🎓 Reddit experts on household rough plumbing valves
The comments and opinions expressed on this page are written exclusively by redditors. To provide you with the most relevant data, we sourced opinions from the most knowledgeable Reddit users based the total number of upvotes and downvotes received across comments on subreddits where household rough plumbing valves are discussed. For your reference and for the sake of transparency, here are the specialists whose opinions mattered the most in our ranking.
Skip the dryer sheets- or at least get the UNSCENTED ones.
Women can smell "dryer sheets = Single Guy who does his own laundry- and badly" a mile away.
BUY EXPENSIVE COLOGNES. The cheap shit smells like cheap shit- (Brut, aka "splash-on-shower" anyone?). The 'Good Stuff' costs more for a reason- to keep the riff-raff out!
Wear clothes that fit- read the hilarious! Clinton Kelly's "Freakin' Fabulous: How to Dress, Speak, Behave, Eat, Drink, Entertain, Decorate, and Generally Be Better than Everyone Else."
"What you wear tells the world how you expect to be treated." ~Clinton Kelley
Find a good barber and keep your hair cut and styled.
If you wear glasses- shop around- for the best current style that fits YOUR Facial Style, not what you think looks good on some one else. Like the cologne, be prepared to PAY MORE. Cheap glasses will not only look cheap- they won't hold up well.
By the way- regarding haircuts/facial hair and spectacles- you MUST change with the times.
And keep your glasses spotless. Girls will definitely see crud build-up on your specs.
If you have to choose between flossing and brushing- CHOOSE THE FLOSS! The easiest way to add flossing BEFORE brushing your teeth is to take your morning toiletries INTO the shower with you!
Right after you get a shower head cut-off valve Get a good shower caddy that also holds your shaving mirror, take care of ALL your morning toiletries (except the cologne, 'natch!) and take care of ALL your business while in the shower- who doesn't like a couple extra minutes dancing in the drops?
SHOES MATTER Avoid the look of "athletic shoes" as much as possible. Time to dress like an adult- and smart girls are ABSOLUTELY checking out your shoes. Trust me on this one!
And imprinted tee-shirts or other 'branded' sportswear? These are generally 'rags.' STOP WEARING THEM. The logo people are NOT paying you for advertising space on YOUR BODY. So stop it NOOW.
Unless it's really hot weather or you're exercising/at the beach, wear shirts with collars- tee-shirts pretty much look like underwear.
"Fashion" is doing the same shit everyone else is doing. "Style" is crafting a look that YOU OWN.
Fashionable? Great if you want to comfortably camouflage yourself and blend in. Real style (or at least dressing just a little better than your peers) shows real self-confidence and THAT SIR, is what women (and the guys you need to one-up) really respond to.
Congratulations on your 'Awakening' and Good Luck!
If you're gonna enjoy shower enemas, get yourself one of These and a Flow Regulator.
They're easy to screw on/off the shower hose, and will give you a LOT more control over the volume of water, which is super important so you don't hurt yourself!
The trick is to take it easy. Your colon is designed to contract and relax rhythmically, and it will do so no matter how much water you're pumping in there. If you're pushing a lot of water at the wrong time, you could easily burst through the wall of your colon and end up with an abdominal cavity full of bacteria-filled water - NOT A GOOD SITUATION!
Also, a little bit of vaseline on your poophole before insertion (and reapplied when it is washed off) will do wonders for preventing soreness and making things slide in easier. But don't use vaseline for other toys (or ESPECIALLY condoms) as it breaks down most rubber/silicone materials.
EDIT: I AM NOT A DOCTOR. And this is not medical advice. It's also not likely medically recommended in any way, shape or form.
You could ask your plumber to install this valve in your shower:
https://www.amazon.com/Speakman-CPV-5000-Thermostatic-Pressure-Balance/dp/B00FC1Y86O
There will be more parts, but that would be the heart of your new system. It helps prevent temperature fluctuations, and (within reason) regulates flow, as well.
Yes indeed. I got the 'escutcheon' off. It took some thinking because there was this silicone putty stuff that was caked on holding it in the wall.
This is where I'm at now. I think I found the piece on Amazon https://www.amazon.com/DIVERTER-3HNDL-OAKBROOK-MfrPartNo-A501016-ACF1/dp/B0044FPM1O
But I'm not sure if the 'cartridge is all I need. I'm also not sure how to get it apart. Been looking at videos all afternoon but non are quite like this. I'll update my original post with my progress so far. The images below may not load

>I don’t know about you, but showering generally takes a good chunk out of my morning.
If it's taking a good chunk out of someone's morning then they're being slow as hell. A Navy shower takes less than 2 minutes and uses very little water. It's even easier when you have an on/off valve so you don't have to readjust the temp two different times. This one's only $10, plus another $4 or so for some teflon tape.

These valves can save a lot of water without needing to go dirty.
>Here’s one you may not have heard of: according to Modern Alternative Mama, showering too often can prevent your body from synthesizing the vitamin D you get from the sun.
and
>Vitamin D, as a fat-soluble vitamin, is made in the oily layer of your skin. It is then slowly absorbed over 2 – 3 days. If you shower everyday and use soap, you will wash this oily layer off your skin and will not absorb the vitamin D you just made!
Vitamin D is made when sunlight hits 7-dehydrocholesterol (7-DHC) which is made in the wall of the intestines and then is transported to the skin. (https://www.jidonline.org/article/S0022-202X(15)34937-X/fulltext)
It's found mostly in the 2 inner-most layers of epidermis. Melanin can prevent sunlight from getting to 7-DHC, and since you can't wash off melanin it should be obvious that you also can't wash off 7-DHC. The only way showering can affect the production of Vitamin D is if you don't take them often enough and have enough dirt on you to block sunlight.
That being said, showering is something that different people have to do at different frequencies. Someone who works manual labor will need to shower more often than someone with a desk job and a car with working A/C. While it is a good thing to not waste resources, this article is full of ridiculousness.
And install a valve so you can control the flow rate super easy at the shower head. I have this one and it is amazing. shut off valve
Go buy a bidet. Seriously one of the best $35-$50 you can spend. After a month, I ended up buying one for each bathroom, my parent's house, and even a couple of friends.
Buy this valve too, it helps with the install.
Looks like one of these. If I had to guess, the inside of the union looks exactly like that one. Rubber o-ring and all. Best of luck though if I'm wrong.
1-1/2-Inch PVC Check Valve with Unions (White, socket) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01GKE1OKE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_qdrbzbE4ZPXVJ
Something like this would probably be a big improvement, because you can more easily push the handle around with your palm without needing to grip anything. There should be some other options similar to that style.
First off, under the bottom of the camp shower, opposite where the vertical pipe goes up to the shower head, threaded? I.e. is that a plug threaded into the fitting under there?
A solution (temporary or otherwise) would simply be to add a diverter valve between the shower head and the camp shower (so install up where the shower head goes).
Like This
Then put the shower head on one output, and install a hand shower hose to the other output on the valve. The opposite end of the hose would just hang down into the tub.
If you want to fill the tub, you simply turn the diverter valve to the hose output. Want a shower? Turn the diverter valve to the shower head.
So those would be shower mixing valves. Depends on what type you want and what trim kit you want for it.
Here is a delta mixing valve, Hot water is routed to one side cold to the other.
https://www.amazon.com/Delta-R10000-UNBXHF-Multichoice-Universal-Shower/dp/B0040YQ218/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=shower+mixing+valve&qid=1562626375&s=gateway&sr=8-3

Here is a trim kit that would go over that valve.
https://www.amazon.com/Delta-T13020-SS-Monitor-Valve-Stainless/dp/B0040YT8XW/ref=sr_1_4?keywords=delta+trim+kit+for+shower&qid=1562626420&s=gateway&sr=8-4

You can also shop for diverters.
They would come after the mixing valve and can be used to change the direction of water flow to different shower heads and body sprays.

I like that picture. it Looks like they are controlling the shower heads away from the shower so you can turn it on with out getting sprayed with cold water.

I am currently building a upstairs shower and I think I will incorporate it in my design.
you could easily put a valve in the line in between the showerhead spigot and the faucet.
Something like this
https://www.amazon.com/K1140B-Shower-Shut-Off-Valve-Chrome/dp/B00HSWPYIG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1468699376&sr=8-1&keywords=showerhead+valve
I was thinking something more like this, although the compression A/S would work as well.
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00GDB27VA/ref=asc_df_B00GDB27VA3175800?smid=A1ZD2RKGRSC4S0&tag=pgmp-845-97-20&linkCode=df0&creative=395109&creativeASIN=B00GDB27VA
Yup SumnaconTM G1/2" Full Brass Shower Head Flow Control and Shut OFF Valve for Shower Head, Hand Shower, or Bidet Sprayer etc https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00XMBD57O/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_aOlnDb0VV8AZE
Would something like thiswork?
this would probably be the easiest.
> Would a shower head with a "pause" setting work?
Yes.
Or put one these between the shower head and the wall: https://www.amazon.com/K1140B-Shower-Shut-Off-Polished-Chrome/dp/B00HSWPYIG
Orrr, you could easily install one of these to easily stop the flow of water while you soap up so you don’t have to try to deal with an app in the shower.
Like this? The escutcheon plate is separate.
Found it, something like this would do the trick:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008B8OG44/ref=ox_sc_act_title_3?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER
In case anyone is wondering...
You're on the right track but just fyi should you need it, you can install one of these between the shower head and neck:
https://www.amazon.com/Huntington-16-700cp-Showerhead-Control-Valve/dp/B0025VWDGQ
Only get ceramic disk thermostatic mixing valves; like this one. Also use pex & 3/4"; but that's my opinion.
You didn't name your source, and generally simply googling things doesn't always give you an authoritative answer. Whereas talking directly with an authority who can give an authoritative answer is generally better, especially when it involves very large financial transactions.
So if you actually are responsible for the sewer past your property line, I wouldn't buy that house. The line has a 7+ foot dip in the line. Anything getting put down the sewer besides shit and toilet paper is going to eventually clog up that line. Even using the garbage disposal could be a bad idea, depending what is going down, could contribute. Like rice tends to get really gummy after going through disposals. Or even if you have a kid, who might flush a toy down the toilet. Not something you want sitting at the bottom of a dip in a sewer line. But it does have that cleanout 60' out. You could put a sewer relief at the 60' cleanout, so when the sewer does backup, it'll just come out of that cleanout instead of making its way back to the house.
The roots aren't that bad and can be controlled without the use of a sewer machine.
The dip in the line is the most concerning just because of how long it is.
I did this on my Speakman and the pressure is amazing.
To prevent my 40 gallon tank from draining in a few minutes, I got one of these. I use full pressure to wet and rinse, and then turn it down to a sprinkle while I lather my hair and body. Not only will this save hot water, you actually get a much sudsier experience. I think it's called a sailors shower
I'd skip the guesswork on the showerhead and just get what you want. Install this before the showerhead. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00HSWPYIG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_K5ioDb57GPQP4
Edit: Take the plastic restrictor out of the showerhead if you end up getting the adjustable valve.
http://smile.amazon.com/Diverter-Shower-System-Replacement-Polished/dp/B00ST78ON6/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8 Would be the right diverter to properly achieve a three head shower?
Adapter fitting
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00JQVRXXG
Get a flow control valve to go with it or you'll be sorry(thousands of pin pricks) . http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00XMBD57O
Try this one for size.
Get a shower head with flow adjustment or put one of these before the shower head:https://www.amazon.com/K1140B-Shower-Shut-Off-Valve-Chrome/dp/B00HSWPYIG
If it’s two functions this
https://www.amazon.com/Hansgrohe-4447000-Pressure-Balance-Diverter/dp/B008B8OG44/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=Hansgrohe+shower+trim&qid=1570371109&sr=8-1
Single function is this
https://www.amazon.com/Hansgrohe-04230000-Thermostatic-Trim-Control/dp/B003K45DNM/ref=sr_1_8?keywords=Hansgrohe+shower+trim&qid=1570371203&sr=8-8
These will both come with new guts. If your running a single function shower head you can put in something cheaper
https://www.amazon.com/Hansgrohe-04233000-Pressure-Balance-Chrome/dp/B003K4B0NY/ref=sr_1_5?keywords=Hansgrohe+shower+trim&qid=1570371281&sr=8-5
Install one of these and teach them about navy showers
Install a low flow shower head.
If you already have one, get a flow control valve.
DANCO Shower Volume Control Shut-Off Valve, Chrome, 1.6 inch, 1-Pack (89171) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000JFNPJE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_6FDyCbZ21BD7G
Deluxe LPT:
No matter which head you decide on, get a shower head valve so you can turn the water off while you soap up.
If you have a tiny hot water heater, a shower head valve and a low-flow shower head can let you take long showers again.
