ten percent or so, which is pretty standard. i don't think any remaining banks still have the machines, so your other option is to get a coin counter machine and paper rolls and do it yourself. including all the time it will take on a little mini-machine like that.

or just pay the convenience fee (or as others mentioned, get it as a gift card...)

We have machines that people take large amounts of change to cash in. Americans tend to not carry coins because they are usually worth less than a dollar. We tend to put our coins in a container and after a month or so they tend to pile up.

Yo conté, enrolle, deposite y saque sobre 300 dolares en monedas el otro día. Irónicamente, mitad de eso fue enrollado en papel que me dio mi mismo banco, gratis.
