Yeah I decided to splash out and get an IPS 144-165hz monitor with G-Sync and 2K. Most expensive component of my computer but worth it
Heres the link, ASUS PG279Q
Me who just paid $1000 for a rog 1440p 165hz 🤡
Edit: I didn’t actually spend that much on my monitor, however, I did spend a lot on a new Monitor. Although I don’t regret it it’s a fucking amazing monitor. It’s almost too good for my computer lol
I'd say with specs like you built get this beloved 1440p/165Hz/G-Sync/IPS monitor:
https://www.amazon.com/ASUS-PG279QZ-Ergonomic-G-Sync-Monitor/dp/B07HZSBW7V/
The only thing it doesn't seem to have is a headphone hanger no the side like my BenQ but otherwise probably the best monitor on the market for gaming and not silly looking like some of the other ones.
The updated QZ model is even cheaper ($550):

I just moved to two new monitors this week.
I ordered a Asus PG279QZ for my main monitor, and the Asus MX27AQ for my secondary.
I saw the issue of my main monitor only displaying 60FPS when a video is on the second screen, and also occasional stuttering between the monitors.
Things I tried:
None of the above worked. So I returned the MX27AQ monitor and ordered the VIOTEK GN27DB to use as my secondary monitor.
Its due to arrive today, I can let you know if it fully fixes the issue for me.
I did some searching, found the Asus PG279QZ. It has G-Sync tho. But then again, 165hz!
I got this one that i'm super happy with.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07HZSBW7V/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Note: I got this before nvidia changed their stance on freesync monitors, so you'll not have to pay the gsync tax to get a decent 144hz panel.
Maybe you can help me also. PC specs are as follows-
i7-8700K CPU@3.70GHZ
16GB RAM
GeForce RTX 2080
I’m deciding between these two monitors. I want the best bang for my buck and something that will last me for at least a few years.

There are probably cheaper and just as good monitors out there, but this is the one I got and I'm happy with it.
Thing is.. if u want a G-sync screen, it tends to be more expensive.. this one is also an ips panel.. which also makes it more expensive.
The acer or this: https://www.amazon.com/ASUS-PG279QZ-Ergonomic-G-Sync-Monitor/dp/B07HZSBW7V/ref=sr_1_2?crid=1A2ZLKAWPEZHB&keywords=asus+pg279q&qid=1567570088&s=gateway&sprefix=asus+pg27%2Caps%2C167&sr=8-2
As an owner of the ASUS ROG I will confirm that it is most definitely worth it.
The "heaviest" games I have graphic-wise are Doom, Wolfenstein The New Colossus and Wolfenstein Young Blood. According to benchmarks I read online I should be able to get around 70fps at 4K with those games with a 2080 Ti.
I plan on getting Doom Eternal, Borderlands 3 and Cyberpunk 2077.
I don't play competitively. The only online games I play are Heroes of the Storm (so not very demanding) and sometimes CS:GO (purely casual)
If NVIDIA release a superior Ti card next year I can always sell the RTX 2080 Ti and get the new one. I used to consider going NVMlink/SLI but apparently that's not worth it.
>Imo get this monitor instead and enjoy smooth gameplay rather then the barely noticable picture quality difference between 1440p and 4k. And you save over 1000 on the monitor.
As I mentioned in my post I'm 95% dead set on 4K as I'm used to Apple Retina screens. I just want to treat myself and get the best visual experience possible. And I assume there has to be a noticeable difference in picture quality, if not why would people bother with 4K gaming screens?
But I'm waiting for my local store to put the 4K screen I want on display so I can see with my own eyes before buying. And if I don't see a noticeable difference with 1440p, I will consider 1440p 144Hz instead.
And again, worst case scenario I have 50 days to return/exchange the screen if I'm not happy with it, which should give me plenty of time to test it.
What type of games do you play? If you play heavy games like ac odyssey or tomb raider you can expect sub 60 fps, which will not be a good experience considering how much your spending.
Imo get this monitor instead and enjoy smooth gameplay rather then the barely noticable picture quality difference between 1440p and 4k. And you save over 1000 on the monitor.

The other one, the LG 27GL850, is probably gonna be more difficult to find since it just released. It’s $50 less though.
Thanks! I think I'm going to go with a 1440p monitor. Trying to decide between these ones:

Asus rog swift pg270qz, used for less than 2 months, no dead pixels, how much?
I have this IPS monitor, and I absolutely love it. Use it with an RTX 2080. The picture looks fantastic!
If you don't mind the slightly higher response time (possibility of ghosting [look it up if you're unsure what that means]) than this monitor would be great.
https://www.amazon.com/ASUS-PG279QZ-Ergonomic-G-Sync-Monitor/dp/B07HZSBW7V/ref=sr_1_3?crid=8ZRJSJ42LCF1&keywords=27+inch+monitor+144hz+1440p&qid=1556506960&s=gateway&sprefix=27+inch+monitor+144hz%2Caps%2C354&sr=8-3
If you need absolutely no ghosting, and super fast response rate for competitive gaming you can get the same monitor, but with the TN panel. BUT! The first monitor I linked has an IPS monitor which is renowned for having much better picture and color quality. So pick your poison.

Cheers.

Not quite as cheap as you were looking for, but I’m super happy with this monitor:
ASUS ROG Swift PG279QZ 27" WQHD... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07HZSBW7V
I used to game on a shitty old Vizio TV, I feel you!
I have a similar monitor from Asus, a bit pricier but mine is IPS with a higher refresh rate (165hz overclock): https://www.amazon.com/ASUS-PG279QZ-Ergonomic-G-Sync-Monitor/dp/B07HZSBW7V
Taking advantage of those potential frame-rates in 1440p is pretty difficult though. I have a pretty nutty rig and I don't spend much time above 140 frames.
It also doesn't have the curve. I like it though. I think there's a FreeSync variant that may be a bit cheaper, since there's no difference between that and Gsync these days. Enjoy the new monitor!

Great monitor. I have this and the Asus PG279QZ and I prefer the Dell in a lot of FPS situations (CS:GO, Apex, Overwatch), the response time is noticeable and affects performance.
The colors for a TN panel are really impressive, but it obviously isn't as good as the Asus in that respect, which I use for pretty much everything else.
What's your use case? As the other poster said, it largely depends on that. Though more and more games are starting to support ultrawide, that doesn't mean it actually looks good at ultrawide. I personally don't like play FPS on my ultrawide, but I like it for everything else. I have this ultrawide.
I don't currently use it, but I personally don't notice a huge difference from 144hz to 165hz. Same with the difference between 120 and 144hz. It's nowhere as big as the step from 60-75 hz to 120/144hz. There are a few good 165hz monitors out on the market, so if you're thinking not ultrawide, don't limit yourself to only 165hz. But if you are set on 165hz, the one I would get is the ROG Swift IPS one
Yea, I forgot to add the 144hz part to the 1440p monitor, have been eyeing this one, https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07HZSBW7V , just not sure if its worth getting the $500 GPU now before I even have the 1440p 144hz monitor, or wait until I get the monitor and by then there will another $500 GPU better than the one that's out currently
What kind of monitor do you have?
IMHO a proper gaming monitor is 1/2 of the equation for proper graphics, the vid card being the other half. I use this one with a GTX 1080 w/ G-sync.
Everything looked like hot garbage before I got that monitor. Just a thought.
Maybe the PG279QZ from Asus
It’s 27" 1440p IPS 144hz (can go to 165hz) G-Sync and eye care
According to reviews it’s very good it costs around 536$
The model with the Z has less IPS glow and light bleed

Both have a stand that fits better on my desk, GSYNC in 30-165hz range. Not curved, but I'm willing to sacrifice that.
I just said fuckit and bought this

YOLO amirite
Doing a quick search there was nothing I could find in that price range I did find an ASUS ROG Swift that had your specs +3 inches (27 in) for $550 though.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07HZSBW7V/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_fjJnDbECQW2SE
Also found an MSI for $379, it's also bigger than you wanted (27 in) but maybe the curved will change your mind haha.

You could always try looking at refurbished monitors through Newegg, you can sometimes get some pretty good deals that way if price is an issue.
https://www.amazon.com/ASUS-PG279QZ-Ergonomic-G-Sync-Monitor/dp/B07HZSBW7V/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=27"+1440p+ips+144hz&qid=1563949872&s=gateway&sr=8-3
Anything similar to that would be very nice. Idk anything about ultra wide thoufh.. seems like itd be annoying to game on. 27" is a lot of room for productivity.
I’ve actually been looking at new monitors as well. Debating on a couple...

The price for your monitor is really good.
The other thing I’m considering is keeping my current monitors and getting an ultra wide. So many decisions :-/. Any tips/suggestions? I’ve also see a few 4k 27” monitors for really good prices too. Instead of ultra wide get a 4k and then get a 1440p 144hz to go along with it.
As far as I know there are currently only two choices when it comes to 1440p 144hz ips g-sync monitors (however there are more if you include g-sync compatible).
There is the Acer xb271hu for $550: https://www.amazon.com/Acer-Predator-XB271HU-bmiprz-2560x1440/dp/B06ZXZ3QBD
And the Asus Rog Swift p279qz for $543: https://www.amazon.com/ASUS-PG279QZ-Ergonomic-G-Sync-Monitor/dp/B07HZSBW7V
Personally, I went with the xb271hu. Unlike what some of the reviews say my monitor came with no dead pixels and has close to no backlight bleed.

https://www.amazon.com/ASUS-PG279QZ-Ergonomic-G-Sync-Monitor/dp/B07HZSBW7V/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=ASUS+PG279QZ&qid=1566002041&s=gateway&sr=8-3

if you were shopping for your first gaming monitor, I guess it basically comes down to the 32" v. 27" and the initial 165Hz v. the 144Hz, sorry im asking you so many question im just trying to make the best decision.
This is the one you want. It's the successor to the one you posted, they're pretty much the same, except the one I posted is cheaper but also a little darker. I personally have the one you posted, and it's more than plenty bright, so there shouldn't be any issues with a slightly darker one.

Order 2 of the monitor.
Anyone considering this can get the Asus at the same price. The PG279QZ at Amazon is dropping to $388 open box with blemish and $420 perfect. With Amazons return policy you can’t really go wrong. It’s gsync instead of freesync.
