Here you go!

I'm totally with you on anything that hugs my neck. It makes me very uncomfortable.

I have the women's version of this pullover, and it's a wonderful combo with the base layer

32DegreesHeat (Edit: Minus33 (EditEdit: Merino Blend by Paradox)) has some nice merino wool baselayer thermal bottoms. Got them at a really nice discount at Costco 4 years ago and they're still going strong. No tears or bad wear and tear.

Terramar makes a nice product too. These are awesome and heavier than the 32DegreesHeat thermals that I own but the Terramar pull on my leg hairs sometimes. https://www.amazon.com/Terramar-Sports-Thermawool-Bottom-Heather/dp/B00P1P3NYY/ref=sr_1_4?s=apparel&ie=UTF8&qid=1482216300&sr=1-4&nodeID=2211975011&refinements=p_4%3ATerramar&th=1

I wear one of these moisture wicking long sleeves for most of my riding. Way cheaper than a real jersey, but just as effective.

Is this the right one? Smartwool Men's Base Layer Top - Merino 150 Wool Active Long Sleeve Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01HMUO5II/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_OBLMDbW389JYB

Can it be found in REI?

I ended up getting one of these and I think it looks pretty slick.

I’m surprised that the Spider Guard Web Flex hasn’t gotten more traction in the forum. I’ve had mine for years after taking a hit so hard I had to sit on an ice pack for a week.

It’s flexible enough to safe for your partners, but still takes the brunt of accidental impacts.

Big-ass socks.

These look stupid, but they help and they're cheap.

Smartwool makes an ultralight short-sleeved base layer that's great for cycling.

I would rock that with bike shorts (wool shorts suck TBH) and pack a lightweight windbreaker or windvest for descents or if you run cold.

My wife got me this Army of Darkness rashguard for Christmas because I like the movie: https://www.amazon.com/Fusion-Fight-Gear-Darkness-Compression/dp/B01A19VLO8/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=army+of+darkness+rashguard&qid=1571433091&sr=8-1

Hopefully she didn't pay that much for it, but I've been wearing it this month.

This one?

Yeah it's a ranked. While very likely no one notices or even cares, they do sell ranked versions so while the odds of it upsetting anyone are astronomical, I can see while you bailed. Honestly if you're not comfortable with it thats all that matters.

I found the one i got on amazon its definitely a blend but machine washable with no shrinkage. (The amazon reviews may help)

Edit: there are more options on amazon than i thought. some Paradox shirts for under $20.

It appears irresponsible to manufacturer fleece cloth from non-biodegradable plastics: my uneducated guess is that is a design issue inherent in fleece/microfleece from the second article, and my own experience would suggest that details from the source experiment are needed regarding the first article: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/27686821

Whereas my experience with conventional polyester clothing is that it's "fucking durable", and does not appear to wear at all from what I can tell: I've been wearing a couple of these nearly every day, washing all the time, and as far as I can tell they're brand new with zero wear. If it was losing any significant amount of fiber during washes, I'd expect it to be wearing thin over time as cotton does with repeated washing. EDIT: with some consideration, I suppose that my shirts could be losing a small amount of individual fibers from a very wide area, and this may not be visible on short (let's say, under ten years) time scales. Basically, I'm pretty sure it's more of a consideration with certain fabric types?
