Outdoor/indoor gaming stuff:

  1. Playing cards

    Muslim stuff:

  12. Prayer rug: Used as a soft surface while praying. Common misconception: they aren't really holy in any way, they're just rugs, many Muslims pray without them.

  13. The Qur'an: The holy text of Islam, written in both English and Arabic.

  14. Kufi: A type of hat worn by Muslims, traditionally worn by the early followers of Islam. Usually worn with or without a turban. I wear it during prayer sometimes.

  15. Miswak: A Muslim toothbrush essentially. Many Muslims carry them around all day and use them after performing ablution (wudu'). It's been used for thousands of years and predates Islam, and is made from the branches of the Salvadora persica tree.

  16. Ittar: a fragrance oil perfume used in many Muslim countries.

  17. Misbaha(prayer beads): used to keep track of tasbih, a supplication done after praying.

  18. Copy of the U.S. Constitution: Given to me by my Political Science professor. I recommend every American to read the constitution in its entirety at least once. It's one of the best constitutions written. Comes in handy when you're having political arguments. I keep it handy so I know my basic rights.

  19. Prayer & Purification book: A guide to how to pray, types of prayers, and how perform wudu' and ghusl.

    Survival stuff:

  20. Outdoor knives my dad got for me from Amazon. Not sure about brand The brand is Cross Fire.

Disclaimer: Possessing knives outside your home is heavily restricted and regulated in NYC. I usually only take the knives when hiking. Check local laws.

  21. $10 Casio watch

  22. Alpine Swiss wallet, a gift from my brother

  23. LG Aspiro phone

  24. Volkswagen car keys

    New York stuff:

I am happy to elaborate on any of these items, including the brands, if you want to know more.

Girl, Amazon. I buy tons of footie jammies on there, you can get some great deals. I also adore the Bluenido sets on there! They're perfect for long and lean littles, but I always go a size bigger since they're super snug.

Here's a few of my Bluenido faves:

I swear I'm not a schill (even if it looks like it) their stuff is just so darned good.

Because when your dead, you at least get the answer to a grand mystery. Theft just makes your life a little bit worse.

I wish they did, this is the best I could find

Our kids would hit it off. Mine loves fire trucks too, he has a small, medium, and large one. I got it off amazon and it looks like it’s currently unavailable now.

The only other one I could find is This

Which is more a mower, but who knows if your kiddo would mind.

I COME BEARING OPTIONS!

  1. red ranger costume hoodie - more appropriate to be wearing out of the house AND utilitarian once it gets cold out. the large may or may not be big enough, though, since the walmart listing says the largest size is a 7.
  2. actual proper pajamas that come in short-sleeve red for warmer weather AND long-sleeve blue (if he's not partial to color)! again, at least somewhat more utilitarian than a nylon costume.
  3. black ranger hoodie comes in bigger sizes than the red ranger one
  4. how about just an actual t-shirt? this he really CAN wear everywhere, year-round, and it comes in all the youth sizes so you can buy extras for when he grows!

the first time we found a spiderman costume for my youngest, he wanted to live in 24/7 too, but at that point he was actually too big for it. we basically inundated him with spiderman gear - t-shirts, pajama sets, backpacks, etc - and he let go of the costume long enough to wear normal clothes.

My mother suggested I post All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr. She just read it, and loved it. It's along the same "tug your heart-strings" as The Boy in the Striped Pajamas by John Boyne, but maybe a bit more adult-friendly, in just the messages and content. I asked her to write a short review to post here, and we're waiting on that.

Last year I got my kids and all my nieces and nephews these blue and white striped pj's. I'm thinking of getting these legwarmers this year, at least for the girls/babies.

There are pajamas that zip up in the back so the kid can't get them off. (Like this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07CVKB35T/ref=cm\_sw\_em\_r\_mt\_dp\_U\_b.aJDbGZKHG47 )

DO NOT USE DUCT TAPE! I (literally) almost killed my son when he was little when I was trying to use scissors to cut them off and gouged him close to the femoral artery. 16 stitches and a long conversation with the pediatric nurse later (I though I was going to jail) everything was ok, but it still keeps me up at night.
