Wow, that's really cool. I only came across his wiki as a Green Beret Foundation page on Facebook featured him. I haven't read his book, but I plan to now.

It must fill you with pride, on the one hand some dickbag Nazis tried to wipe out your family line for being "lesser human beings" and then your granddad turns around in the face of that and becomes one of the biggest badasses around. A very cool man.

You could actually spend about 10 minutes reading about the early history of the Nazi Party and it's rise to power.

Specifically the bits where Hitler explains to President Hindenburg that Rohm's private army of socialists (the SA) were just a tool that he was using to get the chancellorship. The night of the long knives being the moment that the Nazi party shook off any pretence of being socialist.

It's been well documented since the end of WWII.

That's the one I would recommend if you want a really in depth read. The guy who wrote that was a US journalist in Germany before the Nazis rose to power and afterwards as well. It is very good.

Rise and Fall of The Third Reich is a really great book. The narrator is brilliant, I'm listening to it on Audible. He also narrated King's The Stand.

Ideology is not identity, there is as much difference between Putin and Britain First as the difference between the Conservatives and Labour. If you can't see the red herring for what it is, you're already being reeled in, nevermind hook line and sinker.

This led to one of the more interesting biographies about Hitler The Hidden Hitler . It theorizes that our friend was sassy himself. (Good biography but definitely tries to mold facts and is full of conjecture)

I'm not really sure how to describe it. It's written by a German aristocrat as Hitler comes to power, and it reads like Private Eye magazine, but about Nazi Germany. It's awesome.

Shirer was an American journalist based in Germany during the last years of the Weimar Republic and the first 8 years of the Nazi Government. I read it 30 years ago and have read a load of others since, but it's a good starting point.

Actually not true. He did smoke, He did enjoy an occasional beer, and he ate sausages almost exclusively.

Actually a pretty interesting read

There are many such books written for the Jewish community recounting first-hand experiences. I grew up in the Orthodox community so was always given these to read. One such title I'd recommend is "Go, My Son" by Chaim Shapiro.

Another such title is The Youngest Partisan.

Perhaps Child of the Holocaust by Jack Kuper?

I found one listing with the DIARY OF ANNE FRANK title on amazon, but this is the only one I've been able to find. You should order it and when it arrives see if it has the same title or if it altered by the time you receive it.

Schindler is very whitewashed in the movie. Even the list isnt his.

Nope. Atheist here. And I just provided you with a 1168 page acclaimed biography from an acclaimed historian of Hitler's life and the Third Reich which goes extremely into depth on his suicide and the circumstances surrounding it. I'm not triggered by this. I just realize that I won't make any progress here because I'm dealing with a simpleton.

But I'm sure if I were Jewish, you'd call me a kike and say you want to gas me or something. I dunno. You're probably like the neo-Nazi other neo-Nazis look down on because at least they're not basement-dwelling losers. They're just regular losers.

This is the narrative of many holocaust deniers and has been since the diary was published. It has been proven to be authentic in every conceivable level. Otto Frank won every lawsuit to do with the authenticity of the book. So far as I understand the book was never examined in any of these lawsuits by a third party, so there was at least some ever-so-slight valid level of suspicion.

When he died the book was willed to the Dutch government, they examined it, deemed it authentic, and then published the data that proved it's authenticity. Despite this fact, the deniers still use the same claim. Now they just state the opposite of what actually happened and hope no one looks it up.

These were run by the same people as pre-Nazi times. They were close to the Nazis due to cooperation not coercion. Even Peugeot was allowed to keep his factories after the invasion of France. This is very unlike the USSR and any socialist principles whatsoever.

You seem to be basing your argument off of the USSR a lot despite huge differences (Central planning, the system of politics, etc all very different) and the fact that they had to invent the term “Marxist-Leninism” to describe the USSR’s system.

I love the part where the Reich was so socialist it invaded the USSR and killed millions of Slavs.

The 3 you list about the economy are wrong. They didn’t have control they had cooperation. Businessmen kept their companies and in return for making tanks and planes - WHICH THE NAZI GOVERNMENT PAID FOR - they were allowed to deny workers rights.

If you want to at all educate yourself I recommend this. Hitler had absolutely no interest in economics whatsoever and totally misdefined socialism. What Hitler implemented was not socialist in the slightest and not only because big businesses were still run privately
