This is the pen I've been using. If you like the soft nib that the surface pen has, it comes with that, and it also had a hard plastic tip. I use it for note taking in bed OneNote and marking PDF's of textbooks in Edge. It works great for me. Latency is a little bit higher than the surface pen but not too much. The pressure sensitivity is very inconsistent, so I just turned it to the point where it's basically off. Its great for notes. wouldn't not recommend for artists.

Ninja Edit: I have a surface pro 2017 with the core M though this shouldn't make a difference to my up understanding as they should use the same pen technology.

Yeah. I've been looking for something less than $30 or even less than $20. So far, I've found this. I would love to get a stylus cheaper than that but it looks like the most non-scam stylus.

/u/Ztreg, I'm pretty sure you need this one (can also be the one without the eraser but I couldn't find it). Might have a hard time finding it for an acceptable price though since the 480 is discontinued.

EDIT: German amazon has one for 33€, shipping might be rather expensive if you're not in europe though. Idk if there's an english option I could guide you through the site if you want to buy that.

Shouldn't you already have them? It's supposed to be included within the pen stand. There should be 3 of them by default.

If for some reason you don't have them, then try searching for "Wacom Hard Felt Nibs" on most online stores.

Don't get the ones that look like this (link to image) as these are meant for the newer generation pro pen styluses.

I have one, it's really just like using a finger extension. Just not the same feel as the old fashioned stylus/screen.

I've seen this thing but I dunno.. Expensive, and probably doesn't work as well as I hope.

A friend of mine used OneNote and he realized you have to sit pretty close to the front of the class. You'll be able to hear the professor fine, but you might not be able to hear what classmates are saying. Also, practice with it a few times and see if you type particularly loud. It can get really annoying to hear the lecture, but constant typing over everything.

Also, someone in my classes used this. Its a little to out there for me, but she loved it. You can record the lecture and write your notes, but the selling point is that when you review your notes, you can tap the paper you were writing on and it syncs you to the correct part of the lecture. She would put a question mark in her notes if she missed or didn't understand something then could tap that question mark with the pen later and be brought right to what the professor was saying.

Would you consider a smart pen? I use the Neo N2 and it automatically sends my handwritten notes to Evernote, PDF & OneNote optionally. Just a thought!

This is the one I’ve been considering based on what I could find and for a good price. Could you perhaps provide some insight on what you think of this particular pen?

I like this one very much. The disc tip is very fine and works well everywhere but the extreme edges where the display is curved.

I'm looking at this one here, actually...I lost my original stylus, and to replace it would be like $90..this one's about $55.

I think it's a little protrusion with a lanyard hole. A lot of older tablets have a place to physically tie the pen to the tablet with a lanyard or string.

You could also get a ThinkPad Pen or S-Pen

To upload you just need to plug the sensor into your computer and access the files. You can edit them in the Wacom software or in Photoshop/Illustrator. It holds multiple sketches so you don't need to upload all the time. Here it is on Amazon.

I would give this a try.
