I️ have one of these:
Allen Cottonwood Fishing Rod & Gear Bag, Olive https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00MK16O3O/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_8fLbAb8SXG37N
I️ keep it in my house unless I’m on a trip, but it could easily be kept in my trunk. I️ like it because it’s not huge, so it forces me to keep my rods, reels, spools, leaders, tippet, fly boxes, tools, etc. organized between outings. I really love it.
I don't have that case but I have an Allen one I bought from Amazon that I like which is half the cost.

Maybe a stupid suggestion, but would a fishing rod bag work?

something like this
https://www.amazon.ca/Plano-4442-Fabric-Green-42-Inch/dp/B009YSFW8Y/ref=sr_1_17?crid=LZ1J6XCHGO7S&keywords=fishing+rod+case&qid=1568749180&sprefix=fishing+rod+%2Caps%2C235&sr=8-17
Used to just lay the rods in the back of the truck our have them run down the middle of the suv. Then one of the kids slipped and landed on the rods.
Now I use this. It holds 4-5 rods. I also got the larger one

If you want to get fancy you can use a line counter.

Personally, I spool it until it's almost full, by leaving about 1/8 - 1/4 inch of the spool exposed.
hmmm, maybe this:

I have this. I like it alot. It holds 4, 4 piece 9ft or shorter rods, 7 reels or spools, and has tons of pockets for everything else.
