I like EVGA. Not top of the line, but good cards. I have this card right now.

u/Urano_Metria · 2 pointsr/buildapc

Depends, I threw a 1050 Ti into my 8700K build while I wait to find a good deal on a 1080 Ti or the 1180/2080 releases, whichever comes first. I got a great deal on the 1050 Ti. I bought this one on March 31st, shipped from and sold by Amazon.com for $159.99, and I had gift card credit on my account leftover, so I only paid $93.28.

At under $100 shipped for a brand new card, I'd much rather use a brand new and better supported 1050 Ti than my ancient 2012 GTX 680. The two cards are about on par, but the 1050 Ti has much better driver support.

Yeah, I know I should have held out on building the rig until I actually could get my endgame GPU in hand, but I couldn't wait any longer for a number of reasons.

Yeah, but i would spring the extra $10cad and get

https://www.amazon.ca/EVGA-GeForce-Gaming-Support-04G-P4-6255-KR/dp/B01M5BQRIO/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1479928326&sr=8-3&keywords=1050ti

Just so it has 2 fans, and thus better cooling.

but check that it would fit in the Case first!

u/xamaryllix · 2 pointsr/buildapc

If you seriously want to play games like Rust, Doom, and Star Citizen, I heavily recommend you throw a few more dollars at your GPU. The rest of your build looks bullet proof for your non-gaming needs.

The 1050 Ti for example is a much more capable card and right now can be had for only $20 more at the moment:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M5BQRIO/?tag=pcpapi-20

Not to mention the dual fan open air cooler will likely run quieter because of the lower RPM's and larger overall heatsink.

Edit: Also I would consider the Fractal Core 2300 over the Define C because the Core can usually be found for $40 cheaper, has less wasted materials, and doesn't look as boring (IMO).

Edit #2: Check this build out. A few bucks over budget, but now you'd have a PC that can actually play the games you want to play smoothly at 1600p. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/YzGcvV

  • First thing's first - don't buy that GTX 950 for $250. A GTX 1050 ti is newer, better, and around $140-$150 at the moment. (EDIT - Here's one GTX 1050 ti, currently $160. You have a few other options on Amazon, depending on how soon you need it to ship.)

  • You have two different cases in those screenshots. Between those two, I'd opt for the NZXT S340. I'm assuming you can get free shipping (with or without prime) on that.

    If it's in the budget:

  • EVGA 550W B3 PSU - $60 (instead of the power supply in your screenshots)

  • Western Digital 250GB SSD - $90 (in addition to the hard drive in your screenshots)

Yikes my dude. You did exactly what I told you not to do. Go back and reread my post. It says everything I would respond to this with.

But you say you pissed people off? I don't know that others are pissed, or at least I am not, I would say it's more of just like, "smh this guy doesn't want to listen to the truth." It's your gpu. Trust me. Or don't trust me, trust someone else in this thread. Not that guy who says to get VanillaFix tho, that doesn't fix the main problem.

I will say it one final time:
It. Is. Your. Lack. Of. Dedicated. GPU.

You do realize that vanilla minecraft uses openGL too, like it's not just mods that use it.

If you want anecdotal evidence then I will give you some. In a new world, max settings(with render distance 16), on minecraft version 1.12, pure vanilla, I get around 150-200fps depending on how fast I fly through the world loading chunks, but if I stand still I get from 200-500fps. Those are the numbers that you should be looking for from vanilla if you want to get runnable ftb packs with large amounts of mods

Now on enigmatica 2, I have to download that, because I still haven't gotten around to doing that for playing it in the first place lol

but before even getting the results from that I can again tell you that it is your gpu. I have a worse and older cpu, but I have an actual dedicated gpu

If you're responding, use something about java code, java optimization, java garbage collection, opengl rendering systems, or another graphics library that you think minecraft uses in your response. If you include none of that I am assuming that either you didn't read all my post just now, or that you don't know enough about those topics to comment. If the later is the case, then you should trust the opinion of those who do know enough about those topics to comment. I happen to know enough about those topics to comment, so trust what I am saying, it's your gpu. Get one.

I've got three suggestions for you:
1080ti: https://www.amazon.com/Nvidia-GEFORCE-GTX-1080-Ti/dp/B06XH5ZCLP
1060 6gb: https://www.amazon.com/MSI-GAMING-GTX-1060-6G/dp/B01IEKYD5U
and the 1050ti 4gb dual fan: https://www.amazon.com/EVGA-GeForce-Support-Graphics-02G-P4-6150-KR/dp/B01M5BQRIO?th=1

three difference price ranges. 230, 330, and 1200

If you want my real opinion, get this one: https://www.amazon.com/ZOTAC-GeForce-256-bit-Graphics-Backplate/dp/B07GG9L5X1

it's comparable to the 1080ti. Or if you want something a little cheaper but better than the 1060 get a 1070

Thanks for the reply, I really appreciate it and will take your advice with the 1050 ti. I was worried that a small investment in an older card would end up being a waste when paired with the older i5. I basically just play wow, hearthstone and similar games, so this is reassuring.

Can you elaborate on how to get the biggest bang for my buck in terms of the different versions of that card? I assume I want the 4gb card, but what else should I be looking for? Just an example here:

Thanks a million for your information. I think most of what you said is really spot on. :)

Thanks for the pcpartspicker link too!

> The noctua cooler comes with great noctua thermal paste,

I didn't know about the included thermal paste. I can save like $9 there I guess!

>not sure why on earth you are using such a cooler on a 2600 but pick your poison.

Well I guess you are right about not needing a big cooler for slow power CPU. I was planning on trying some overclocking.

>The x570 gaming edge has terrible power delivery. DONT BUY. I picked something far cheaper that has wifi which is what you wanted.

Thanks for the information about x570. I didn't know about the power issues that it has. I'll have to read about that. Glad someone told me!

> WiFi

I don't actually want any WiFi. I use wired. Ethernet. always for this machine.

> Instead of two 240gb ssds get a 1 tb 660p. Raid 0 isnt all that worth it for general usage anyway...

I use raid 1 actually. Yes that is a little strange but most people's standards. I've had too many harddrive failures.

> Why not get a 3600?

(I guess you mean AMD ryzen 3600). I was going shipper cheap. Save like $80. Then upgrade a year or two later.

> B450 max

I'll check it out.

> GPU

I have an older GPU that I will use. Nvidia 1050ti. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01M5BQRIO/ref=ppx_yo_mob_b_inactive_ship_o0_img?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Again to save some money.

Not OP but it's on Amazon for $150(OOS) or $190(third party seller)

I ended up buying this one. I thought it was the one linked above. Can't get it to work. When it's installed I get no signal on my monitor

u/Llamanator301 · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

I'm trying to replace my old graphics card (a Radeon R9 270) with something similar, if not a little better, and I've come down to something in the GTX 1050 range.

Can someone explain to me the difference, practically speaking, between the Ti, Ti FTW, Ti SC, and Ti SSC? For reference, here's the Amazon page with the four options listed, at all similar price points: Amazon.

Are they all roughly similar? Is there one I should buy over the others? Does it even matter?

u/jhalls13 · 1 pointr/buildapc

Most likely a GTX 1050 or AMD RX460.

If you have the budget if you are in the US the RX470 is a vastly better video card and can find it on sale (RX 570 just came out though, so all AMD cards probably going to be overpriced until they start getting rid of inventory).

Here is a decent price on a 1050Ti.

u/KuroZwei · 1 pointr/buildapc

I'd recommend the [EVGA SSC] (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M5BQRIO).

For reference, Amazon has the same card listed for $259.99
