What kind of socks? People are throwing around suggestions but they don't know what kind of socks you're looking for/interested in. Smartwool boot socks aren't something I'd wear with formal or even semi-formal brogue shoes, for example.

If you're looking for just regular socks that might go well with a pair of nice shoes, I'd highly recommend Robert Graham. Excellent, super unique designs that are nearly pieces of art and they're made from Pima cotton (Peruvian cotton). If you're looking for formal socks with pizzaz, I'd highly recommend Bugatchi. They make some gorgeous socks. If you're looking for something to wear with boots or out in the snow, go with Smartwool.

If budget is an issue but you still want to look dapper, search Aliexpress for these terms: Happy Socks, Stance Socks, Fashion socks. Typically range from $1 to $4 per pair, but you get basically really well made knock-offs of those well known brands. I don't even think they're knock-offs, I think they're unauthorized pieces since they're made at the same factory (off hours) and sold on the side.

I love socks. The bigger, thicker and taller the better. Even in SoCal in the summertime I'm wearing thick socks because the way I see it my feet will sweat no matter what and I might as well have them in quality fabric with good moisture.

The apaches are ankle high? They look similar to my iron rangers.

Timberland makes a tall boot sock that I really enjoy. Also, got some tall boot socks from Muji when I was in NYC last.
Carhartt socks I've found are super great as well. Strong, thick cushioning and a nice length. My last recommendation is Powersox. These are fantastic. I've had a few pairs for a couple of years now and while I have patched a few small holes, they are holding up well in the elastic region.

Looking good is just about getting well fitting clothing. Get dress pants that break at the shoe, fit well in the waist. A slightly slimmer cut is the norm now. Too tight in the waist and the pockets will stick out. Make sure the shirts fit in the shoulders and your sleeves come down to just below where your wrist flexes when at your side. You can darts added so the waist is slimmer easily, and small changes to the sleeve length. Larger changes to the sleeve length mean adjusting the shoulder and the shoulders are a lot more expensive to get adjusted. I would get rubber soles on your leather shoes unless you specifically need leather soles, the rubber lasts longer on concrete and gets better grip in wet weather. Depending on your body shape and the fit of your shirts you may want to get shirt stays. They seem ridiculous until you wear then and your shirt stays tucked in with minimal effort all day.

With a business professional dress code you are almost always expected to wear dress shoes, dress pants, a solid colored dress shirt with a tie and jacket. Suits have a lot of tradition and expectation, but if you get something that fits in the shoulders most of the rest will fit. Get something in charcoal or navy or dark grey. Do not wear a black suit for work. Business professional is purposefully very conservative. Business casual generally allows casual pants, chinos, more varied foot wear including most footwear in neutral colors, dress shirt, button down, polo, or sweaters. Generally a wider range of colors is acceptable for business casual than business professional, but it depends on the dress code where you work. Most of the above advice applies to either dress code

For something outside of the expected, you can get a long sleeve polo http://www.kentwang.com/polos/rugby-light-blue-900.html Depending on where you work a darker jean could be acceptable. You can wear any dress socks you want. Don't wear white athletic socks. Bright pink and yellow polka dot socks are fine. Some will disagree with this advice and insist on socks matching trousers but I say full steam ahead and get some boat anchor socks. http://www.amazon.com/Yellow-Nautical-Boating-Anchors-Dress/dp/B00TZB3WFK Get some bolder color shirts, or linen instead of cotton. I would get some more moderate well fitting clothes first, and then work on the rest as you know what you like and make it into your personal style.

I don't know if theres a price limit but I really want this 12 pack of socks If that's too expensive then anything from my <10 or <5 list would be great. Thanks for the cool contest! And yes you look very nice today.

I visit Edmonton for work fairly frequently. Unfortunately this is not the nicest time of the year to visit.

The coat you picked looks ok. On it's own it wont suffice, however with several layers underneath you'll be fine (e.g. base layer like a tank top, long sleeved shirt and thick sweater or hoodie). Here's a couple other options if you would like to skip puffy and layer up: Old Navy, Target, More Target.

If you're unaccustomed to the cold wind, I would not skip the scarf or hat (even with a hood on the jacket). I like circle scarves so you don't have to worry about loose ends blowing around in the wind (did I mention I don't like the cold wind?). As long as the hat covers your head and ears, that's the important part. I'd opt for something like the big floppy toque (you are in Canada after all!)

Combat or Moto boots will not be warm enough on their own; if that's the route you choose to go, ensure you have several pairs of thick wool socks. As another commenter mentioned there will be salt on the road, so be sure to treat your boots with a leather conditioner before you go and clean them when you get back.

Have fun and report back on your adventures!

I don't know what your budget is but I got these randomly with a good deal, despite them being men's and I LOVE these.

They have a bit of rubbery grip so they stay in place but they cover enough foot surface in my opinion to suit sneakers perfectly. Cheap sneaker socks always make my feet feel horrible after a long day but these guys are the bomb.

Link, not sure if it the white or black one but Amazon seems to have both anyway

u/lacroixblue · 1 pointr/femalefashionadvice

My SO swears by Banana Republic tailored slim-fit, non-iron button-downs like this.

Tailored slim fit is a more modern fit. It doesn't balloon out like a lot of men's dress shirts. The quality is good, too.

For dress shoes & belts he likes Jos A. Banks. They're good at putting outfits together. They'll give you the belt, some socks, matching shoes, etc. Once he figures out which shoes he likes, he buys his next pair online.

For socks we go online as it's 1/10 the price. He just got these dress socks and these in assorted stripes & argyle.

Well, obviously, it's much more comfortable and much less sweaty if you buy some invisible socks - not ankle socks; socks which you actually cannot see. I used to wear boat shoes without socks, too, but now I don't anymore, because of the sweaty feet.

I don't know which are the best in America, but I personally use these: http://www.amazon.com/Falke-Step-Invisible-Sock-14625/dp/B006VBSCNY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1397929616&sr=8-1&keywords=falke+invisible+mens+socks

You can also get some pretty good ones at H&M. Try it!

u/sazmat · 1 pointr/streetwear

thank you! they are happy socks optic in grey :) you can get them at amazon for $7 here. i'd also strongly recommend checking out their black iterations of the same pair which are amazing imo.

Oh Hi Mark

The most fun I had on a Spring Break was last year. I love hiking and getting outdoors, so I went with my mom to Crater Lake National Park. It's the most beautiful place I have ever been. Here's some pictures since I couldn't explain it well enough. I study some geology in college too, so going here, where a huge volcano erupted so much magma that it collapsed into itself, creating one of the deepest lakes in North America at 600 meters, was really exciting.

My item. Living in Oregon, you'd think I would have seen the big guy by now!

Beat up boat shoes look better than new boat shoes.

If you really wanted to keep them looking as new as possible for as long as possible, just get a leather cleaner/conditioner and apply, following the directions, once every 2-4 weeks or less. It will keep the leather hydrated, darken it up slightly, but help to clean off dirt that has settled in as well. I do this but only when the leather starts to get scuffed. A less strenuous maintenance would be to just buy a horse hair brush and brush them off every few wears.

About now wearing socks: don't do it. Get cedar shoe trees--they help absorb the moisture and deodorize. I'm pretty sure newspaper also serves the same purpose, but smells nowhere near as beautiful as cedar. Also, boat shoe socks.

Get an Alaskan fur hat. I love these things to hell.

Also get some good boots. And I mean boots that are tall like those. Snow gets deep here, and even though they shovel the path you’re probably gonna have to walk in the snow at some point and you wanna make sure they cuff your jeans so it doesn’t touch your ankles or get inside your boots.

Also get some winter socks to go with the boots Boots don’t always give the best insulation.

Obviously also get a waterproof winter jacket. If it absorbs water then don’t get it, you’ll regret it. I usually wear a hoodie underneath a parka too for some extra insulation and the hoodie is easier to wash than the coat.

Also get some water proof gloves if you’re gonna be outside for long periods of time I wouldn’t recommend getting these for just walking to class because you have pockets you can stick your hands in, but if you’re gonna be outside for a while you’ll want these, and you’ll want them to be waterproof.

Just so you know, I did 0 research on the actual item I linked, I just linked an example. I suggest you look around and find something like it because I can’t guarantee quality for any of those.

Socks are most likely the only solution. I realized I had the smelly-foot syndrome when I started wearing Sperry's without socks. I tried "odor eater" powder and even shoes off often. I ended up buying special, super low-cut socks. Foot problem's improved ever since.

u/srs1978 · 9 pointsr/streetwear

Get some true no show socks and you won't have this issue. The only just hook around the bottom of the foot. - https://www.amazon.com/Stance-Mens-Super-Invisible-Socks/dp/B00603COBE
