A first year teacher's job is to get sick all the time so they grow an iron clad immune system. Here are some tips.

+Get a flu shot. They go by the most common strains they think are going to be the problem. Sometimes scientists are wrong because there are thousands of strains of flu. Some protection is better than none.
+Wash your hands frequently. Before you eat. Before you go home.
+Just because you use hand sanitizer doesn't mean you shouldn't wash hands. For every 4 or 5 times you use hand sanitizer you need to use soap and water.
+Encourage students to wash hands frequently (seriously, they're dirty)
+Do a lesson on germs and show a YouTube video.
+You also have to teach how to sneeze into the elbow My favorite is to get a water bottle and pretend like I'm sneezing or coughing without covering my mouth and squirting kids. Then pretend to sneeze or cough in your hand and put some slime in it and go to touch someone Gets the point across. Also, play this a lot.
+If you can't use bleach, use a bleach alternative. Try Lysol no bleach.
+During flu and cold season, wipe down tables, tops of chairs, and door knob daily.
+Get Lysol Spray. Every Friday spray desks, the entire chair, your expo markers, any manipulatives they touch frequently (I spray it in the Legos, shake, spray, and shake), your mouse, and your keyboard.
+If you have a sink in your room, clean the handles daily
+When you get home, change. Put on new clothes. Yeah drastic but if half the class is sick and they've been sneezing on you all day.... (I wear separate shoes for work, completely change, and during flu and cold season I wash my face and arms up to my elbows. With students with severe disabilities in a self-contained class, you have to help blow noses, get sneezed on, get green snot shot at you, students like sharing snot in general.)
+If you have any type of a fever or it takes an Act of God to get you out of bed, take the damn day off and sleep. You will heal faster.
+We all hate cold medication. But drug yourself. This tastes like shit but it's god's gift to man when you are sick. Grape flavored Deylsum (yes expensive, yes good, yes worth it). Mucinex. And 12 hour Sudafed (the good stuff from the pharmacist). Yes you will be drugged but you will feel AWESOME shit instead of just feeling like shit
+Get good sleep, hydrate, exceecise, eat healthy, fruits and vegetables are your friend
Don't be a damn hero and go to work sick. You don't get better. You get people sick. Nobody likes that kid.

>Public interest in the subject, stimulated originally by the vigorous advocacy of Nobel laureate Linus Pauling during the 1970s continues to be high.

When I was in high school (a Math & Science Magnet, mind you) I was assigned to do a presentation on Pauling and the health benefits of Vitamin C. It wasn't 'til much later in life that I discovered it was all largely bunk (and that teacher was a bit of a quack).

Interesting side-note: I worked in public education for a while, myself, and the faculty and staff there virtually lived off Airborne and Emergen-C. The administration handed them out for free at the beginning of each year, encouraged us to use them, and kept an extra supply stocked in the office. A number of teachers drank it daily, especially during winter, over our lunch breaks like hot tea, each pack/tablet providing a 1000mg megadose. (2000mg is the Tolerable Upper Intake Level, beyond which much further could lead to diarrhea -- nevermind that none of them were deficient, most likely, in the first place. Don't recall any scurvy outbreaks while I was there...) Could never figure out why they just didn't eat a piece of fruit! "Apple a day..."

  1. You have missed an awfule lot of snapchatting and the shameless complimenting of /u/skinslip1's beard.

  2. I did notice. I also noted the lack of snaps.

  3. I miss /u/Aerys1...feel like we haven't talked in forever

I live in LA and have just been using these. I feel like they're easier to use and more discreet. The down side is you can't have it blown into your eyes but that's dangerous anyways. Pretty sure that's how I lost my 20/20 vision

It sounds like it's too late now, but last time I got a cold this stuff lightened the symptoms quite a bit along with a ton of vitamin B

[i bought mine at Sprouts] (http://www.amazon.com/Dr-Shens-Chiao-Pills-Count/dp/B00028OMR2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1426261831&sr=8-1&keywords=yin+chao+cold)

tylenol, gripe water, gas drops, saline spray, bulb syringe/nose frida etc. to have on hand because it's better to have in the house and not need then be dealing with a sick baby and in a rush to get it at that time! Also may want to register for a humidifier (and filters and the vapor liquid for them depending on the type you get - cold air humidifier takes a filter, hot air takes the liquid if you choose to use it) for the same reason they come in handy with the first case of congestion.

u/DausenWillis · 11 pointsr/keto

I had chronic sinus infection. I always knew when another was coming because everything smelled like mulch.

I did no dairy and this for a month. Worked like a charm.

OMG the crap that came of my head during that month!

Now whenever I feel alllergy-y or slightly congested I take one. But since starting Keto I haven't needed one.

You get electrical contraptions for steam inhalation in medical shops.

www.amazon.in/Healthgenie-Steam-Sauna-Vaporizer-Superior/dp/B00SYF6KOI/

Sinarest would provide relief. However, you should do gargling (salt, dispirin) and also steaming.

Sinarest already contains something similar to cetrizine - so don't take both cetrizine and sinarest.

>my mother was causing my cold sore flare ups

Herpes is a one-time transmission. After that, you have it and it lies dormant in your cells until it flares up based on conditions in your body. Your mother may have given it to you but after that, the flare-ups are on you.

I got it from my dad when I was a baby because he didn't understand how contagious it was and let me touch his face when he had sores.

If anyone struggles to control them there are environmental factors which can cause flare-ups they should be aware of like overexposure to the sun and overindulgence on adenosine-containing foods like chocolate or sunflower seeds. Combining multiple triggers is begging for a breakout.

If you feel one coming on you might be able to prevent it entirely by taking a few grams of Lysine orally; it blocks the expression of an enzyme the virus needs to replicate. There is a product called Super Lysine Plus that is a miracle worker because you apply it topically to the sore or the beginning of one and the Lysine absorbs right into it and stops the viral replication.

It is important for people to understand how to treat or prevent symptoms themselves because most doctors have no idea that breakouts can be prevented altogether or extremely mitigated with Lysine and avoiding large amounts of certain foods. Why? They can't patent Lysine or advice to not binge on chocolate so both are ignored as a treatment in allopathic medicine.

I think Theraflu would be the US equivalent of Lemsip. There is even an apple cinnamon version of it.

There's this. It might be what this guy bought, but it has chlorpheniramine in it.

The bambino fits into an empty AirBorne tube. There are other dissolving tablets that come in similar tubes, but I forget the name at the moment. I think Nuun?

Go to a dollar store and find Gelcaps. Gelcaps are the best way to do it. If you can't find that then just get a few orders of [these] (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00F69V0L8?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00) They are overpriced and it will take a lot but if you're desperate you're desperate.
