So essentially this for a quick mono recording setup for my phone?

I use this little dongle if I want to record to my phone. Seems like it works out good.

> I've tried just having a 3.5mm output from mixer to PS4 Controller but it wont accept it and reads it as a headset output.

The PS4 controller (as well as any other device that handles headset audio, like XB1, phones, etc) uses a 4-pole connector for its interface. You need an adapter to get the mic line to be picked up -- something like this.

Your other option is to use a usb audio dongle so you're not having to plug into your controller at all. Just plug into its mic port, set the chat audio options on the ps4 to use the device for the mic, and you'll be set... although most likely you would also need a ground loop isolator in-line with it to eliminate buzz/hum.

This doesn't address the main problem though -- how to get the mic by itself without all other sounds.

My recommendation is to use your FX-send output to connect to your line-in on your PC. You'll use this to feed just your mic over the line (turn up the red knob on the mic, leave all other red knobs full counter-clockwise), and you can use this for discord chat.

From here, you can also then connect a stereo line from your speaker out port on your pc (green plug) to your PS4 controller adapter (the 4-pole adapter I referred to earlier), or to the usb audio solution I mentioned. Then in windows, go to the line-in device properties, and check "Listen to this device" and select the speaker out (green plug) that you plugged the cable into. Make sure you turn this volume down to something like 15-20%, otherwise it will be way too hot for the PS4 to use.

This is the method I use for my bedroom setup (different mixer, but same principle with repeating the audio from PC to PS4). It's a bit complicated to set up, but requires no fiddling with afterward.

Nice! If they do update it then a cheap upgrade (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0788M8W77/) gives you a potential line in option!

Dual TRS to TRRS adapter.

Cheaper options are available, but this one is well reviewed and won't break 2 days outside the return window.

As mentioned, the drivers on those headphones are most likely too much for the controller to power. If you really want to keep those headphones, you could invest in a 3.5mm audio splitter (similar to this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0788M8W77/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_yToYAb9V9QCMZ) along with a cheap amp and amplify the non-microphone line to your headset.
