Yeah the 2700x would be a step up for sure specially with all the multitasking you do. I'd get a gigabyte x470 aorus or asus rog strix b450 as for ram I'd want 3200 c14 G.Skill flare that ram should work great with the 2700x, and get you the speed you want.

I'm looking for a good ATX motherboard deal. Stopped at this one for now. There's a catch though - I'm using a forwarding service to deliver it basically to the opposite point of the globe, so I want to know that the QA is decent and I won't get it dead on arrival, or otherwise I'd go with Asrock. Are there any better ones in a similar price range/good deals on semi-decent boards?

Edit: For anyone curious, this one appears to be far superior as for a similar price it supports Ryzen 3rd gen (3600 for instance) out of the box.

I would suggest either the Asus Prime x470 Pro or the Asus ROG Strix B450-f. If you want to stretch a tad more then go for the Asus ROG Strix X470-f. As you can tell I like Asus. In my opinion they have better bios options and OC support.

You see, the thing is, I can go days without this power issue occurring. But, like you, when it does happen, it is totally random and seemingly unrelated to desktop application usage. It happens when I pause a YouTube video then walk away to eat dinner, and it happens in the middle of CS:GO matches. It happens after maximizing my GPU overclock and while playing No Man's Sky, and it happens while I'm actively surfing the web. I have found no reasonable explanation, because I've also found it to happen when I have iTunes open while I'm playing a video game. So, even if I can get the issue to not occur for a whole day, that is still not enough evidence that a change of mine has effectively stopped the issue.

I have a 4790K and 980ti and get around 90-100 fps at 1440p. Finding a cheap 4770k or 4790k is probably your cheapest route to a bit more fps. Otherwise I'd probably suggest an R5 2600 for around $160; 16GB of DDR4 Pc3200 for ~$130 and a B450 mobo for around $125. That would bring your total to right around $415 before tax/shipping.
