I would start by replacing all of the black knobs with one of these 2 examples. The black is a bit much, too heavy and redundant with the countertop, imho. To the point of being an eyesore.

Brushed aluminum knobs, 1.2” diameter, which is small, and square, to almost but not match, on purpose, the stainless steel color in the products on the countertop, and to pay homage to the shape of the doors. (I would not put stainless knobs on the doors.) The square brushed aluminum would make the cabinets more sophisticated and modern looking. And lighter.

The white color of the cabinets is fine, imho. Don't paint them a different color. Just maybe sand and paint them so they're more pleasing to you, if you like.

Square glass knobs. My preference. Because of the look and size. Again, to modernize the look, and to have knobs that go beyond function, to an object of beauty and curiosity. The glass would play off the dark and shiny granite nicely. https://www.amazon.com/Cosmas-6377SN-C-Nickel-Cabinet-Hardware/dp/B017MRFVK2/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1475004848&sr=8-2&keywords=square+glass+knobs

Leave your cabinets alone. But if you want to do something to change the trim, above the cabinets and below the cornice, paint it a very light grey, the same color or lighter than the door on the microwave. It will soften the area considerably, and give you a more comfortable and aesthetically pleasing feeling and height. And it would also make the cabinets and the cornice pop. And the light grey stripe would play off beautifully, either of the knobs for the cabinets that I've suggested, and also, and perhaps most importantly, be a graceful visual segue, from the black granite countertop, to the white of the ceiling.

Blue white and gray would look nice. If you do plain cabinet door faces they would be more reasonable depending on soft close and all. https://www.myscandinavianhome.com/2018/07/an-eclectic-19th-century the blue In this is gorgeous http://www.montenegrin.org/the-bathroom-design-decoration-33/ there’s basics you decide on. Like you like clean so I don’t think open shelves would work. Clean replacement doors and painting it blue or another color would work. Grays I would probably stay neutral with. There’s some now with purple undertones. They might look good but some colors can look funky if your lighting is cool and warm. There are some gorgeous grays like Sherman Williams Let it rain, Morning Fog, Lazy fog and Argos. Cabinets in Adriatic Sea, Blue Nile, Georgian Bay, Regatta for more muted Inky Blue, Denim, Bracing Blue. If you do cabinet knobs there are tons of options. I would stay clean or eclectic. Otherwise stick with plain. If you plan to add any cabinets make sure the hardware you get can still be bought. I’ve had friends get gorgeous clearance stuff but changed their kitchen and couldn’t find anymore of them. They ended up replacing all the hardware. If you might add cabinets or island and get a good clearance deal buy extra.

New to this sub, tried posting but it was deemed against the rules and post was removed. So I’ll try it here.

Been wanting a white, 6 drawer dresser for a while now to replace my 4 drawer tall boy. I saw this one on marketplace and I was going to pass on it as it wasn’t exactly what I was looking for, but after chewing on my lip thinking about it for a couple hours I decided to adopt it for the price of $25.00. I love the look of the 3 longer drawers surrounded by the small ones, and the dainty little feet. I’m 21 on a student budget, and this is my first go at furniture refinishing.

My desire was white, so I’ve decided to use a white chalk spray paint by Rust-oleum due to the ease of use. I lightly sanded the exterior, and used about 3 coats. I’m cleaning up and keeping the middle handles, and replacing the small drawer handles with these.

I’ve got a few ideas for the finished product, but I’m not sure which is the most realistic/best look.

  1. Leave as is, in a solid white matte finish.

  2. Try my hand at a bit of distressing. I was thinking of sanding the edges of the drawers, and maybe the edges of the frame between them.

  3. More expensive option (eek), leave the drawers in the matte finish, but coat the frame in a glossy topcoat to give it a contrast. Unsure if the shiny vs. matte contrast would be defined enough to be ideal.

Also, wondering if I should coat the entire piece in a top coat? There’s a matte topcoat for about $30 (eek) but I’m unsure if it’s necessary after 3 coats. But if the paint risks easily chipping without it, maybe it’s worth the price.

Like I said, this is my first project. I appreciate any feedback and constructive criticism. Thanks!

Most of the items we have in our nursery are thrifted and we are doing cloth diapering so that we can have a lower environmental impact with our baby.

Top 5:

Changing pad sheets. These covers are super soft and I was a big fan of the pattern! We also got different sizes of these for our bassinet and pack and play sheets. https://www.amazon.com/Stretchy-Changing-Covers-BROLEX-Jersey-Balloons/dp/B07B488QB9/ref=asc_df_B07B488QB9/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=241960278479&hvpos=1o1&hvnetw=g&hvrand=13514455347440179493&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9003680&hvtargid=aud-801381245258%3Apla-452765505018&psc=1&th=1

Charcoal grey storage ottoman: we are keeping all of our extra linens and assorted items of that nature in here and it is strong enough to sit on! https://www.amazon.com/Seville-Classics-Foldable-Storage-Charcoal/dp/B00ROR7SYS

For the dresser/changing table we took an old wooden dresser and spruced it up with a coat of grey mineral paint and new hardware. Here is the knobs we picked: https://www.amazon.com/Artncraft-Painted-Ceramic-Cabinet-Drawer/dp/B01MFI13R0

You can’t have an ocean theme without some ocean themed decals for the wall! Most of the decor came from discount shops but we purchased these wall stickers from Amazon to add some more color. treepenguin Ocean Wall Decals for Kids Rooms - Under The Sea Fish Wall Decor - Bathroom Wall Stickers - Bedroom Bathtub Shower Sea Animal Decorations https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07DWHDDVN/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apip_SOvRzRK9ms9ir

Finally for our seaside themed lamp and side table we have an old side table that we inherited from family. We put some netting down and added seashells that we thrifted as well as a lamp with sand and little shells inside! This will be our nursing and reading station for the foreseeable future with the glider armchair purchased off Facebook marketplace from another mom. Overall I was happy with how everything came out. Our house is over 200 years old so we had to work with a small room with a strange shape and a small budget. I am being induced Wednesday night so finished just in time! I hope you enjoyed!

Home sweet home needs a gorgeous accented Coffee Table

A Room divider although I'm not sure how well this fits your theme I think it's pretty.

A Jewelry Box and Another one

Some wall Mirrors Mirror2

We have One Two and Three Cabinet knobs.

I think these Suitcases would be good for storage and decor. Here's Another with a different Finish.

Floral Curtains

Quilt Rack?

One Two Three Four Pillow designs.

I think that's all for now xD Hope I stuck with the theme okay.

EDIT: I thought a Cuckoo Clock would be cool but that might stray a bit from the English part of the decor xD

Earlier I made a practice station for a set of 6 locks, but it was uncomfortable to hold in my lap while I watch TV. So I made a couple of these small holders in an hour or so. There is a brass insert for the screw, so these will last forever, and the screws will turn easily.
I would recommend making these before you try to duplicate the big rig.

I used the E-Z Lok 1/4-20 brass inserts. You can use thumb screws or knurled screws (as shown in the picture). Thumb screws are available at nearly any hardware store.
The special tool I used to screw in the brass insert is shown here, but some people may want a driver bit.

I rounded off the edges using a router table, but a sander can be used. The slot can be cut with a table saw or a small dovetail or gent's saw.

I didn't apply a finish yet, as I wanted to use them for a while. I can do that later. I used oak for these holders.

The parts can be purchased here. here. here or here and the T-handle wrench I used is available here.

Some tips:

  • Drill some small pilot holes and make sure they line up because the holes from the side and top have to intersect.
  • The large hole may cause tear-out, so you might want to drill from both sides. (That's why a small pilot hole is useful).
  • Make sure you drill the proper size hole for the brass insert. I have 3/8" marked on the bag to remind me.
  • When you, ah, insert the insert. make sure the slots for the screwdriver face out, so you can remove the insert in case it gets messed up.
  • I find the T-handle wrench is easy to control and to make sure you hold the tool at the right angle. If it's tilted, the insert may not go in easily.
  • Be prepared and have extra inserts, in case you mess up.
  • If you use a hard wood like cherry (like my practice station), you may have to use one of the brass inserts to start the thread, then back it off (with a screwdriver) and replace it will the final one.
  • Be safe and protect your fingers. Drilling the large hole into the block will cause the wood to grab and spin with the bit. I held it in a small vice. I also used a professional hold-down when I used the router table. Those pieces of wood are too small to be hand-held.

Let me know if you have any questions.

These drawer pulls would be awesome for the new place I am moving to this winter. They're on my need list.

Our house is a split floor plan, and there is no way I am breastfeeding twins and traipsing across a house to another room. We also really need that room as a guest room for grandma! Alas, the twins will be with us for a year - and that's how we liked it with our first.

I like your idea about the rope, but I think would be simpler and more effective to use some small cabinet knobs and a rubber band material. You could put a couple of knobs near two of corners and wrap a rubber band or hair tie around them. Space them so the band will be taut.

If you use the flat end as the mounting point, the simplest solution would be to use stick on pull knobs

Because the second you drill into these boxes, they will most likely start to fracture.

If the stick on adhesive doesn't stay on as securely as you would like, grab a package of JB Weld and permanently attach them

The cabinets are all Billy bookcases with Oxford doors from IKEA. I upgraded the knobs (cheap ones from Amazon but better than what the Billy's come with) and my husband trimmed out the sides partly because we had to and partly to give them a more custom built-in look but they're not! Just cheapos from IKEA that we doctored up a little.

Amazon link to the knobs I may or may not have reviewed ;)
