!" back when I was 110 pounds about 2 years ago. I'm still fairly skinny, but maybe no show socks won't work for me yet until I finish my bulk. I'm kind of just ranting here but I honestly don't think I can make no show socks work, at least yet.

Dad and former punk/goth here. I don't wear shorts a lot so I just picked up some Penguin stretch like these the other day. If you're going to stick with cargo shorts, I would go with some that have non-poofy pockets. Something like these Prana or these Buffalo.

I bought two pairs on Amazon last week, and they're actually pretty high quality. This is it. Amazon is both a blessing and a curse.

I like those seersucker ones. I'm not a fan of khaki in general, how about a nice navy? These are cheap too.

Anyone know of any similar shorts to these? Slightly anti-frugal but would prefer to buy from a non-Amazon with better quality. Looking for something with a slim leg profile (not baggies), 7" or so inseam, nylon/canvas with an elastic waistband. Preferably blacks & grays

I'm looking for a navy blue belt. The kind that usually comes with mens cargo shorts. It's fabric and has two metal rings to fasten the belt in place.

Am I better off just buying some shorts from Amazon that have the belt $22 or is there a place to get them cheap? Also, is there a name that describes this kind of fabric belt?

Have you tried Amazon? These look pretty close and have Prime shipping available.

My favorites are the Billabong Crossfire Submersibles. They're perfect for hot, humid weather and you can swim in them. Much cheaper than Outliers (~$50). Even though the fabric is synthetic, there isn't the swishing you'll find in other similar shorts. The only downside is they have a glued-on logo on the left thigh, but I pulled that off without damaging the fabric underneath.

You won't be getting the best price or quality but if you have to buy on Amazon they have J Crew Mercantile options.

Does it really matter what you mother wants? You are in your 20s. You work. Go buy mens summer clothes and wear them. She doesn't have to like it.

If you don't want shorts you could get some 3/4 joggers and some blank T shirts. Around me I usually get some Gildan T's for a few bucks each. link

Didnt have any luck in physical stores, but bought these about 2 years ago and i really like them. The front pockets are kinda shallow but it has zipper pockets on both sides that are big. I removed the belt it comes with and use a regular belt.
