I don't need this rolling rack, but it would be a huge help for my business (i knit stuff and sell it at local art festivals) it would be a great way to display my scarves and such :)

I have a wishlist called "I can't walk around naked" that has clothes that i would love to get. There are a few bras on there. I was recently fitted properly and found out I'm not a D or a DD or even an E, I'm actually a 34G. That is a size that isn't in most stores, and bras are expensive in specialty stores. A new bra that fits properly would make me (and the girls) very very happy.

There are tons more people in this thread that are more deserving than I am, and I feel bad even posting my requests on here. But it would be pretty cool to get something off my list :)

Try putting your bed with the long side against the wall. That way during the day or when guests are over, you can proper you pillows along the wall and have it look more couch like, less bed like. Try a rolling closet. I find having my clothes in the open keeps me from allowing it to get messy and pared down to what I actually love and wear frequently. You may want to find a small card or patio table for eating at (personally, I am not fond of eating on my bed or desk due to not wanting to spill stuff in those areas and find a "dining" table of some kind important). It doesn't really sound like you need much else in the way of furniture though. If you do get a few things, make sure they serve dual purposes. For example, say you buy 2 chairs for your table, you could use one while working at your desk and pull them over around the bed/couch when people are over for additional seating. Then you wouldn't need numerous chairs to serve individual functions. A cheap cube unit, strategically placed, could provide storage and a bit of a visual room divider too.

If you keep an open mind, living in small spaces is very freeing, especially if you are younger and don't have kids yet. Less to clean, less you "need" to own, necessary to be creative to maximize functionality of the space and most importantly, your own space. You start to see living space in a different way too and in the future, probably won't be so inclined to buy a massive expensive house that needs massive amounts of upkeep. We got so used to small space living (our smallest apartment was 250 sq ft and we lived there 2 years), that even though now we own a over 900 sq ft condo, it is pretty empty and the space so efficiently utilized, it is more like we have 4 or 5 rooms rather than the one bedroom, bonus room and living/dining/kitchen area it actually has. Being able to live in less and utilize a space efficiently is handy skill to have in life and you'll learn it living in your studio apartment. Good luck to you.

We live in a one bedroom house. It is about the size of a larger one bedroom apartment but it is not huge. I am terrified of our house being over run with baby crap and toys. I saw my friends living room and it looked like Rainbow Dash was murdered in there.

The first thing we did was get rid of everything we didn't need. Old cloths, repeat items, everything that was just stuff sitting around. We freed up a lot of space. It also helped us get rid of stuff by thinking about what we wouldn't want lying around with a toddler. Do I really need to keep this cool decorative marble egg thing? Nope it's round and the perfect size for a kid to choke on.

Though our house is small we have a fairly large bedroom so for us a full size crib fits. We did not bother to get a pack and play for our house. No need because the living room is literally right next to the bedroom. I think mini cribs are not very economical. Double check the size. A tall kid won't fit in them as long and some of the weight and age limits are fairly low. There are folding mini cribs though and depending on your space it might work for you. It has a changing table that can be used for a little while, but mostly we chose it because it all unzips and is washable! We have not used it yet but it is sturdy.

The crib we chose has a drawer on the bottom. It is not a big drawer but it fits ALL of our bedding and swadles. We only bought two crib sheets and two mattress pads. However, we have the luxery of a washer and dryer.

It folds fairly small and does not have cords. We have not actuchaly used it yet (baby due any day) but it folds up very nicely.

When we get a high chair it will be a folding one. If you have a chair the kind that sraps on might be better. We have benches so it would not work for us.

We do have a chaning table that was gifted to us but we never would have bought one. It fits at the end of our bed. Our plan was just to put a pad on our desk.

We don't have room for another dresser so we bought a ton of baby hangers and cleared a spot in our closet. Target has the hangers for super cheep! 99 cents for a 10 pack and free shipping. Not sure where you are located though.

We have a glider chair in another corner and we got two free pieces of small office furniture. Baby cloths that can`t be hung up like pants and socks go in one drawer. The small square cubby holds toys and books. When the kid is bigger all the plastic toys (mega blocks etc) are going outside on our deck in an all weather bench that opens up.

We don't have a bath tub but our shower can acomidate a wheel chair so it is fairly large. We ended up getting a baby tub that has a hook on it that hangs in the shower. They make folding or inflatable baby tubs that take up less space.

One last thing for laundry that we bought was an over the door drying rack. We are cloth diapering and wanted to be able to hang rinsed out diapers so they don't mold before being washed properly. We did not have room for one of the acordian style racks. When not in use it folds up and fits right between our washer and the wall. We have a shared walk-in, plus one dresser each and a large free standing closet system in the bedroom. Skirts, blouses, blazers, outerwear, coats and dresses are all hanging; t-shirts, socks, knitwear and scarves are folded in drawers, Konmari-style. I have a shelf for stacks of jeans and trousers - the current season ones are at the front, since it's a deep shelf. I have a box with little dividers for my silk scarf collection, and a flat box for evening clutches, wraps, etc. I also keep underwear, bras and workout clothes in white photo storage boxes. I keep swimsuits, a travel pillow, hair appliances with foreign plugs, rehearsal skirts and dance shoes in my suitcase for quick packing.

I still have my drawings from when I planned my part of the closet. It's a little rough but maybe easier to understand with a visual :)

ETA: Specific answers to your questions:

• Belts are best stored on hooks, IMHO. My closet system came with some cross pieces that have hooks, but any hook will do. My husband and I share this space and use four hooks between the two of us. I use any leftover space for crossbody handbags.
  
  
• For shoes, it helps massively to have a few layers of shelves at the bottom of the closet. Mine are part of that same closet system - I just set it up so the lowest shelf of the system is off the ground, so there's space under for more shoes. Out of season shoes get rotated to the back of the shelves twice a year.
  
  
• Everyday bras are in a shoe-box sized photo storage box. I only have a couple, so I just store them with the cups nested. I fold my bralettes up and stuff them behind the underwire bras - not a beautiful system, but it works and keeps things from getting crushed.
  
  
• Underwear is folded this way in one of those boxes. There is no other way to fit it all into the box, and I have a rule that the box isn't allowed to overflow. If I buy new pairs, the oldest pairs get thrown away.
  
  
• We live in a very moderate climate so we don't have much true winter stuff. For now, we keep anything truly off-season (our down jackets, winter boots and his ski stuff) in a broken suitcase on the highest shelf in the closet - we also have some knee braces, an old set of crutches and some sentimental items up there, I think. (We only use the suitcase when moving, as it's still sturdier than cardboard boxes.) We do use vacuum-sealed bags for the spare duvet, blankets and other bulky things - it's a cheap solution that makes a big difference.
  
  Also, before you spend lots of money on a custom closet system, consider these. They are easy to assemble and customise, and the quality is incredible.

Another good alternative is to hang dry them. I used to just put the hangers on the frame of the door, but then my grandma bought me a couple of these and I love them.

I'm not sure where she got them, but they look exactly like the ones sold on Amazon. I also found this rack and it looks great as well.

At my mother's house, she hangs them on a rack but she has more space than I do.

I find that there isn't much difference to hanging them this way for blouses and pants. I only lay my sweaters to dry.

My family has been drying our clothes this way for about 10 years and there is a HUGE difference in how long our clothes last.

First of all, declutter and take care of the mess.

It's time to pick your clothes up off the radiator and the floor, and put them in the laundry hamper if they're dirty or hang them/put away if they're clean.

Clear all of the clutter off of your desk, organize. This will help improve not only the aesthetic but your mental wellbeing as well especially while in school. "A cluttered workspace is a cluttered mind."

It looks like you've got coats thrown on your futon. Is that due to lack of storage space? If so, I would highly recommend one of these or something similar.

Speaking of the futon/couch, how often do you actually use it, or realistically see yourself using it? If theres no need of it, I'd suggest getting rid of it. You could put a beautiful standing shelf there and decorate it. Assuming its dreary and gray like most of the UK, a few plants on that shelf or around your room might make things a little nicer as well rather than monotone whites.

The two main problems with small rooms are resonances and parallel surfaces. How you deal with those things depends a lot of what you're trying to record, how much you are trying to record at the same time, and if you are also trying to create a good monitoring environment as well as a recording space.

The smaller the room the more absorption you are likely to need. In a room this size, carpet or rugs on the floor are a almost a necessity. Good broadband absorption requires much more than just acoustic foam, which can often make a room sound very dull and boomy. Use at least 2-inch thick absorbers made of Owens Corning 703 or something similar. It can be fabric covered pretty easily, and inexpensive burlap can make it look attractive. (I suggest acoustimac.com as a reliable source. Their Room Calculator is very helpful.) You can also use felt moving blankets folded over to be a couple inches thick and they are very cheap. You can cover these with burlap curtains.

Start with 2' by 4' panels mounted about 30" off the floor and covering maybe 20% the total wall space in the room. Add ceiling panels if the room's character is still to obvious in your recordings. You may want to add thicker panels (4-inch) as bass traps in the corner. For acoustic and classical music (guitars, violins, reeds, etc.) you will want less treatment than for rock or pop music. If you're using the room for mixing, too, then go a with more absorption also.

The more furniture, cushions, books, or almost any "stuff" you have in the room, the better. It breaks up the parallel walls and reduces reflections and resonances. I have known people to buy inexpensive clothes racks like this. I have known people to move their clothes from their close to the studio for some critical recording sessions.

This one is like mine, only difference is mines height adjustable to right around 3 feet and cost me SIGNIFICANTLY less at $15.

But if storage isn't an issue for you like it is me (my craft space is like a large closet) you don't need one that folds like I do.

When looking for one just pay attention to the reviews as well as the width of the base. The wider the base the more stable it will be.

Target, WalMart, IKEA, and Amazon sell clothes racks. I lived in a room without a closet for a year and this is what I used. It's easy to hide behind a screen, and it worked perfectly. And most importantly, it's way cheaper than buying a huge piece of furniture.

I wish I could store all of my clothes out of sight. But I prefer hangers to drawers. I have a lot of hard-to-fold clothes which would be unwearably wrinkled. I don't have a lot of closet space, so I have a stainless steel garment rack like this:

Sure, here is my whole setup for my apartment:
Washing Machine
Pants drying stand
Everything else drying stand
Sock hanger
drip dry hangers
Pants hangers - although I got my hangers at WalMart and they have rubber on the clips

In retrospect I would actualy recommend getting this or the tri-arm rack and this as the big drying rack thing is a bit overkill when you have the sock hanger. You could get two sock hangers and hang them on the side of the shirt rack and dry everything you need in less space without having to fold anything over a bar, causing it to dry slower.

Also in the other thread it was recommended that I use all natural soaps instead of the generic detergent. I think thats it.

I like the washer, overall, it does its cycles so fast that I don't really have time to play games or something requiring concentration. I have been wearing the clothes washed in it for the past week and after the initial stiffness wears off they don't seem any different from a regular wash.

My one complaint is that the hoses are cheap, so I might figure out a replacement for those sometime next month. Also, I had to go to youtube to figure out how to use it properly

For a small space, you could use this garment rack with a tapestry or other oriental fabric or paper, maybe something like this hung on the top rod, and the space underneath can be used for storage.

I bought a metal industrial style rolling rack off Amazon and put it in a corner of my bedroom. The ends extend but the size is enough for everything that hangs. I have an Ikea dresser for things that fold.

This is the one I bought in 2012

I keep 3 baskets on the bottom. 1 for shoes, 2 for laundry. I can also keep sneakers under it.

I’m planning to get this wardrobe and maybe this one from Amazon to cluster my plants in front of my only window when I bring them in for fall/winter soon. I’m not sure how it’ll work out yet though.
