I have three ideas (they'd all be a singular gift because they are each close to $10).
Justin Bieber Singing Toothbrush because who wouldn't love to swoon to "U Smile" while brushing their teeth?! (This is an add-on item but I'm sure it's offered on other sites for the same price).
Urinal Shot Glasses lol gross.
Hand Sanitizer Because maybe someone touched their genitals...
Good luck, I hope you find the perfect item!
I have always had a particularly sensitive tongue... and every mainstream toothpaste out there burns my mouth.
The toothpaste I've finally become loyal to is Tom's Mango Orange gel. It's a flouride toothpaste, and yes it does contain Sodium Lauryl Sulfate. It's been really a godsend for me, though.
I also think every parent should look into getting one of those cheap electric toothbrushes for their kids such as this one. It makes brushing one's teeth easy and efficient and fun.
We started with this toothbrush Dr. Brown's Infant-to-Toddler Toothbrush Set, 1.4 Ounce, Blue https://www.amazon.com/dp/B013W6CCRM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_e9m5BbH85EYSQ -
bought at Target for less than this though! Pretty sure we paid like $6 (looks like the pink one is available for about that on Amazon.) I think we started around 6 months - when his first tooth came in.
We use a tiny bit of this toothpaste per recommendation of our ped:
Jack N' Jill Natural Toothpaste, Raspberry & Blueberry, 1.76oz (Pack of 2) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00F6TZ8QG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_1-m5Bb1YVH1RA
My son loves the toothpaste and loves brushing his teeth. At 1 I just started buying whatever toddler toothbrush was cheapest because my son chews during brushing and wears out toothbrushes fast.
YTA. My parents treat my best friend (who is only a visitor!) better than you treat your own son. We keep a toothbrush, Lactaid, and a couple snacks she likes because she sleeps over about every other week. And this is just my friend. You see your son more than that, and you’re not even prepared. I get if your ex was sending him over malnourished and in rags, while she drove a Mercedes away cackling, but he’s healthy and has his own clothes.
Is it really that hard for you to feed your own goddamn son? Would it kill you to order $6.00 toothpaste (https://www.amazon.com/Colgate-Toothpaste-Mouthwash-Watermelon-Flavor/dp/B0000AN9LX/ref=zg_bs_16026141_8?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=KSV05XBWN4HVS20SMK22) and a $3.49 pack of toothbrushes (https://www.amazon.com/Pack-Dr-Fresh-Extra-Toothbrushes/dp/B01GRAFERU/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?crid=2M536JI91XSII&keywords=children+toothbrush&qid=1556057702&s=gateway&sprefix=children+too&sr=8-2)? Will it really put such a huge dent in your budget to buy him a fucking toy (Look! You would literally pay less than 75 cents per toy truck https://www.amazon.com/Vehicles-Assorted-Construction-Yeonha-Toddlers/dp/B01MUC9GPU/ref=mp_s_a_1_43?keywords=child+toy&qid=1556058145&s=gateway&sr=8-43)? Do you hold that much resentment for your ex? If you can’t give him fifteen bucks worth of essential goods, are you coming close to giving him the love and support a father owes his son?
Edit: grammar and added a link
>the history
Which you get more of at tourist sites.
>no garbage cans
In subway stations, maybe. But most JR stations have plenty, and convenience stores have them, too.
>tooth brush songs
Like this? Or maybe this?
>walking routes to school
Don't typically have much impact on the lives of 30-somethings.
>mamachari
Bikes. Just shitty bikes.
>kombini
...Are you even being serious at this point?
>even knowing about the crappy legal system, terrible sexual assaults laws and rampant sexism doesn't dampen my nigh obsession with the country
Are you a man? Or just really gunning for a SAHM position? Because you'll want to hurry it up for the latter.
I'm sorry, but none of these are good reasons to move to a country. You say your view isn't as rose-colored, but you romanticize the childhood experiences that you will never have and completely brush off the social issues. There are plenty of people who come here to visit, fall in love, move here and then succeed, but just as many (if not more) flounder and go home embittered. And for some, visiting shatters their image of Japan entirely.
By all means, visit. But also hop on suumo and Gaijinpot. See how much you'll be making and what you can buy with that. Visit the area you'd have to live in (not the nearest station, either, envision your commute). Really do your homework. Because while moving to a new country can be amazing, it is also very difficult.
The chalky white lines at the gum line on the front teeth are early early stages of cavities. Its the enamel starting to decalcify in that area because of the plaque sitting on the tooth. I wouldn't do any treatment there at this stage, but its something to be aware of. If it starts to get out of control, silver diamine fluoride could put a pause on it by killing the bacteria, but it stains the decayed area of the tooth.
Limit the frequency of the milk. She can have milk throughout the day, but don't have it in a no-spill cup that she carries around at sips whenever she wants. Just water in those things.

That's the best position to be in. Obviously not every kid is going to cooperate like that, but its best to be behind them where you can see and hold the lips out of the way. If you have to do it the other way, then do so. You're not going to traumatize your kid by brushing their teeth, but a bad experience at the dentist could.
The good news is little kids grow up and learn to tolerate the brushing. She'll get there. Keep working on it. There are more 2 minute brushing videos at 2min2x.org. And Chocolate Ice Cream toothpaste is a bonus, it tastes exactly like toosie rolls.
I'm a pediatric dentist.
The cat in the hat in the box. All of these submissions are awesome :D I would love these two items if I won! IF I FITS I SITS
Thank you, friend. ♥️ I actually bought it on Amazon, Tanner's Tasty Paste Anticavity... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B015ZRTHVA?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share and it's great, with no minty sensation at all.
This worked well for my youngest. We had to mix it up with different games, but she started enjoying brushing within a couple of weeks of animals living in her mouth.
Also ask if your dentist has any toddler safety toothbrushes ( https://www.amazon.com/Infant-Toddler-Safety-Toothbrush-1-brush/dp/B0010DKTI4). They aren't that great for brushing, but they can't get hurt trying.
Well, first of all, I'm glad I'm not the only one who experiences this. Second, I've been meaning to try Japanese toothpaste which comes in multiple flavors that are not mint.
I've also done a quick search and found this flavored toothpaste that comes in blue raspberry, bubblegum, natural watermelon, organic apple, and wild strawberry.
Here's the link if you're interested: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06Y551SQC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_Htw6CbYPXAEHF
A cheap solution I've used is a battery powered toothbrush like this $5 one from Amazon. It's like using a vibrator. If you can't order from Amazon you can probably find them in local department stores or at a pharmacy chain like CVS, Rite Aid or Walgreens.
Get the kind where you can replace the battery because you're likely going to use it longer per session than its intended purpose. If the battery dies during a session, set it aside for a day or two; in my experience the battery will often recover and can be used a few more times before needing to be replaced.
Move the brush around. Keeping it too long in one spot can lead to a numbing sensation.
Note that a toothbrush isn't designed to be quiet. :D
If you're uncut like I am, I would caution against retracting your foreskin and using it directly on your shaft and glans (head of the penis) as it can be uncomfortable, at least at first. Until you're used to it, you can press the vibrating brush against the foreskin, or use something like a handkerchief between the brush and your skin.
They make one especially for kids (it’s reasonably priced, and has stickers)
[Waterpik on Amazon](Waterpik Water Flosser For Kids, WP-260 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004Y99EO6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_bGLUAbBWY8J6H)
My kids also have the SonicareKids, again based on my sister the hygenist’s recommendation. There’s a Bluetooth app that will tell you how well they’ve been brushing, and some game that I haven’t let my kids play, lol. Mama doesn’t share her phone. But my sister has said that she can tell the difference between kids that use a Sonicare and those that don’t. The kids who use it have fewer cavities, gum disease, and plaque.
[It’s also on Amazon](Philips Sonicare for Kids Bluetooth Connected Rechargeable Electric Toothbrush, HX6321/02 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00YAR7ZL6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_SJLUAb6TN3CPA)
In that case I'd bet a toothpaste allergy. Google it, toothpaste has a LOT of things that can cause contact dermatitis and other irritated skin issues in it - SLS, betaine, fluoride, mint, xanthan gum, flavoring, propylene glycol, carrageenan, acrylates, benzyl alcohol, tartar control ingredients, the list goes on! Try buying a super safe toothpaste with none of these things in it and using that for a while - if it is the toothpaste, you'll know in a week or two and it'll only cost you a few bucks to find out. If that works, you can get a dental series patch test to find out which potential irritants could be causing it.
I REALLY like this toothpaste, which has none of those potential irritants in it, and also tastes like delicious watermelon: https://www.amazon.com/Hello-Oral-Care-Toothpaste-Watermelon/dp/B01B4OB2FC
I've had an ongoing mystery rash in the same area for a long time now, so I really feel you. I've done a lot of research and you wouldn't believe how common allergy to toothpaste constituents is. Also to components of your cleanser, shampoo, or whatever else touches your face. If you haven't had comprehensive allergy patch testing done yet (something like the NAC-80), you absolutely must. I just had allergy testing done and likely found the cause of my allergy, I can't encourage it enough.
I use this on my 9 month old. It's his favorite part of getting ready for bed!
We use Hello Fluoride-Free (watermelon flavor) for our daughter, who is 2. It's inexpensive and it was recommended by a friend. Our daughter likes it so we'll be sticking with it because there's no need to change until she learns to not swallow toothpaste, at which point we'll switch to fluoride toothpaste.
I bought a crayola/G-U-M brand that's battery powered and shaped like a crayon. It's the small round type. My 1-year-old's dentist said just find the smallest one and make sure it has soft bristles.
https://www.amazon.com/Sunstar-2272RA-Crayola-Toothbrush-Assorted/dp/B00156E0Q8/ref=mp_s_a_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1549466057&sr=8-5&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=crayola+battery+toothbrush&dpPl=1&dpID=41WH4XDyL2L&ref=plSrch
Was going to suggest this my daughter loves it Tanner's Tasty Paste Baby Bling Fluoride-Free Children’s Toothpaste, Vanilla Ice Cream, 4.2 Ounce https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07BFMSD14/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_UnA6Cb6E90VHQ
As soon as teeth popped through. We started slowly though. The first time they just sat in our lap after our 6mo check up. The hygienist counted their teeth, and they got a prize, toothbrush, and toothpaste. We worked our way up to the hygienist brushing teeth at our next visit, the next she used the cleaner/polisher, the next the fluoride treatment. By the time they were 3 they were pretty much having full appointments with us every 6 months.
As far as brushing their teeth, always. Before they had teeth, we bought a baby brush set and we brushed their gums. When teeth started being seen, we switched to a soft toothbrush. No fluorinated until they are reliably spitting their toothpaste out. We also now use kids mouthwash, and use flossers.
We didn't have dental insurance when I was a kid and I had a HUGE phobia of dentists. I had 2 molars rot out of my mouth, so I'm pretty neurotic about my kids and their teeth. My 7 year old brushes all on his own now, my 4 year old still has to have us do it.
there's toddler toothpaste in the kids section that is floride free and you can use that. http://www.amazon.com/Kiss-My-Face-Fluoride-Toothpaste/dp/B001GIOVXW
I understand that. After a quick search on Amazon, here are a few that don't have very childish packaging:
Found a vinila one
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B015ZRTHVA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_-yB6Cb3AQPW1Q
Kinda cheap and also good rateing
We use this. They have a built in light which turns off after a fixed time. My kids like to see their mouth glowing - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00NAG0FZ6
