  • Seconding /u/joefraz78's recommendation for a headboard. Or, think about upgrading your frame at some point to a something with a headboard; wood could look nice and you could eventually update your other pieces to go with it.

  • Since your bedframe is very utilitarian, and you're storing stuff under it, consider a bedskirt, or a blanket that's one size up from your bed (looks like a full, so a queen blanket).

  • If it wouldn't stick out too far for your tastes, consider rotating the bed 90 degrees so that your head is on the same wall as the dresser, leaving space between the side of the bed and the wall for your nightstand. It will look more intentional and make it easier to make the bed/change the sheets. It might even work slightly better with your TV location.

  • Lighting makes a huge difference. Overhead tends to be the harshest; everything looks better in a soft warm glow. Consider a lamp for your nightstand for reading and general ambiance -- this one has an interesting industrial look and isn't too cheesy. Think about adding a second lamp on top of your dresser, too.

  • If you have the budget for it, think about upgrading that TV stand. No judgment, we all had ones like that in our first apartments too! But a console style with some concealed storage would look more polished.

  • Art! Not sure if you can hang stuff on your walls, but Etsy and the internet are full of gorgeous inexpensive prints. Maps (nautical, star, vintage), minimal black-and-white photography, landscapes -- you name it, it's out there and you can order it. You can get fairly inexpensive frames at a craft store (Michaels, A.C. Moore, whatever you have where you are) to dress them up. If you can't put nails in the walls, Blu-Tack is good for hanging stuff without damaging the piece or the wall.

  • It may seem weird to put a rug on top of wall-to-wall, but it can make your room feel more put-together and cohesive. Plus, you can use it in your next place. Jute is usually pretty inexpensive and comes in various colors (in a small room I'd stick with a light color so as not to overwhelm the space).

  • Clear surfaces make a room feel calmer. If you have somewhere to store the stuff currently on top of your dresser (shoutout to a fellow Cornelia Funke fan), you'll probably feel better every time you walk in. Ditto for the nightstand; I'd tuck away everything you aren't using daily.

  • And finally, the obligatory plant recommendation. If you take some of the ideas above, you'll have a few different places you can put a plant. Succulents are almost impossible to kill.

Just a few suggestions. 1 your tv needs to go up a bit. I like this stand. I hate the tiny feet. It’s easy to attach. Universal Swivel TV Stand/Base Table Top TV Stand 27 to 55 inch TVs 80 Degree Swivel, 4 Level Height Adjustable, Heavy Duty Tempered Glass Base, Holds up to 99lbs Screens, HT04B-001 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07H9PLP48/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_q-J2Db2JB3PCE For the bed. Bed skirts don’t tend to work out. Use a fitted sheet instead. It’ll give a better look at a cheap price. If you decide to get a bed frame you could put your tv on the dresser. A shelving unit might help. I use boxes with lids to keep things uncluttered. Furinno No Tools Tube Entertainment Center, Light Cherry/Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0083IYNSG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_8dK2DbQJ2ZV0S the Furrino is lightweight so I recommend furniture anti tip straps. While these are listed for dvds they are good for organizing. Just some organizing suggestions to get started.

I have been facing the same dilemma, and have been underwhelmed by the Ikea offerings. So far, the best candidates I have found are open shelves like this one, or media consoles with integrated TV stands like this one.
Hope these help, and I'd be curious to see what others recommend!

Quality A/V Racks can be had at decent prices

https://www.amazon.com/Bush-Furniture-AD44840-03-Midnight-Media/dp/B000W8JK5G

I bought it and took a ton of photos of setting it up and installing all my A/V/network/pc gear for my LAN area...

https://imgur.com/a/lzM5T

I agree with you on the reason for A/V racks though. Those huge wall entertainment center behemoths are so 1980/1990s. If it was up to me, I would just do away with it completely, and get a nice clean modern entertainment center like this one. If I needed more A/V space, I would by the A/V rack I mentioned above too.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005HY6R7E/

Here it is installed in my home theater...

u/ajpearman9 · 1 pointr/hometheater

I wanted to buy this entertainment center from Ikea but bought this from Amazon instead.

Amazon one is OK, but you get what you pay for from China. Sorta wish I had done the Ikea one instead, and it would fit your wood theme better.

Just a couple ideas.

u/sharkamino · 1 pointr/BudgetAudiophile

No other wall to put everything? That wall with the glass door is very limiting.

If you move the Besta to the left a bit, left tower speaker could over lap the window a bit, but the right speaker is not ideal next to a wall.

For bookshelf speakers, use more stable End Tables instead of speaker stands. Attach the speaker to the table with a bracket on the back or sticker velco underneath the speaker.

Or yes, wall mounted speakers, there are slim speakers that are designed for wall mounting. Or in-wall speakers.

You could use a Table Top TV Stand to raise the TV to put 2 small speakers on their sides underneath or 2x LCR speakers or a passive 2 or 3 channel speaker bar.

u/homeboi808 · 1 pointr/hometheater

I'd scoot the seating just a tad up (like 1ft or less, use a sofa table that fits in the recessed area, so it doesn't look odd), that way the rears will be slightly behind you and you can angle them a bit. Also, having the rears slightly higher would be a little better as well, the tweeters are supposed to be 2ft-3ft above your ear.

As for the fronts, I see the left front is by a door, which stinks, but try spacing them out as much as you can, maybe even slightly toe them out.

Nice setup and speakers though. How are you liking the tv?

> I hope to get something lower with a shelf that will fit the center directly under the TV.

Floating cabinets and wall mounting are always cool, IKEA can be used for that. Here is one on Amazon, Here's a wall mount.

Sony XBR4... yeah, the bezel is weird, but otherwise it's a fantastic TV. It's like 5-6 years old, so give the guy a break, it was given to him by his parents.

I have the 52" XBR4 and have it set up like this.

Don't remember where I got the stand (pretty sure the website is out of business), but here are a couple options from Amazon:

Option One

Option Two

u/kn0wmad · 1 pointr/malelivingspace

Thanks! Super cheap (and it feels cheap, but it works). Got it from Amazon. Here's the link: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01BEGRXUS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_Qe00BbR3VEYJ3
Incredibly easy to put together, which was a huge selling point.

u/aubrydiaztwine · 1 pointr/malelivingspace

Baxton Studio Aulden Mid-Century Modern Walnut Brown Finished Wood TV Stand https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07893N1PL/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_Uj.VAbE5Z903P

It's pricy but excellent quality. Kinda hard to assemble so I suggest a power drill. Looks gorgeous and very heavy too

u/GetYoHeadOutYoButt · 1 pointr/malelivingspace

Thanks for the advice! I wish I would have thought of using the coffee table as a TV stand lol, but I bought a TV stand already that I'm pretty excited about. It's a similar color to the coffee table, maybe lighter but not sure since it hasn't arrived yet:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00FZV5H9I/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Right now, I'm thinking getting an ottoman and end table with a similar tone to the coffee table. Still not sure what rug to get, I bought a navy one but it didn't look right to me so I returned it.

u/AmbitiousWizard · 3 pointsr/malelivingspace

Great job so far! I would try to create a more open feel to the room, it looks a little too crowded for me. Axing the TV stand altogether or replacing it with a floating one would really help. Floating stands really give the illusion of more space. Something like:

https://www.amazon.com/Black-Altus-Plus-Floating-Stand/dp/B00CM5Y44E

Also think about replacing your coffee table. Seems oversized for the space. I don't know the exact dimensions of your space, but I would opt for something more, for lack of a better word, rectangular. Something like this:

https://www.amazon.com/Modern-Large-Rectangular-Coffee-Table/dp/B01NCL1V4O/ref=sr_1_9?s=furniture&ie=UTF8&qid=1498701225&sr=1-9&keywords=coffee+table

FYI I'm not recommending either of these exact products, just the general styling of them

u/oklahomachad · 2 pointsr/malelivingspace

I can’t remember where we got the coffee table, we got it when we were married. I’m pretty sure we got it online, probably amazon or wayfair or something.

The tv stand I got on amazon: Belmont Home 60 inch Natural Finish Media Stand https://www.amazon.com/dp/B076PWX6HF/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_QV3HDbHPAT9MH

u/GamerKingFaiz · 1 pointr/hometheater

CC: /u/Kiw1Fruit

I ended up getting the third option I mentioned in my original post.

I installed my 55" KS8000 on the second highest option (it has the ability to go one higher) as you can see in this pic and it fits perfectly! Remember my center speaker (Elac C5) is ~8".

On the highest setting I had about 11" of clearance and my TV is 56.8" high. This is just to give you a rough idea, because obviously your TV will be different depending on where the mounting hardware is installed on the back.

u/kaosbkhan · 2 pointsr/hometheater

If you’re on a budget, I just ordered this today:

WE Furniture Minimal Farmhouse Wood Stand for TV's up to 78" Living Room Storage, 70 Inch, Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B017R89RVK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_j0E0DbP8HCSB3

It’s the only cheap, good looking one I could find that didn’t require mounting it to the wall. However I only looked on IKEA, Best Buy, & Amazon

u/roosevelt-pimps · 1 pointr/woodworking

I was thinking something more like this: not mounting on the wall, but the back of the cabinet. Whalen Furniture XLDEC54-NV 3-in-1 Flat Panel Entertainment Stand with 2 Drawers, 54-Inch https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00G0OCXZA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_kI9PAbB1AJDB9

u/call_me_cthulhu_ · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon
-you could use this for dvd storage or for books, pictures, or anything else.

u/AcidsEcho · 3 pointsr/xboxone

Gotta admit, I bought one of these things. I have this entertainment center: http://amzn.com/B002RRF9IM

My TV and soundbar take up the entire top surface, so the Xbox is in one of those center cubby areas. There are maybe three inches clearance on the left and right and 5 inches clearance on the top.

The Xbox gets noticeably hotter than it did when it used to be on my desk and the fan is louder under stress. My hope is that the Antec thing will redirect the exhaust out of the back of the entertainment center. As it is now, the hot air is vented straight up and console is just recycling its own exhaust.

u/RXrenesis8 · 3 pointsr/techsupportmacgyver

You could get this style of entertainment center and you won't need a stand!

u/willabizzle · 1 pointr/hometheater

Something like this I especially like having a separate adjustable shelf for a center.

u/damnedfacts · 1 pointr/Rochester

We didn't want a wall mount, either. A table with a wide enough base was impractical. We found a middle-ground:

Whalen Furniture XLDEC54-NV 3-in-1 Flat Panel Entertainment Stand with 2 Drawers, 54-Inch https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00G0OCXZA

u/gdgeek · 1 pointr/hometheater

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B017R89RVK/_encoding=UTF8?coliid=IRN64UONQDHZ8&colid=13JPPM3ZWNUYZ&psc=1

This is what I'm looking into next. I have seen it on here before and it will fit my Klipsch center channel in the top-middle cutout.

u/secondachiever · 2 pointsr/malelivingspace

It's from amazon. It actually came fully assembled too!

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B076PWX6HF/

u/MrPessimist · 1 pointr/malelivingspace

I looked for hours for that thing, it's some reclaimed wood thing I got on Amazon. Here it is:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B076PWX6HF

u/comineeyeaha · 2 pointsr/hometheater

Here's the Amazon link, I just got it 2 weeks ago https://www.amazon.com/WE-Furniture-Black-Stand-Console/dp/B017R89RVK

u/TrumpSJW · 1 pointr/hometheater

You can get a really similar one on amazon but only one color I believe.

Here you go

Sauder Soft Modern Credenza, Pale Oak https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00FZV5H9I/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_guLMzbWEDCDVF

u/umdivx · 1 pointr/hometheater

An adjustable TV stand maybe?

https://www.amazon.com/FITUEYES-Universal-Adjustment-Tempered-Screens/dp/B07GZLDJMC

Would replace the regular TV legs, you mound the TV to that stand and allows you to raise the TV high enough to put the center channel under the TV.

u/sampson2269 · 1 pointr/audiophile

I was thinking of going with this rack instead,

http://www.amazon.com/BUSH-FURNITURE-Midnight-Audio-Tower/dp/B000W8JK5G/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1420481706&sr=8-4&keywords=audio+rack

In the pictures some guy has 3 xpa-2's even though I guess shelf weight is only rated at 50lbs. Any other recommendations for a rack?

u/socokid · 1 pointr/audiophile

> Which media stand is that?

Here you go.

u/Mr-_-Positivity · 1 pointr/audiophile

Bush Furniture Midnight Mist Media Stand in Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000W8JK5G/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_1C4hDbF8MX2YV

u/redwinterx · 1 pointr/firstworldproblems

I actually just bought this same TV and had the same exact problem, it is slightly pricey however i am sure there are cheaper options but I bought this and it mounts in the middle and is compatible with this screen. hope this helps
