If you want gear to keep your pup warm while you are out hunting you'll have to make a bit of an investment, but if you're just trying to keep him more comfortable for an hour at a time in winter, these are some options that have worked for me:

The fleece vest is very stretchy/forgiving and he will wear it for a day or two straight without issue (it's pretty light). The puffy vest is great for colder weather and adjusts well to different sizes, and if it's bitter cold I might even put it on over the fleece. I wouldn't leave that one on all day though unless you need it. The hoodie is cute but the chest is more restricting than the others so I would try the other options first.

I definitely recommend measuring your dog to make sure you are selecting the right size. Ours will happily play outside in the snow for 40 mins with a vest on, but only 10 mins without. If there is no snow he will stay outside over an hour easily with a vest.

We have a 45lb. pit mix with short hair. Last winter was pretty brutal, but we thankfully have a yard, so short pee breaks were easy.

We still walk - albeit sometimes shorter distances when it's really chilly or really windy. We got some Ruffwear stuff - the quinzie coat and the grip trex boots - that seem to help take the edge off. We also have a few zack&zoey hoodies that help keep her warm - she has almost no fur over most of her belly, even with her winter coat. It seems like even just having a quick top layer helps to take the edge off the chill. -- depending on your dogs' builds, I've seen friends buy Old Navy kids/toddler stuff and it fits their dogs too!

For us, the toughest thing is the salt. We have a few neighbors that prefer to shovel it all over their sidewalk instead of actually shoveling, so if we don't have our pup in boots, we can only get about 30 feet before she starts picking up her paws or limping. The balloon boots are fine for quick walks, but they'll start to tear up after 2-3 uses. Our ruffwear boots were pricier, but we've also used them when walking through areas with broken glass, hiking over rock, etc. We originally started getting our dog used to them around fall, so she's comfortable with them by the time we need to put them on.

They get cold easily. I have one that loves to wear her coat any time the temp outside is below 40. I can recommend a coat she might like:

He weighed around 65 pounds when I adopted him about two months ago, but has put on significant weight since then. I got him an XL which fits his neck and chest well, not too snug, but is pretty loose on his stomach. I do believe the smaller sizes would be better for that though. Pibbles are tough with their body shapes though. The last image on that page is a sizing chart and if you are considering the product would definitely recommend taking measurements. There are also a number of websites that offer similar products more catered to pitbulls and similar breeds.

I get them for my dogs, because one of mine starts shaking when it drops below 70. He hates putting them on but I know it keeps him warm.

If you're interested in buying it, here's a bit of info that might help. Unfortunately, it's super long. If I don't fold it up it goes all the way down over her butt. A boy dog would probably accidently pee on it. I ordered it in medium because she was on the cusp of being too big for small according to the size chart, but I really think small would have fit her better. She's about 10 lbs, her neck is 11 inches, her chest is 16 inches.

And for what it's worth. The hoodie part don't fit that great on him when he's awake. Hence the sleeping photo. It's definitely to short to make it over his head comfortably and he normally just shakes it off. Still looks hilarious wearing it without the hood up. It's getting cold in Philadelphia now so he's always wearing it now.

I hat clothes shopping too! They don't make clothes for very tall people either. But my puppy loves clothes and would love this.

Make sure you measure your baby! These outfits run really funny. I also had to take up the legs to make them short enough. But for $10 well worth it.

The size she is wearing is a medium, she is 20lbs. I feel like a large would have been a bit of a better fit. The medium is a little tight for being a hoodie.

If you’re serious, there’s a product designed to help with this called a Happy Hoodie. The OP is a cute setup for a picture but won’t actually help much when trying to dry a dog.

I had a dog with a noise phobia and those wouldn't stay on him very well. A happy hoodie was much easier to wear/cope with (he could sleep on his side comfortably and couldn't get it off without a lot of effort)
