Alternatively, you can get a 360 to vga cable off of Amazon for under $20, which is a much easier solution. It has a stereo output that is separate, since vga is strictly video passthrough.

If it's a 360, get this cord. That takes care of everything if you can use the VGA input on the monitor.

Here you go.

If you have an HDMI port and your monitor is DVI .. then use this one

>Total newbie to the XBOX system here, How do the wireless controllers charge? Or do they just use normal AAA batteries?

They come with a holder for AA batteries (not AAA). You can buy a play and charge kit, and they will charge via a standard USB port.

>Also I plan to use the XBOX with an old LCD computer monitor which has only VGA and no HDMI input.

What is the make and model of the monitor? You can buy an Xbox 360 VGA cable, but if your monitor has DVI, I would get an HDMI-to-DVI cable.

>Also Can I plug in My headphones with 3.5mm Jack into the XBOX.

I guess that would depend on the headphones, but assuming they are just plain old stereo headphones, then no, you'd need something like this, and even then, you'd have to figure out how to control the volume.

>Sorry for the wall of questions.

no problem.

You need an active converter for that to work, you are better off buying the official Xbox 360 cable that goes directly to VGA. That will work better and be cheaper than a converter.

I hooked my xbox to my computer monitor, just a simple samsung monitor, using thus cable, and it works pretty good. Not as good as hdmi, but for the convenience factor it works.

On second thought, don't buy the Xbox Brand one for $40. Get a third party cable. It works just as well. You might need to get an adapter for audio depending on if it comes with it or not.

Xbox 360: $150 Used

Portal 2: About $50

Xbox VGA Adapter: $5

About $250 after everything.

Plug the thing into whatever monitor you have, and there you go. Stop lying to yourself, Portal was one of the best games ever. Don't miss out on the sequel.

This is what I used to use, but again since the resolution of your projector is so low you probably won't see much of an improvement.

Well sense she already has a 360 I assume you want one too. You might be able to find the a cheap older model used at gamestop/craigslist/ebay. If you want the new S model you can get one with a 250gb hard drive for $300 or one with a 4gb hard drive for $200. I would suggest just going for the 250gb.

Hooking it up to a monitor is easy if it has a VGA port. Amazon has a cheap VGA cable for the 360 here. On my monitor there was ghost effect when I was on the dashboard but you couldn't tell it was there once you were in a game.

I can't remember exactly how I had sound but I'm pretty sure I just used this
and used a extra pair of speakers I had laying around.

I've never used any of the keyboard/mouse adapters so I can't really say anything about that but if anything you should get used to a controller after a while.
