I use a Steelie Car Mount to mount my Galaxy S7 on my 2012 Forester. Had the same gear for my last car and phone and it's not failed me yet. When it comes time to move the mount somewhere, just find a spare plastic membership/rewards card laying around and use it to wedge between the console and the mount. The VHB tape is tough but it'll come off with patience. Also, best to buy a roll of VHB tape from Amazon (the exact roll I bought 2 years ago this Friday and still use) if you expect to move the mount more than once. It's far cheaper than buying the tape kit from Steelie, and you can use it for anything else you need to stick on something.

cut to form and make sure to clean surfaces with alcohol before applying. Strong hold but can also be easily removed without residue by pulling like those 3m hook strips.
