Well if it's more of a fantasy kinda story (vs. pure Sci-Fi) you want. Then I would totally dig into some of the worst of Second life. Fantasy is just fore-shadowing for horror. Have the villian be a transexual baby-fur (but secretly the hero is too).

Have you seen the movie Gamer? That's an awesome example of honest internet culture. The fat guy who controls the wife in that would an awesome mini boss. Another great source for inspiration I would recommend would be Your Next-Door Neighbor is a Dragon. Not only is it hilarious it's probably one of my favourite authors.

Not a subreddit, but you can submit stuff like that to this blog.

Read How To Invent Everything!! It’s a hilarious well written book that talks about these exact circumstances! Highly recommend

I want this just because I am a psychology minor and I like reading stuff like this, I love reading stuff like this just to compare to see how nerdy I am compared to others. I just don't need it because I already have a bunch of psychology books that I have for my classes but not one that is cool as this one. But one thing is for sure I do not want a boat like this

I'm seeing a few more on Amazon:

Nov. 8th, Notes on the Cinematograph by Robert Bresson

Nov. 8th, Bresson on Bresson This is NYRB, but not in the 'classics' catalogue.

Bresson directed the great 60's films Pickpocket and A Man Escaped, which have both been released on Criterion.

July 5th, The Continuous Katherine Mortonhoe by D.G. Compton

This sounds like something straight out of the book "Ghosts/Aliens". Here is a link if you have never heard of it. I highly recommend reading it, one of the funniest books I have read.

From Wikipedia: "The book chronicles the research of two amateur scientists, Trey Hamburger and Mike Stevens, who investigate the possible teleportation of a hot pocket. The investigation soon expands to psychic babies, "Indians", the efficacy of toothpaste foam, the dangers caused by floating pillows, states of bird consciousness, portals in space/time, and so on.
The author sends letters to actual scientists requesting advice about the existence of ghosts, aliens, inter-dimensional portals as well as advice about paranormal combat. Those letters and replies are published in the book."

Startup. It's not a hugely long book(~300 pages), but it still kept my interest for the 4-5 straight hours that it took to get through.

u/ThousandPapes · 4 pointsr/politics

Our parents' generation is fucking us so hard at every angle.

I recommend reading Transmission by Hari Kunzru. Pretty much entirely about this subject from the H1's perspective.

u/cutiepatootieadipose · 3 pointsr/booksuggestions

Jemima J.

It does have a little bit of an unhealthy part for a small bit, but it doesn't focus on that (at least I can't remember it being super negative....I read it a while ago)

I read "Superpowers: A Novel." It's kind of like a real-world take on superheroes, similar to what the TV show "Heroes" went after, but no supervillains. It's 5 college kids that randomly get superpowers and how they deal with getting them, what it means for their life, etc. I'd rate it at 3.5/5, kind of anticlimactic, but worth reading if you're craving a book like this.

Just remember to preorder Start Up A Novel By Doree Shafrir https://www.amazon.com/Startup-Novel-Doree-Shafrir/dp/0316360384

>Things you should only sometimes wear
>
>Fedoras : Fedoras can be one of the most stylish things a person can wear. They're sleek, they're stylish, and there's a reason pretty much everyone on Mad Men wears one. But if you wear one with your Iron Man Tshirt, it makes you look incapable of dressing yourself. If your are going to wear a fedora, dress in equally nice clothing, and make sure everything fits.

I'm not kidding : page 31 (amazon.fr because for some reason, page 31 is not available on amazon.com)

> Bowties : Bowties are cool.

Oh fuck you, this joke is way too old.

u/chocolateandcoffee · 5 pointsr/myfavoritemurder

I looked them up. They are Startup and Black Mad Wheel.
