FYI, there is a newer version for 3 dollars more that is slightly lighter and has an improved LED gauge for showing how much battery is left.

In the festival: Gold Bond powder for chafing/sunburns/itchiness, hi-fidelity earplugs (I use DownBeats bcecause they're more compact than others), Anker 10000mAh battery pack and a multi-USB charger cable so all your friends can get their charge on w/o having to stop at a charging station

Camping: Mio water enhancer for electrolytes + flavor, Anker 20,100 mAh battery pack

I'm glad you asked, I'm still trying to figure out my battery pack and wall charger for the AZT/PCT this year so I'll be watching for responses. Right now I'm leaning toward the Anker Powerport Speed II and Anker Powercore II 10K If anyone is aware of a 10k battery pack with power delivery let me know! So far the only PD packs I've found are massive 20k+

u/HikeItUp8 · 5 pointsr/CampingGear

I know you said solar but I can't help myself. The Anker PowerCore 10000 (195g and small) is ROCK solid and reliable. I'm sure some have had success with solar but I haven't. My friends who had panels switched to battery packs too.

Amazon UK is having a crazy sale on it right now. 68% off. £25.99. If I lived there I wouldn't hesitate.

Pretty much what /u/r_syzygy said. I'll add that I have both the Garmin 64st and Gaia on my Android. Garmin stays home for the most part. If it is going to be raining I might take the Garmin. The interface on Gaia is better in every way. The desktop end of it is better as well.

For battery, put in airplane mode and carry a battery pack

You also get a million maps and overlays with Gaia. With the Garmin they are generally $100 a pop with DRM that requires you to plug your Garmin in to your computer to view (there are ways around this).

I'd recommend the premium version of Gaia so you get NatGeo maps, but standard will at least net you offline maps.

Last year I bought an Anker 10,000mAh battery bank worked for about 3 charges on my S7 with ageing battery, today I get maybe 2 charges on a Note9. I was able to get a good 10+ days total usage out of my phone with recharges as needed. Make sure to turn on airplane mode and battery saver mode, turn off bluetooth, wifi, NFC, unused applications, etc , and keep the phone switched off at night. I was using my phone frequently to take pictures, or check GPS but not much else. Obviously YMMV

Also bought these adaptors last month to charge my new USB-C phone

u/King_Jeebus · 3 pointsr/PacificCrestTrail

I used my phone for Guthook/camera (and podcasts) so it was pretty much a necessity to be charged before I could leave town... so I made sure my wall-charger, powerbank, and phone were all quick-charge and it made a massive difference for me: I would hit town and put phone/powerbank on charge first thing, do my re-ration etc, then be able to hit the trail again within a few hours with full charge ... whereas I knew other folk who had to stay overnight when they didn't want to.

I got:

  • AUKEY USB Wall Charger with Quick Charge 3.0 & Dual Ports (surprisingly large, but worked great.)
  • Anker PowerCore II 10000 (great, quick charge both in and out. Only 1 port, but I 95% of the time just charged the phone.)
  • Nitecore NU25 (awesome torch. not quickcharge, but never really needed it)
  • 2 USB cables (came with the above stuff, I switched one out for a shorter one eventually)
  • Motorola G4+ (good for Guthook, meh camera but did the job well enough and it was kinda disposable as it only cost $100 unlocked)
  • iPod nano (I just like music so much while I walk I wanted a backup in case phone started getting low, and this thing is tiny. I actually used it a ton!)

I think 2 ports is enough really, I would just charge the headtorch/ipod when I got the chance or a longer town stay. Ontrail I would kinda start running low if I used the phone a lot for 4 days, and have to be a bit conservy... there's likely better stuff now, but just fyi!

Can someone tell me the difference between these 3 10,000mAh Anker external batteries? One
Two
Three

I don't know the difference between Quick Charge 3.0;PowerIQ, PowerIQ, and PowerIQ II.

This is the wall charger I have. Which one of those external batteries will work best with my wall charger??

u/IronHeart_777 · 3 pointsr/Surface

If you're concerned with battery life, check and see what the flight regulations are on a power bank similar to This one

u/huh009 · 2 pointsr/Vive

Update 2! This one (the one without the QC3.0 marking) works too!

I like this one the best. It fits snug and seems to be compatible with QC3.0 in and out!

Also, if buying a power bank, keep it under 26,800 mah, that's the maximum size you can bring onto an airplane without "prior approval". Technically you can bring a larger one, but you need to get permission from an airline which is a hassle.

With a 10,000 mah power bank you can charge an iPhone or Galaxy smartphone about 3 or 4 times, a Nintendo switch about 2 times, so it's plenty of juice for a day or two. The larger 26,800 mah power banks are good if you plan on travelling extended periods without power, charging a tablet, or even a laptop. If charging a laptop, then in that case you'll need a $100+ USB-C PD Power Bank.

The Anker PowerCore II is very good - while it only has 1 output, it has the latest generation of charging chip so it can quickly charge a lot of devices. Build quality is fantastic. The RavPower USB-C Power Bank is also good, works well with a Nintendo Switch, and is about $10 cheaper, build quality is very good but not as slick as the Anker unit. Size wise, the Anker is chunkier but more compact, meanwhile the RavPower is thinner but longer/wider. Total mass of both units is ultimately the same, it really depends on how you like the shape of your battery :) Both are reputable brands, especially Anker, so they won't fry your phone or blow up in your hand.

I hope this helps!

Get an external battery pack. I have one of these that I'm very satisfied with: https://www.amazon.com/Anker-PowerCore-Ultra-Compact-10000mAh-Compatible/dp/B072MH1434/ For 10,000 mAh it's tiny, it's about the size of a deck of cards.

u/Schwaxx · 2 pointsr/OculusQuest

Light weight, compact, and solid capacity for 30 bucks. Can't go wrong.

3a Version

2a Cheaper

Edit: updated with newer slightly cheaper model and 3a option.

u/roddeeeh · 2 pointsr/OculusQuest

5000mAh is a bit on the low end I presume. If your budget allows it, I'd go with the 10000 one: amazon link.

I ordered mine 10 mins ago and went for the slighly faster charging variant: amazon link.

u/sdrawkcabbob · 2 pointsr/iphone

Soz, didn’t consider international shipping. Was about to link this compact model...

Hope ya find something to suit your needs 🤙

Edit: Here’s a similar one that appears to be eligible. https://www.amazon.ca/Anker-PowerCore-Ultra-Compact-10000mAh-Portable/dp/B072MH1434

u/Trey5169 · 2 pointsr/computers

Anker has one with the front profile of a credit card and the thickness of a wallet.

(10,000 mAh, not 100,000 mAh)

Edit: Their old model goes for under $30, supports quick charge but not Qualcom Quick Charge. Also in a slim version with an upgrade charging algorithm of some kind.

And finally, their newest model for $30, which seems to have a few bells and whistles.

u/jakeruinseverything · 2 pointsr/Gifts

Get him a portable battery. Something like this.

He'll be able to play games on his phone for longer when he's out and about!

u/mnml_wallets · 2 pointsr/Ultralight

Like I said above... The Anker Powercore II 10000

u/userminjo · 1 pointr/OculusQuest

So, I already had this one and it works as long as you have a usb a to usb c cord with decent rating(the cord that work for me was provided by Samsung Note 8 charging cord).

u/thegreatgoatse · 1 pointr/Vive

I just found This one as well, which is 18W output like the first you linked. I'm probably going to order the Vive Wireless soon-ish, might order one of these to try out. Seems like it has basically the same form factor as the 24W Output pack, so it might fit the Vive wireless adapter.

u/heliumhiker · 1 pointr/lgv20

> If I had switched off the LG V20 and charged, it would definitely be faster. Will be doing that test once i reach 0% again on my 10,500 mAH (not an easy task).

I doubt it would be incredibly faster :) 10k mah power bricks w/ quick charge input charge in about the same time.

u/popsicle_of_meat · 1 pointr/GalaxyS9

I think battery cases made sense when charging was so slow. But with quick charging, a battery bank like THIS or THIS can top things off pretty quickly and for less money than a battery case.

https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B072LYPTN5/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Ordered this plus the skull & co neon thumb grips.

Now I guess the only thing left is a portable charger? I recently got one of those anker power banks, does that work for the switch? That anker power bank was probably the best $40 I ever spent, I take it with me everywhere.

This is the Anker power core that I ordered. https://www.amazon.ca/Anker-PowerCore-Ultra-Compact-10000mAh-Portable/dp/B072MH1434/ref=sr_1_7?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1542984263&sr=1-7&keywords=anker+powercore

u/francisdufour31 · 1 pointr/Ultralight

I have this one (amazon Canada, but you probably can find it as well on US site). It supports fast charge input, about ~3.5 hours to charge from 0 to 100% for 10 000 milliamp. Weight is 6.77oz on my scale.

u/DrMantisTaboggn · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

What’s the best deal on a rechargeable battery pack that works well with the Switch right now? I’m looking at this one right now
