If it’s in its own room, there is an adapter on Thingiverse for a 4” tube to go to a fan and such to vent out a window.

https://youtu.be/Rhyf_JttQEY watch this to learn how to properly hollow prints. You don’t have to for jewelry unless it’s really thick but otherwise it’s worth doing to save on that expensive resin.

I personally only use Anycubic resin. I tried one of the cheaper trains on Amazon (monoprice) and couldn’t get anything to print on it. Ended up slowly mixing that resin into some Anycubic resin to not have a waste of a bottle.

If you have Facebook, there are great groups out there for troubleshooting and discussion

https://youtu.be/roAqm5c3rfU this is the flint reed method of leveling the bed. I heard of it before I got my printer and used this method out of the box. Works perfectly

You’ll eventually need to change out the film. These work great and cost way less than the official $10 single sheet. YouTube how to change out. Pretty simple after you do it once.

When using the Photon slicer, I always use medium or heavy supports. Had several failures trying to use just light supports

That’s all I can think of for now.

For a child, you definitely want a clasp that breaks away easily to keep the necklace from becoming a choking hazard. Maybe that is why the ones at the store break so easily? I personally have not used the magnetic clasps, but that seems like it would be a good idea as long as you are sure she will not try to swallow these if she does end up breaking the necklace.

I personally like elastic string/thread or stretchy string for younger children as it can be pulled a fair amount before it breaks. Using a breakaway clasp should limit the possibility that it will break. You should be able to buy something like this in any craft store and in a variety of thicknesses to match the beads. You may want to skip the adult jewelry/bead area and head to the children's section first to see what craft materials they have available that are more age appropriate.

My concern regarding the beads would again be the choking hazard, so you might forego the beads for now and when she is old enough, let her string her own beaded necklace. Some places do sell large, wooden block-type beads that may be big enough to not fit in her mouth, but I am not sure how comfortable it would be for regular use.

This bead lace looks pretty sturdy: http://www.michaels.com/easy-beads-bead-lace-assorted-colors/10105013.html#q=beads&start=19

Here's an example of stretch cord: http://www.michaels.com/10205861.html#q=beads&start=21

Here's an example of the large wooden beads: http://www.amazon.com/Constructive-Playthings-Large-Wooden-Colored/dp/B0035Y7BIW

And finally, here's just some simple plastic beads that are sold in lots of sets for kids: http://www.michaels.com/creatology-bead-sample-pack-tropical-hearts/10187167.html

Hopefully someone with more experience can chime in. Otherwise, I'd be happy to try to help answer any other questions you may have.

I buy stuff for my desk, things like lotion, deodorant, Tylenol, cold meds, and cough drops. If I don't get them now, they never seem to make it to school. Basically anything you wish you had at some point last year. Stock up!

Copies of things you need for the first week. My syllabus/ lab safety information has been condensed to one page, front and back. I get signatures, but lets be honest, 90% of parents/students don't actually read it.

Seating charts: They are assigned seats the first day. I change them up after a few weeks if things aren't working.

I have two organizational things in my classroom that really help. I have a box for students to hand in their assignments. It is similar to this, except I got my hubby to make me one out of wood. https://www.amazon.com/Pacon-Classroom-Homework-Collector-001336/dp/B014CD2O2M

I also have a file drawer full of hanging files. I write on the tabs with wet erase markers. The inside of the tab has the days of the week, on the outside I put the date 8/9.

I put my copies here. I have a file drawer for each class I teach. I can easily check to see if I have copies made for a particular day. I can file copies a week or two in advance if I get them done ahead of time. I have trained myself to put the extras back in the file folders so I don't have to search my room for a stack of papers to hand out to the next class.

Finally, I dedicate whiteboard space for a weekly agenda for each class. I am much less likely to forget something if it's on the board. If nothing else, a student will ask me when I'm going to hand out the crossword puzzle if they know it's homework and want to get started early.

If you don't have space, I recommend getting an easel and cut some white shower board to size and make your own whiteboards. I've actually nailed some shower board to the cabinets in the back of my room. It works :)

So consequences aren't working. You need to do the opposite. Reward for good behavior. Start with a token board. That's an example. If you want to give it a try, I can make a custom one for you. He needs to earn things by good behavior. Taking things away isn't working. Talk to mom. What is his favorite cereal? If he likes fruit loops, if people during group time are doing what they're told, make a big production of rewarding them. "OH BILLY, you're doing such A GREAT JOB at SITTING. Have a FRUIT LOOP." Keep doing it. It will also help with the others too.

For a token board, you need to come up with rewards he'll work for. I would go for edibles because you are alone. I can give you more details if you want to go forward with this.

You need a system that is low maintenance, something you can do on the fly, something that is automatic, and something that can be reinforcing to everyone.

What is your whole class behavior plan? Is it working with the other students?

Also, stop giving him a chair at group time. Make a box out of duct tape on the carpet (it comes off the carpet easier than masking tape). That's his magic box. He can earn chair privileges when he learns how to behave. He may also have a hard time sitting still during group time. He may need a fidget. I know that is a bad word in education. I give this thing to some of my students. I would also get a wobble cushion for group and possibly his chair. (That one is good because its 13" and it doesn't have the real aggressive knobby things on it that some kids don't like.) He can't use it unless he's in his magic box. At group, put his chair in a magic box. I would look at getting him a kick band for his chair. (Pro tip, call some local physical therapy clinics and see if they will donate 2 feet of non-latex theraband.)

You sometimes need multiple approaches.

Does he know all uppercase and lowercase letters? Start with that - puzzles are a fun way to learn these.

If you're really serious about teaching reading you can then move onto phonics. There are some great phonics songs on Youtube, i.e. this one. Check at your local library for the Leapfrog "Factory" series (Here's one of them). These are a lot of fun and a great way to solidify basic phonics information. You can also start working on Fry's sight word list . 25 words makes up 1/3 of all we read, its crazy! Current research recommends a combination of phonics and sight words for teaching reading. Go very slowly with these sight words so as to not make it a tedious chore. I do 2 sight words at a time which we review as part of our bedtime routine, and only add new words after previous words have been mastered, and will occasionally have my son review the words he already mastered to keep that information fresh. Utilize a multitude of strategies/songs/games/etc to keep it fresh and fun. My son loved this phonics rap song on Youtube which I would have never guessed, (and he hated these word circles which I figured he'd love) so let your kid have options/choices in this whenever possible as that will enhance their learning.

After basic phonics have been mastered as well as some sight words, you can move onto Bob Books and some sight word books. Go slow, be encouraging (reading English is SO difficult when you really get into it!) and utilize multiple methods and he'll do great!

I have a lot of easels but my favorite and the one that is the most convent and folds up the smallest that I have is the Winsor & Newton artist Easel bristol water color Aluminum its my favorite it also tilts all the way so if you need it to be flat you can to paint any way you like its so easy to assemble and you can carry it anywhere it weighs almost nothing compared to the other heavy easels I have that are wood and heavy and hard to assemble this one is great! I highly recommend investing in this easel it will make traveling to paint a breeze and for storage it takes up no room. It comes with a tiny carry case with handles its the best!!! I am so spoiled I can't paint with any of my other easels. https://www.amazon.com/Winsor-Newton-Bristol-Aluminum-Colour/dp/B0038M1KX8

Pink is the new black ! Awesome pink sparkle pen, and a pretty great set of pink sparkle wall decals. Fun! Also- pink sparkle butterfly wings might be fun decor for the back of his chair maybe? :)

First of all, congratulations!

I don't seem to have many pictures of my classroom, but I'll try my best. I teach Grades 5-8 English and Social Studies, but my homeroom is Grade 7/8, so I'll tell you what I have in my classroom for English. I try to make sure my posters contain useful information for the students and leave enough wall space to display some of their work.

Posters:

  • Writing Process: http://amzn.to/UFY2q2; Parts of Speech: http://bit.ly/XpAk2J. I also have various posters from The Oatmeal (semi-colon, e.g. vs. i.e., and apostrophe usage), which I sometimes display.

Classroom photos including an interactive spelling display, weekly writing prompts w/ birthdays, quote, and classroom rules poster, and half of our facebook wall. I have lockers in my room that students don't use, so I use them as displays with magnets: http://imgur.com/a/aBVa1

I have made these and use them to display upcoming tests from all classes, not just mine: http://bit.ly/1sau0qj

These are what I use for inboxes: http://bit.ly/1tDEYaG. Mine aren't nearly as fancy though, and I've separated them by subject (spelling, grammar, vocab, reading, writing).

I also have a Character Rocks display: http://bit.ly/1rX404i

Lastly, I have a large map of the world that I mainly use for Social Studies, but my kids love to look at it and find places anytime. Sometimes when students are having a hard time focusing, I'll ask them to find three random countries on the map. It gets them up and moving for a bit, and I have found it really helps them to get back to work once they have finished.

Edited to add: If my school reimburses me for classroom supplies, then they are considered the school's property. I prefer to buy my own things and take then with me when I leave.
u/hottoddy · 1 pointr/Leathercraft

If you're not comfortable with curves, but are willing to prototype in cardstock, then I would recommend picking up a set of drafter's french curves. I have this set of 8, and they are a nice thick plastic (you can definitely just apply them to a squarish leather scratch-out and scratch against them ad-hoc), that you can make tick marks against with a sharpie to use the 'same curve' on multiple pieces.

I don't know a good way to make pleasing curves without doing it by eye, and I don't know a good way to make those curves discrete/repeatable without using a french curve. Bonus - these are also great for a wide variety of corner rounding.

If you have the extra money but not the time to plan it out yourself some of the preplanned teaching programs for your child to read can be helpful: https://smile.amazon.com/Reading-Program-Preschool-Kindergarten-Alphabet/dp/B00GFBNXNO/

Just keep in mind they aren't some kind of magic. They still require a significant time and investment teaching your child to read.

What these kinds of programs do provide though is essentially a structured lesson plan for you to follow.

I did the "Your Baby Can Read" program with my son and he is now 9 years old and about 3 grade levels ahead in reading. He has a major love for reading and regularly reads ~200 pages a week or more.

I just want to reiterate though that you can do something like this on your own without one of those programs just fine probably for cheaper. The only advantage of this is the structured plan and steps surrounding the learning process.

That and you have to be dedicated enough to actually follow the entire plan. If you do it'll probably work wonders mostly from the time and effort both you and your child will have to do to complete it.

Thanks for the love, guys! Glad you enjoyed it as much as my boyfriend did, and I did making it. Here is a breakdown of the cost if anyone is interested.

  • Un-Laminated Map $13
  • Laminated Map $20 (seems to be on sale now, of course -_-)
  • Frame $18 (was half off at Joann's Fabric)
  • Mod Podge $10 (didn't use, will probably return)
  • Mod Podge brush $3 (again, didn't use)
  • Glue Stick and X-acto knife I already had
  • I was lucky enough to be able to use my mom's high quality photo printer and photo paper, supplies she already had, but I imagine using Walgreens or Office Depot to print pictures would only be a few bucks depending on size.

This project did take a couple of hours, between going through and picking out the pictures, measuring, cutting, etc. I just threw on some HGTV and chugged along! It really didn't seem like a hassle of a project since I enjoyed what I was doing and knew my boyfriend would appreciate it. Was well worth it!

PS props to /u/vulgo for helping Photoshop the Florida pic!

You bring up a great point, and I wish I could tell you that the "be-all, end-all" decisions regarding dimensions / weight / etc. were left to CubiScan. However, those measurements and weights affect so many things in the process from the time we receive an item until it goes out the door to a customer, that there is rarely a black and white answer for things. Also, there are items we as associates question every day as to why the system states an item is sortable v. nonsortable. I've also said several times in this forum that we stretch CubiScan's capabilities beyond what its manufacturer intended because, as of right now, it's the best thing we have. CubiScan was designed to capture dimensions and weights of boxed items -- hence its name -- and it does a great job at that. But, as you all are well aware, not every item comes to us boxed. I've suggested to a couple of folks in PMs that if they want more control over the dimensional measurements of their products, send them to us pre-boxed. But, that's a cost-benefit analysis thing -- am I paying more to have an item boxed than I would be in paying for "air" in a poly bag...more on that later. Let's look at some examples based upon your plastic totes comment...and some other things that pop up as well...I hope reddit let's me link to items on the AMZN site. These items are chosen based upon our experiences with them, so disregard the brand, etc. and consider the items themselves. Here we go...

  1. This item easily fits within the confines of one of our totes, but is it a sortable item? I draw your attention to the fact that this item weighs 99 pounds.
    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00NY7MCTI/ref=sspa_dk_detail_1?psc=1

  2. This item can be physically folded several times, but would you want to receive a $500 item folded six or seven times and crammed into a small box to save on shipping? https://www.amazon.com/Versace-Collection-Applique-Trousers-Black/dp/B0718Y9HFJ/ref=sr_1_45?ie=UTF8&qid=1520453592&sr=8-45&keywords=versace+apparel+for+men

  3. Let's assume this item doesn't come boxed from the manufacturer [in reality, it does], but rather, the manufacturer poly bags it UNFOLDED, with the bag being slightly larger than 3' X 5'. Our packers are not given time to fold items and are prompted by the system on which size box to select based upon items being packed. Do we measure the item as it is in-hand, or CubiScan it folded? How many folds? https://www.amazon.com/SolarGuard-Specifications-Annin-Flagmakers-145660/dp/B0018ZUBDW/ref=sr_1_9?s=lawn-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1520453937&sr=1-9&keywords=state+flag+nylon

  4. This item requires bubble wrapping to protect the item, but more importantly, the associates handling it. Bubble wrapping dramatically changes the dimensions of an item, but it must be taken into account because that is how the item will be shipped. https://www.amazon.com/Body-Solid-Oly-Power-Chrome/dp/B0039Z5FHQ/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1520454668&sr=8-5&keywords=free+weight+bar

  5. Shouldn't these be sortable items? They can fit into a tote with causing damage to the item. They aren't. https://www.amazon.com/Carson-Dellosa-144030-Scalloped-Borders-Variety/dp/B0043C1ZV4/ref=sr_1_15?ie=UTF8&qid=1520454837&sr=8-15&keywords=bulletin+board+borders

  6. Sortable? Yes. Why? The way it's packaged. https://www.amazon.com/DC-300529-Shoes-Court-Graffik/dp/B077T6K1Z2/ref=sr_1_84?s=apparel&ie=UTF8&qid=1520455679&sr=1-84&nodeID=679255011&psd=1&keywords=dc+shoes+mens

  7. Sortable? No. Why? The way it's packaged. https://www.amazon.com/Woolrich-Oxbow-Flannel-Forest-Medium/dp/B01NBKMYGM/ref=sr_1_28?ie=UTF8&qid=1520455756&sr=8-28&keywords=mens+flannel+shirts

I just finished a 4 year degree note taking with a FP for the whole thing. I used a combination of a Lamy Safari and a Parker 51 mostly with parker blue-black ink or Diamine Sunset. Towards the end I had a VP too but I only got that when I was offered a grad job. For me I took notes from the lecture slides that were released before the lecture that way I didn't need to worry about copying off the slides during the lecture and could just make notes on what the lecturer was saying. I'd use one darker colour for the slide notes and then a brighter colour for what the lecturer was saying.

I used a squared a4 brunnen notebook, 3 of them actually. Its similar to this although not quite. I found for my final project I used a leuchtturm 1917 A5 because it was easier to take to meetings and the library in a coat pocket.

If I were to do it again I'd invest early in a really smooth pen that doesn't fatigue your hand but then maybe it was better to have that cheap safari because I wasn't too bothered what happened to it and I was happier to use and abuse it. I see a lot of people now using EF nibs but don't be afraid of mediums or thicker, they are so much smoother! Best of luck with your studies.

I think my DM would prefer more theatre of the mind, but I am absolutely bollux with it and my group is very tactically minded. So we use a mat + minis the vast majority of the time.

This mat is our go-to for pretty much every encounter. It's easy to use, easy to store, and reusable by anyone in anything we're running, from one-shots to our major campaign.

If we want to work up a dungeon in advance, then there's something more like this. I've used both ways. They're both great.

Minis, you can do in several ways.

Here are 5,000 translucent round tokens that are smaller than an inch. You can use your wet erase marker from your battle map to write numbers on them. You can also use them to denote status effects. There are tons of different colors that you can get them in and in smaller batches than this one, but this will give you an idea of what to look for.

Here are 1" wooden circles. They also come in 2" and 3" varieties. That gives you Small/medium, Large, and Huge creatures.

Oh, and here's a tutorial on how to make paper circle tokens. You can print these out on cardstock, cut them out, and use a glue stick to stick them to your wooden tokens.

And! If you don't want to cut out a shit ton of little paper tokens, you can buy paper punches that will cut them for you. I have them in 1", 2" and 3" size.

I also have Paizo minis, but the circle tokens get used a lot more because they're much more versatile. And players love being able to have their own token for their character.

I do have way too much time on my hands since going part-time at my job and know that I still would never put that much effort into a bullet journal. I love looking at other people's though--so many creative and beautiful entries.

For me, planners like this and this or this serve the best purpose.

u/mividaremix · 3 pointsr/asmr

My earliest ASMR memories were from elementary school. There are plenty of videos in this theme, but I haven’t found vids with certain triggers.

The first “missing trigger” from when I was little was when the teacher used a chalkboard liner on the board. The teacher did it slowly, always smooth with none of those horrible “nail on a chalkboard” sounds. I’ve never seen one in an ASMR.

The next thing was the light clacking of the teachers shoes as they walked the room during tests. Very quiet and slow clacks from a pair of low heels. Sometimes I’ll hear that sound, but not necessarily in that context and usually not a focal point.

Weirdly, the last one was the lice lady. Something about the calming voice paired with the feeling of the long qtips on the scalp. I know there are a lot of cranial massage-type things, but I think I’d like to see more... localized style? Like I don’t necessarily want a literal lice check video, but maybe some type of scalp thing that uses more precise tools as triggers (as opposed to brushing and the like). I think I like the spatial aspect.

u/MaskedThespian · 2 pointsr/EDH

I live at both ends of the spectrum.

For the majority of my decks, I'm just not that fussed about it. I use the same plain sleeves for all of the decks (1: so that I can swap cards between them easily, and 2: because I can then buy the sleeves in bulk and save money) and don't care all that much about matching playmats, deck boxes, or anything else. I use the same set of dice, life counters, playmats, and +1/+1-1/-1 counters (from the Commander's Arsenal) for all of them. Tokens that match the decks are nice, though, so I do like to find the appropriate tokens and include them with the decks, though I have also purchased a number of blank, white, plastic playing cards that can be used with dry erase markers so that I can, in essence, have any token I want within seconds.

Having said that, for a handful of my decks I do go a lot further than that, and in one case I'm going all the way. For example, for my [X] deck I'm in the process of trying to acquire four of the Tenth Edition spindown dice (that have the set symbol, an "X", on the "10" side of the spindown), two in Blue and two in Black, so that I can have my life total at the start of the game read "XXXX".

And for my [[Nicol Bolas, the Ravager]] deck, which is going to be the first deck that I ever try to fully foil out, I'm going the whole hog:

  • A matching playmat of the Invocation [[Omniscience|MPS]] from the artist's website, signed by the artist (Josh Hass),

  • 5 copies of the Nicol Bolas, God-Pharoah Relic token to use to track Loyalty on all five of the Bolas Planeswakers in the deck. I'm still debating getting a foil version to use for my life total, or whether to go for War of the Spark (Blue and Black) and Hour of Devastation (Red) spindowns (so the symbols match and the colours of the spindowns match his Grixis colour identity),

  • The deck itself is sleeved in the [[Nicol Bolas, the Arisen]] sleeves from M19, which themselves are sleeved in KMC Character Guard Sleeves to protect the artwork on the sleeves. Likewise, tokens for the deck are sleeved in War of the Spark's [[Nicol Bolas, Dragon-God]] sleeves which are also protected by Character Guards,

  • All of the cards, tokens, and Relic Tokens are stored in two deck boxes: the matching Nicol Bolas, the Arisen and Nicol Bolas, Dragon-God Pro-100+ deck boxes, with some room to breathe so that the cards and tokens don't get damaged, and,

  • I'm trying to work out a way to easily transport the deck boxes, the dice, the playmat, as well as the Nicol Bolas Funko Pop figure that I own (to use as a mascot when I play the deck), all in a convenient box or case. At this point I'm thinking that I'll likely need something with custom foam (maybe something as simple as a pluck-foam case such as from KR Multicase) just so that I can fit the Funko Pop figure in (as otherwise an Ultimate Guard SuperHive 550+ would likely work for the playmat and deck boxes).

I like it, nice coverage and cool stickers. What might look cool is to add a black border around the edges with the really thin marking tape like this: https://www.amazon.com/Chartpak-Graphic-Inches-Black-BG1251/dp/B002Q1I2AG/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1505996982&sr=8-2&keywords=thin+electrical+tape

If she's into pen(cil) and paper, she might enjoy a prortable drafting table (such as https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001E1RFW0/ref=asc_df_B001E1RFW05085944)
... plus a triangle. My parents did this for me when I took a drafting elective in high school & I enjoyed it.

Sketchup & other software is super useful, but a helluva learning curve. As others have said, introduce her to the greats & help her find a style she digs. I was obsessed once I learned about Frank Lloyd Wright.

Surce: Not an architect, but strongly considered it & believe I could've enjoyed the career.

I think they would absolutely work without the glitter! Painting the inside should work, but you might have to do multiple coats to cover any streaking.

I know they make lots of thickness of black tape that aren't glittery. I was originally going to use this until I found the glitter tape:

For the button they make the same type of cardboard in matte colors. If you go to the scrap-booking section of any craft store they'll be a bunch styles/colors to choose from!
