Well... You could build a console style pc, buy some type of steammachine etc, and buy this.

Or something like this. Just food for thought.

I'd recommend using DisplayLag.com to help you search for a good monitor, as it also explains the difference between input lag and refresh rate and response rate. I personally own a Gaems M155 Mobile Monitor, which has really low lag times as well as great portability. It also runs on one USB cord, which is pretty great when you're traveling.

If you travel a lot, I would highly recommend the GAEMS case..

If you just want a monitor, they offer that too, the GAEMS M155 15"

u/always_zen · 3 pointsr/PS4

This is honestly a temporary solution, as I am planning to buy this

u/Kelmi · 2 pointsr/gaming

They also sell a portable 15,5" monitor with a crisp, detailed 720p resolution that is only 150 bucks.

They value that briefcase at over 200 bucks.

Expensive, but some people can't even assemble IKEA furniture so it's understandable. And it seems to be TSA approved so that's some extra benefit for some.

The product page on amazon answers your question via the "Customer Questions & Answers" section found right above the product reviews.

I typed in "Xbox" on the search field and it found 3 related questions all of which were answered.

The monitor needs PC drivers to run so it won't work on a game console. It also doesn't appear to have video/audio inputs.

___

Outside of getting a standard PC monitor or TV... For portability there are a number of products out there that would work. I would suggest including "portable monitor" and "Xbox" along with your search criteria. GAEMS makes a portable monitor specifically designed to work with game consoles.

I would consider buying a portable monitor such as this as some hotels I've stayed in block the HDMI ports on TVs :-(

Yes! Portable monitors are a thing. They need an HDMI in, though. Regular portable monitors that only use USB won't work.I think the suggestions below are exactly what you're looking for.

I want one of these bad boys myself. I'd get one if the exchange rate to Aus wasn't so bad atm. Also saving for a laptop so can't get one just yet, but hope to in the future. Lots of reviews of them on Youtube and the responses are generally very positive.

Hope this helps! :-)

GAEMS is the only company you want to buy these things from. They make performance cases with monitors that the professionals use.

The [Sentry](http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00A7VK16A/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_RqBdvb0651EM8
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00A7VK16A/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_RqBdvb0651EM8) is the cheapest monitor/case GAEMS. 15 Inch 720p HDMI screen. Heard the Xbox One a tight fit in that model. The next one up is the [Vanguard](http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00H0R9DSG/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_mtBdvb1R2GN4Y
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00H0R9DSG/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_mtBdvb1R2GN4Y). It's got a 19 inch 720p HDMI screen. Unlike the Sentry, it comes with a case shoulder strap and interior case lighting. The Xbox One has a bit more room in the case as well. The last model (that's currently out) is the [M155](http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00P45U628/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_0BBdvb057840Q
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00P45U628/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_0BBdvb057840Q) which is an HDMI iPad-like ultra-light monitor that runs entirely on USB3 power. It doesn't include a case, however for a bit extra you can get a [cool backpack bundle](http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00PFCT900/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_xEBdvb1YQYAZV
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00PFCT900/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_xEBdvb1YQYAZV) for it.

Hope this helped you.

Gaems makes a newer one that I purchased and love it. I'll try to find a link for ya.

Am I missing something?

http://www.amazon.com/Performance-Portable-Monitor-Consoles-console-included/dp/B00P45U628

"...and requires only a single USB for power!"

u/JOplinger · 1 pointr/oculus

Yeah, I'm going to try to build something similar. I haven't built a PC in years, but I don't have a dedicated spot for a typical setup. I'm going to build a small PC to fit into one of these cubes. Finally picked up my case and portable monitor for launching oculus apps / light gaming. Add in a long-run HDMI to the TV, and I should have a pretty flexible VR / Gaming setup.

Tried looking myself and this is what I found.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00P45U628/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awd_lmrQwbB5Q9BCR

Right up your alley, 15.5", within your budget at $145.

u/Mini-ITX-Build-TAway · 1 pointr/buildapc

I'm not interested in an actual monitor, as it would take some hacking and DIY to make it work for the application correctly and store in luggage for traveling.

My other options are something similar to this. Which would work perfectly fine, no issues. But it's not 1080p..

Another one would be this but that's a bit pricey for 1080p.

I was just trying to find a way to make what I originally listed work before settling for 720p, or spending an extra $150 on the 1080p.

u/asciiuk · 1 pointr/xboxone

I'd say look for reviews, if none detailed on the site then check other sites like amazon that might stock and sell the product. If it was myself I would sell the gift card and buy a Surface 3 for a similar price http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msusa/en_US/pdp/productID.314885500?icid=en_US_Surface3_cat_modG_100615 or another tablet and enable game streaming on Win 10 remotely over the internet. That or buy a higher quality standard display/or cheaper tablet and power inverter etc (if required) and fit out my own case for the same price. You can even get a 15.5" Gaems portable monitor http://www.amazon.com/Performance-Portable-Monitor-Consoles-console-included/dp/B00P45U628 for a lot less, get a bag etc and sorted, should still save money.

u/MunkyUTK · 1 pointr/PS4

If you travel this Gaems monitor is great. It runs off USB (or wall power if you have access to it), has HDMI, and built-in speakers. It's very light and easy to carry around.

u/BraveRock · 1 pointr/teslamotors

You are better off getting something like this(and waiting until full self driving autopilot is out).

u/Deep_space_fart · 1 pointr/oculus

I bought one of these a few months back: www.amazon.com/dp/B00P45U628/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awd_8Wb-wb8DEQS30

It's fine; 720p at 60hz over HDMI (not USB, like most portable monitors. It has its own stand/cover thing. Overall the build quality is pretty low, and the screen isn't great by any measure, but it's pretty cheap.

I actually decided to upgrade last week and picked up this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B018DXABEU/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awd_PZb-wbMAXMA1Y

It's quite a bit more expensive but it's so, so much better. The resolution difference alone makes for a much better experience, and overall the panel is way better. I've used it for hours without issue.

u/rtechie1 · 1 pointr/gadgets

This seems to be a lot cheaper than the Hori.

One advantage this has is that it's USB powered, so in theory you could use a USB power bank/battery to power it which is nice.

u/zymesh · 1 pointr/VitaTV

If you can find a screen that has HDMI you can use the PSTVs portability. You can use a PSP charger to USB and use the 'TV's USB or a power bank to power up the PSTV. I have this setup on my other V outside using a psp to usb charger to power up my pstv instead of using one wall socket.

my brother has this portable TV that is powered by his XBOXone USB. But im not sure if that is exactly it. You can get a power bank with a pretty high capacity now so its pretty easy to make a mod of PSTV+HDTV+powerbank.

u/rorking · 0 pointsr/gaming

Well 4 years of PS+ is not necessary to buy outright, and it can also be found for less than $40 usually, let alone $50. Other than that, lifetime of a console is potentially longer before a hardware upgrade is necessary. Also, there are cheaper portable console cases with screens (you actually chose one of the most expensive ones) like this one

http://www.amazon.com/Sentry-Personal-Gaming-Environment-playstation-4/dp/B00A7VK16A/ref=sr_1_3?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1451943511&sr=1-3&keywords=gaems

or this one

http://www.amazon.com/Performance-Portable-Monitor-Consoles-console-included/dp/B00P45U628/ref=sr_1_2?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1451943511&sr=1-2&keywords=gaems

which is admittedly not nearly as convenient, but is cheaper.

Anyway, I'm just trying to say that depending on your needs and habits, consoles can be cheaper, and sometimes simpler to use. Again, they can of course turn out to be more expensive in the long run, I'm just saying it's not always the case.

In the end, I just don't see the point of trying to prove that one option is better than the other, and I don't consider myself superior or inferior to other people based on whether they game or what platform they use for gaming.
