Fear cuts deeper than swords

  1. Something that is grey - Wreck This Journal! A post on /r/travel turned me on to this nifty little book that encourages you to do and look at those things you might not otherwise on your vacations and trips. Main WL
  2. Something reminiscent of Rain Freshwater Pearl Drop Earrings. This one may be a stretch, but as soon as I read the item list I thought of these. I've always liked calling them rain drops instead of tear drops. Main WL

  3. Something food related that is unusual I didn't think the frying pan on my list would really count as "unusual", hope this counts as "food related." These are a set of vitamins that I saved for my fiance; he loves his drink, and I love him to be healthy. Main WL
  4. Something on your list for someone else This pinstripe fedora is for my fiance. He's had an identical fedora since we began dating several years ago and he's incredibly sentimental about it. The poor thing is worn out though, and I'm not sure if it can be restored. If it can't, I'm hoping he'll be able to learn to love a new one so that we can retire the original respectfully. Main WL
  5. Something related to cats I hope that this counts even though I just noticed it's become unavailable! This reminds me of the book Catzilla that was read to me in elementary school and seems perfect for my own vicious kitties. Main WL
  6. A book you should read I will shamelessly endorse Karen Miller's writing everywhere I go and to everyone I meet. Seriously. She's fantastic. Poor reviews on Amazon, but I chock that up to people not understanding proper plot development. You can trust me on that, I almost have a degree. Books WL
  7. Something for less than $1.00 This was not on my list previously, but it makes me feel sympathy towards home-school moms to need such a tranquil book cover.
  8. Something that is not useful Being able to do calligraphy isn't really a useful art these days, but whenever I see those strokes on /r/penmanshipporn I feel I simply must learn how to do it. It's beautiful. And my handwriting is dreadful. Main WL
  9. A movie that everyone should watch My Neighbor Totoro! I actually just watched this myself for the first time last week! It's just one of those movies that makes you happy and leaves you with a smile. We all need those movies for the days that just get to be too much. Main WL
  10. Something useful for when the zombies attack It doubles as a weapon AND a tool. Can't always buy replacements when the undead are running amok! Main WL
  11. Something that would have a profound impact on your life Fitness has become very important to me in the last year or so and I would like very much to one day have a home gym so that I might always keep myself healthy and fit. This particular item would help me tone my stubborn tummy area and is one of my favorite tools at the gym I work out in. Main WL
  12. Add-on item Just my luck, I would discover add-on items the day this contest begins. I did add these before I saw the contest, but last night I began researching hair products and came across John Frieda. Ordered one product already, hoping to try out these others soon! Main WL
  13. The most expensive item on your list Oh boy. I guess my dream item is actually a toothbrush. My fiance has awful brushing habits. His parents just never really made him do it. Since we've gotten together I've kind of taken up a "mom" role in this area and made sure that he cleans his teeth daily, but there's damage to his gums from neglect. I did a lot of research on the products on the market and this seems like the best tool to help him get healthier gums. He's not totally on board with spending so much on a toothbrush, but I want and need him to be healthy in every way. You know? Main WL
  14. Something bigger than a breadbox The rolling massager is your best friend and your worst enemy at the gym. Using this item after your workout helps to minimize your soreness the next day, but I won't lie. It hurts a bit to use. Main WL
  15. Something smaller than a golf ball Who doesn't love jewelry for your ears? Jewelry WL
  16. Something that smells wonderful Eucalyptus oil! Main WL
  17. A SFW toy I saw this on Top Gear UK and I must have it. When asked by a friend why I would ever need such a thing, I promptly responded, “For when I go spelunking.” Toys WL
  18. Something helpful for going back to school As an English major, I have to buy a LOT of books. My poor overburdened bookshelf is in desperate need of relief. If this weren't my last year, I would absolutely have to buy another bookshelf. As it stands, I'll have to buy a new one soon regardless. Avid readers live here. Main WL
  19. Something related to my current obsession I am an unashamed, unapologetic Whovian.
    Main WL
  20. Something awe inspiring - speaking of Whovians Isn't this fantastic? I've always said the best thing after a bath is the snuggle up with the TARDIS. Gifts WL
  21. Made in Oregon - I've been doing this contest since 7 a.m. I could use this right about now

WHEW. That took way longer than I thought it would but I think I found everything but what your name is! Thanks for the contest, I had a blast!

Also a mom! I adore NYDJ jeans. They're mid-waisted and they really hold you in, but they're comfortable and they hold their shape really well -- the knees don't get all loose or anything. On the other end of the spectrum, lately I've been loving No-Nonsense jeggings. They're $15 a pair and they're really comfy and cute.

As far as tops, the nice thing is that right now there are a lot of very forgiving tops for women whose mid-sections aren't runway-perfect. (What the hell did new moms do back when babydoll tees were the thing?) I'll link some examples from Amazon US, and maybe you can find something similar from a Canadian source.

Shirts like:

this Guess boyfriend tee that have detailing around the neck and an interesting cut at the sleeves while having a little drape at the belly

I've had a lot of luck with Lucky Brand tops like this one. They're structural, so you don't feel like a total slob, but the structure is forgiving.

I'm not a huge fan of shark-bite cuts, but the fit of the top of this shirt related to the swinginess of the bottom is very forgiving and flattering.

I also feel like a big part of feeling complete is wearing a little makeup, doing my hair (really simply, but it's neat), and wearing earrings.

u/Jadis4742 · 1 pointr/fringefashion

I do. The drape cardigan was one of the most comfortable, softest things I owned - until i washed it. (Easy cycle, cold water, hang dry.) Now it is just the tiniest bit stiff but I don't think it's anything fabric softener won't fix. It's a nice, heavy jersey. I wore it as a top layer yesterday in 60-degree weather and was very comfortable.

I also own this cowlneck top in light grey - it's a nice, soft, light jersey that washes well. (Cold, easy care, then dry on low/medium.) my only issue is that it doesn't drape quite as well as my other tops, so I have to spend a couple of seconds messing with it to get it to sit right. But the color and sleeve length is great.

The last top I ordered was this one with the strappy sleeves. I thought it would be a fun going out top. But the material was a little stiffer than I liked, and the strap detail on the sleeves both didn't 1) sit on my shoulders or 2) stand up above them. They just kind of flopped around. I went down a size, but they did the same thing. I guess they figure when you need a XL top you're just kind of fat all over. I have the same problem with jeans - when they fit in the hips, they are HUGE in the calf area.

And that's all I've tried so far, hope it helps.

A. I'd be finishing off paying my credit cards, maybe pay off a chunk of school loans, spend $500 on buying some decorations for the house and chuck the rest into savings in the bank.

B. Shelves. I need more space to set things besides the bar top in the kitchen, which I can't do that anymore because my cat is likes to destroy everything she can find lol maybe some faux ivy to hang up around the house as well.

C. I'm not sure whether you wanted exterior fur or interior fur sooo

Exterior

Interior

D. I'd suggest reading Good Omens by Neil Gaiman. It's a little less sci-fi, but still a bit fantasy in that it's an angel and demon trying to stop the apocalypse. Hilarious book and brilliant writing. Gaiman also wrote a graphic novel for Marvel for 1602 that I haven't had the chance to read, but hear it's great. But I'm guessing you probably already know who the author is since one of his books are already on your list. I'd also suggest Prey by Michael Crichton. It's about a loose swarm of nanobots escaped from a laboratory.

E. This floral shirt is really cute!

F.  Maybe given your interest in animals and Norse mythology, you might like this?

G. I'd pick u/SpecialJNess because she's new here, but she's quickly become an active part of the community, goes out of her way to make people feel welcome and has an absolutely radiant positive attitude.

Sorry to hear about your fibromyalgia, I have a family member with it and it sounds no fun.

Unfortunately what I'm about to list includes mostly discontinued basics, but hopefully it gives you some ideas.

While I'm not in chronic pain on the level you have been, I have been dealing with some things off and on the last few years which led me towards living in comfy clothes. So as not to perpetually look like I'm just on my way to/from yoga class, I try to dress in layers of nicely-textured fabrics along with my nice-looking yoga pants from Eddie Bauer (now discontinued.)

For example, I will layer a sateen tank (Macy's Charter Club, discontinued) under a light wrap in the summer or nice cardigan in winter. I got the tanks in store from Macy's, and the sweaters from TJ Maxx, Macy's, or Amazon, but here's an example of the wrap from Amazon: [light wrap] (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00GJ2NVOK/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=1PYOTTYDQQ43P&coliid=IRL3B97V59UYR&psc=1) and this is similar to the sweaters: [sweater] (https://www.amazon.com/Womens-Front-Draped-Shawl-Cardigan/dp/B014LTL5UY/ref=pd_sim_193_28?_encoding=UTF8&refRID=66YX7SM8V3VS14W94G5K )

The other thing I love to do is layer a criss-cross cardigan like [this] (https://www.amazon.com/Popana-Criss-Cross-Cardigan-Medium/dp/B00PKV5MEI/ref=sr_1_4?s=apparel&ie=UTF8&qid=1478560877&sr=1-4&nodeID=7141123011&keywords=criss%2Bcross%2Bcardigan&th=1)
over a [tank top] (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006Z8HJ82/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) or [long-sleeved shirt] (https://www.amazon.com/LEVEL-6731-Tri-Blend-Long-Sleeve-Scoop/dp/B007S0YY0W/ref=pd_sim_193_38?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=88Q2GRKDBDHQ016JKA3T) depending on the weather.

And of course, there is always the option for cute scarves over comfortable shirts. None of what I wear is high fashion or top-of-the-line stylish, but it is all cute, comfortable, and I always feel like I look good which is really the main point for me.

crossing my fingers the links work

This boot isn't on amazon and it's a little pricey but I thought it was adorable! Roxy has some other nice boots on amazon too and they seem to hold up to wear pretty well :)

Anyways, hope you find some cute stuff! I love shopping!

Honestly, you could and probably should find the shirt and ribbon in person to make sure the red matches, but to be safe I linked them.

Looks like a fun outfit and I hope you found this helpful!

If I may add, I think going with a shoulder free top would look great as well!

This sounds absolutely ridiculous, but I have these and they are AMAZING. I mean, I love amazon for everything else, so I shouldn’t be surprised 🤷🏻‍♀️😂 and also I love Jcrew and Jcrew factory.

Hello!

I recently purchased a bunch of these [pants] (https://www.amazon.com/LEE-Womens-Petite-Eased-Tailored/dp/B074Y1SK4G/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8&th=1&psc=1) in multiple colors (navy, black, grey, khaki, olive, and light blue). They're very comfortable and as a short woman who lifts weights, I struggle to find pants that fit me well. I also got a bunch of these simple [short sleeve tops] (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B071ZX3JWB/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s05?ie=UTF8&psc=1) (olive, dark grey, light grey, and black).

I'd love some input about how I should wear these. Did I do a good job? I'm a bit of a tomboy, so I'd love some advice! https://imgur.com/a/BTIFtx5

I work in science, so the dress code is super casual. I'm 5'4" and pretty hourglass shaped.

Thanks :)

u/Sieberella · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

I would love this or anything from my clothes list really. I'm trying to get more into dresses and skirts, ya know cause they'll still pretty much fit if you gain weight lol. Elephant Barber and hello I'm Sierra! How are you enjoying it around RaoA so far? I'm a mod over at Plug.dj so if you ever feel like chatting and listening to some tunes feel free to pop in!

HANDMADE ROCKS. I love skulls. I love the skully one that you linked on your IMGUR. I just LOVE everything skull. Did I mention I love skulls?

I also suffer from migraines and love these. I haven't had one in a while. I used to make them as well, with rice or lentils and herbs. :)

u/justgoodenough · 6 pointsr/femalefashionadvice

Yeah, it definitely looks like a going out dress. I think if you want it to look 1) more casual, and 2) appropriate for settings other than bars and clubs, the answer is to make it slightly more conservative.

One thing to consider is layering a sheer turtleneck and sheer black tights under it. The shirt under a tank dresses is sort of a thing now (some of those looks are better than others). If you also wore flat ankle boots with it, that should help make it look a little more conservative. I mean, it will still be kind of a night time thing because of the black lace details and layering the shirt is maybe more trendy than a majority of people are ready to embrace.

If that is not your style, you could try one of those ballet wrap cardigans. Again, pairing it with tights should help.

If that is still not your style, you could try a chunky long cardigan. Though, this might make the dress look more lingerie like because the cardigan might end up looking like a bathrobe? I dunno. But it's a direction you could go in.

Being the Basilisk-Female and Male Variations

Female Shirt

Female Pants

Female Shoes

Male Shirt

Male Pants

Male Shoes

Necklace

Fangs

Yellow Contact Lenses (Optional)

Channel your inner Basilisk with my male and female variation designs. Both the male and female versions have skin scale shirts and pants to help you appear as scaly as Salazar's serpent. The shoes for both variations are snake scaled as well, but are comfortable enough so that you can walk around in your costume. The necklace was chosen as it has a snake and the green of Salazar himself. Additionally, the fangs were chosen to represent the sharp fangs of the Basilisk and they are easy to wear. If you really want to channel the spirit of the Basilisk, opt for wearing yellow contact lenses so your eyes match the monster itself.

I also recommend wearing your hair in an S-Shaped braid like this to really hit the "S" in serpent. You may want to add a little green makeup on your face to really sell the look as well if you so desire.

u/xtinamariet · 11 pointsr/femalefashionadvice

I buy a lot of clothes from Amazon. My rule of thumb is to try to stick with prime stuff or good return policies, and only get things with a lot of reviews (if I don't recognize the brand.)

Some of my favorite things:
Next Level Tees I have like 5 of them.

This scarf Perfect. Not like I need more scarves.

These Leggings This brand of leggings is SO soft and comfortable. I have 4 pairs

This dress love it in the summer

ETA: I don't just count reviews, I read them scrupulously. That helps, esp if I'm nervous about sizing.

u/CelticMara · 3 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

You're freaking adorable!

Okay, so here we go.

For retro, try Sidecca. Cute, huh?

For just plain pretty/sexy, slide on over to eVogues.

eShakti has a wide range of styles and sizes, not just width, but height as well. I can't tell your height from your pictures, but for most non-average women, having something made for the proper height is almost a luxury. They have retro to several decades as well as fresh, new stuff.

Fun tee

Do you like portals?

I'm not hipster-y, but here's some band tee-shirts. I've probably heard of them.

Nerd shirt, in a variety of pretty colors.
