Mine came with a 500 watt power supply and I haven't done a ton of testing but I think it will get the job done easily. I have a 650w PSU I can use if that doesn't work. I really like the duplicator case. When the time comes make a copy of this setup, epoxy them together side by side and put some office chair wheels on the bottom haha.

I was really tempted to get this case, but just didn't have a reason for all that storage:

Copystars Duplicator case for build Blu-ray-CD-dvd-duplicator tower + power supply

Cooling is just one 120mm fan in the back which I upgraded (came with an 80mm fan, but had the holes for a 120mm fan)

Also each 5 HDD bay has a pretty powerful fan on the back.

u/thebiglebrewski · 1 pointr/techsupport

Thanks for the suggestions! Yeah, it seems more and more likely some kind of basic USB bus with many readers attached may be my best bet, unfortunately.

Duplicator is nice but I tried one on a smaller scale (https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B005WLY7X8/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1) and I couldn't boot into the duplicated cards from new Pis.

Appreciate it!

The Denon DN-300R, 500R and 700R can record to SD and USB simultaneously for redundant recordings, in MP3 or WAV, not sure if that helps fit your use case... throw it in a 1U rack case and it's fairly portable (or 2u case and you can keep supplies in a 1u drawer, or use a 1U UPS as the "battery" you're looking for). I've only used the 700R, but from a quick search the -300R (cheap at only $199!) and -500R do the exact same thing (the -700R will also record to network stores).

Tascam probably makes a similar device too.

I've never tried the flash drive duplicator, but it should just be able to take the USB stick and dupe it to multiple others, then. I found this one on a quick Amazon search but it looks like multiple people make different sizes of them too.

This doesn't help the CD-side of things, but nothing with CDs was ever quick or easy.

Yup i have two and wished now i kind of went a different route. It washes out my video playing in my theater room a bit and hear them clear upstairs. From the other poster looks like swapping fans is not worth it.

There was a poster somewhere (maybe different reddit group) that converted one of these (Premium 9 Bay Case with Duplicator Power Supply) into a JBOD DAS.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008T5WHX6/ref=s9u_simh_gw_i2?ie=UTF8&fpl=fresh&pd_rd_i=B008T5WHX6&pd_rd_r=07e38127-2184-11e8-a77e-4f4ee7533ebd&pd_rd_w=VUU3q&pd_rd_wg=Eos7Y&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=&pf_rd_r=8N3DR31MDJ2X7ZN2EZQV&pf_rd_t=36701&pf_rd_p=e6624b56-7cc1-411f-9d12-9cc8feb6c214&pf_rd_i=desktop

Just add in an expander/LSI card and a JBOD power board or whatever setup you want to use. Than you get 15 bays. The cost ended up being almost 400 when done.

EDIT: Still they are pretty solid so you can't go wrong with one. Except possibly noise. Just get dual PSU and don't forget to take out the second IC Module if you don't want orange lights. I keep mine in but just popped out enough to not be plugged in. That way the airflow doesn't get messed up with a hole in the back.

You mean drives contained in USB enclosures?
Yes, for example: http://www.amazon.com/Spartan-Target-Portable-Compact-Duplicator/dp/B00428NAIU/
edit: Here's one that has 1 not horrible review:
http://www.amazon.com/SySTOR-Multiple-Duplicator-Copier-SYS-USBD-15/dp/B00DV39M8E/

edit2: Here's one that says it specifically supports 2.5" drives:

u/HalflinsLeaf · 13 pointsr/news

Why don't people get this. Making a single recording of a song they are already giving away for free is very different than people ripping the whole album and using these: https://www.amazon.com/Produplicator-Duplicator-Software-Replication-Recorder/dp/B002TIBI3O

u/R79DNC · 2 pointsr/msp

There's another option no one mention yet. If your not that large or if you don't have the time or desire to use any of the methods mentioned here that require a server you could just buy a nice duplicator. It's handy to have one around anyway.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00DWICNBG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_it6Pyb0D47RV1

Same concept as the server, configure and sysprep one workstation, grab the HDD to use as the master and throw the others into the bays. Obviously this requires more manual labor and it's not as easy to have multiple HDDs laying around to use as images but it could work depending on your situation.

I know I'll be raked over the coals for this suggestion but I wanted to present all of the options, even the less efficient.

u/Letmefixthatforyouyo · 15 pointsr/talesfromtechsupport

That is far too inefficient. They will really need this, at a bare minimium. If they want to do it right, [this](http://www.amazon.com/R-Quest-Automated-Standalone-Duplicator-1000/dp/B00494O77A/ref=sr_1_9?
s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1343065989&sr=1-9&keywords=automated+cd+burner) is the obvious choice.

OP needs to make it so expensive the very thought of the project causes his boss to wince. Lets see how he synergies the proactive training methods now.

u/cypherreddit · 1 pointr/AskLEO

something like this with someone trained to use them. I don't know what interface the on-person recorders use, so a custom device may need to be made

The biggest hurdle would be everyone following procedure, otherwise known as the reason for needing recording in the first place.

u/BobJ8 · 1 pointr/storage

So I have a couple of ideas for you. First if you just wanted to run off straight clones of the drive every time this is a pretty cheap way to do it. It has a offline clone feature that allows it to clone from one drive to another without a computer. The biggest problem here is you would have to do them one at a time.

Inateck USB 3.0 to SATA Dual-Bay USB 3.0 Hard Drive Docking Station with Offline Clone Function fit 2.5"/3.5" HDD SSD SATA (SATA I/II/ III), Support 2x 8TB and UASP, Black (FD2002) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00N1KXE9K/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_GvhJBbQ9DP734

Next would be a similar solution but this would do it all at the same time. Cost is a lot higher. Although it’s going to be a one time cost that might pay for its self with time saving.

Systor Systems 1:5 SATA 2.5" & 3.5" Dual Port/Hot Swap Hard Disk Drive/Solid State Drive (HDD/SSD) Clone Duplicator/Sanitizer (90MB/s) 3.5 inches SYS105HS-DP https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00DWICN5W/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_7yhJBbZW57HMB

Cheaper version ( I am not sure if you would need software with this one or not. Need to check into before purchasing)

Hard Drive Duplicator eSATA Dock - GLOTRENDS K4 4 Bay USB 3.0 + eSATA Hard Drive Docking Station with Clone/Duplicator Function for 2.5/3.5 inch SATA Hard Drive(Diskless) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B072FCB433/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_FzhJBbV9A5YJH

Full disclosure I have used and like the top option and have not used either of the other. I don’t see any reason why they wouldn’t work for what you want.

u/candre23 · 3 pointsr/DataHoarder

Sure, if you buy it off ebay. The case costs $82, and 4-in-3 hot swap cages are around $50 each. That's about half of the ebay price, even factoring in a PSU and internal cables. You'll need the SAS controller card in your server and external cables regardless of which case you go with for your storage box.

This type of setup is still cheaper than rackmount cases, especially if you don't already have a rack to mount them in.

u/Drak3 · 2 pointsr/homelab

to follow the rules, and please the moderation team, adding a top-level comment w/ details about this:

I was building a tower DAS using this case and some triple 5.25" to 5x3.5" bays to expand my NAS storage. what I didn't realize was that the case didn't have actual PCIe slots, but had Centronics/parallel port punchouts. because I didn't want to spend another $80 for the proper SFF-8088 to SFF-8087 adapters, I just used the zipties, as shown. here are additional pics of the build.

u/plasmaticriver · 3 pointsr/skrillex

Really all you would need is one of those devices that can copy all of the contents of a USB stick like this (copies 2GB per minute lol) or even just a laptop and a little bit of time. Theoretically, if you could swipe it when no one is looking and its not being used (before or after the show) and copy at least some of the content (maybe just file search "Skrillex"?) and put it back in time, no one would notice.

I would never attempt something as risky as this tho. Certainly not something to attempt during the performance. If you did it the way you described, it would make headlines and be a huge mess. Also, I wouldn't leak everything out of respect for Sonny. There's surely stuff on there that would have consequences if leaked but all the old bootlegs and VIPs would prolly be fine.

u/jevchance · 2 pointsr/applehelp

I recommend something like this. Its admirable that you want to help your friend, but you're going to want to die by the end of this.

u/soccergoon13 · 1 pointr/homelab

I'm eyeing this:
https://www.amazon.com/BestDuplicator-Premium-Duplicator-Supply-target/dp/B008T5WHX6/

To use with SAS when I get a new set up.

Right now I use a Lian-Li 7 bay mitx case with this addonics card (5 sata -> esata if you have port multiplying or 5 sata -> usb3
https://www.amazon.com/Addonics-AD5HPMREU-Storage-Controller/dp/B005TLJZ92/

Don't pay that much for the card, I got it for $100 from Addonics

u/Hirsute_Kong · 1 pointr/buildapc

What is a relatively cheap case (for DAS) that isn't as deep as the Rosewill 4U server chassis in JDM's DAS build? I have found Copystar's 9 bay so far. My cabinet is only 19" deep.

u/bauerknight · 2 pointsr/DataHoarder

Do you see any issues getting the 13 bay case instead of the 9 bay one?

They seem fairly expensive, but this looks like what you're looking for.

Or one of these

I mean if you wanted to be somewhat reasonable.

I changed my search terms from USB Formatter to USB Eraser and was able to find this.

https://www.amazon.com/Acumen-Disc-Standalone-Duplicator-2CopyUSB/dp/B00E8L49QI/ref=sr_1_14?ie=UTF8&qid=1480706773&sr=8-14&keywords=usb+eraser

The brand is a little shaky but it might do the job.

Raspberry Pi idea is dope if this doesn't end up working.

u/JonDum · 1 pointr/teslamotors

You could do it without scripting by imaging and copying a pre-made image with everything setup as OP has it, then duplicating it with one of these bad boys. Still would require manual assembly and someway of injecting WiFi password.

Raspberries are annoying as heck to log-in too without networking, but you could launch a gui application when you connect it to a computer that then writes the Wifi password back to /etc/network/interfaces so when it gets plugged into the car it can connect to your wifi and provide a http website so that you can check on its status, configure settings, etc

u/itswhateveryo · 1 pointr/techsupport

If you're trying to actually rip CDs, they make towers that have multiple drives in them such as this but if you're trying to pull data from those CDs to your hard drive, you're going to be limited by the speed of that hard drive, no matter how many disc drives you transfer from at once.

If you want faster transfer speeds, look at getting a solid state hard drive (SSD).
