Are you referring to the "PS2 to HD" as the converter?
https://www.amazon.com/KOBWA-Video-Converter-Output-Monitor/dp/B01IDC1DXY/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1509645424&sr=8-4&keywords=ps2+to+hdmi
If so, I would not recommend it if you are looking for the best quality video! Because resolution outputs are limited. I'll explain later more on this.
In my experience if you are looking for the best video quality and don't want to spend a lot of money on an OSSC or XRGB mini to de-interlace 480i. I would just buy component cables and connect those straight to your HDTV or HD CRT if you have it.
I've tested two types of component cables on my widescreen HD CRT. Cheap price ones from amazon and the Sony ps3 component cables. Right off the bat you can tell the build quality difference. The Sony PS3 component cables feel heavy duty and shielded vs the amazon Monoprice which feel lighter and possibly not shielded but I may be wrong on that.
As far as image quality goes they both look the same! I was hoping the Sony PS3 component cables would look better but they don't. This may be different on an HDTV, so keep that in mind. I need to test the difference.
https://www.amazon.com/Monoprice-6FT-Component-Cable-Xbox-360/dp/B004C4U1VI/ref=sr_1_6?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1509645667&sr=1-6&keywords=ps2+component+cable
https://www.amazon.com/Component-Cable-Pack-Length-Playstation-3/dp/B000VTX0MK/ref=sr_1_7?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1509645736&sr=1-7&keywords=sony+ps3+component+cables
On top of this, one thing I have noticed is that the colors look so much better on a HD CRT vs an HDTV when the PS2 is connected through component.
If you want to take it a step further I would buy a memory card loaded with FreeMCboot and download GSM.elf. This will allow you force games to run at 480p and there is a definite difference between 480i and 480p. Also you can play at higher resolutions like 720p and 1080i. Since you are connecting to a HDTV you can also force games to run at true widescreen with ps2rdmod.elf
At this point this is where the PS2 to HDMI converter has its limitations. You can't use GSM with it because it will not support anything higher than 480i, 576i, 480p. To be honest I don't think it has the best transcoder chipset to properly convert component to hdmi. I remember it looking blurry on my HDTV at 480i. I never tested it with games running at 480p. Also it has problems when you force games to run at true widescreen.
You will have to look into that further if you are interested.

Thanks for the response. Honestly, the only reason I pulled the trigger on buying these items is because I recently lost the breakaway cable that connects my wired 360 controller to the PC and since I've had it for so many years, figured it was time to try the newer [xbox one] controller.
> but are you trying to use multiple controllers? Seems like the only reason to spend so much to use a wired controller with an adaptor.
Very good point actually... I have NO intention on ever buying xbox one (if anything, PS4) so I really wouldn't be utilizing the hardware at all, however, I did buy Steam Link for living room gaming so that is really my only rationale here... On that note, I could go the PS4 route so I'd have a 2nd controller if I ever got the console, but I don't really like their controller design.
> If not I'd recommend returning both and just getting this instead. It's what I've used for years and it's been perfect. And it'd save you a chunk of change.
Awesome! I might just return the items and do this. P.S. - I already have breakaway cable replacement on the way so worst case, I'll be right back to using good ole trusty wired 360 controller... Thanks again for replying, it helped me organize my thoughts :)
If your TV does indeed do 1024x768 then you should be fine with it.
You should be fine at standard-defintion resolutions (480 vertical pixels) using the yellow (composite) cable that comes with the console, but a component cable should give a sharper picture even on standard-definition (depending on your TV and the quality of your eyesight) and will take full advantage of the resolution of a 1024x768 telly.
If you're buying a new telly soon, then maybe see if you can get away with the yellow composite cable for a while, because any new TV will have an HDMI cable, and that will give a better picture (depending the TV and your eyesight) than component. The HDMI cable will be a bit cheaper, and you'd always choose it over component.
I'm not aware of any gameplay differences between the two consoles. Someone said in another post that the E3 demo units were 360s, so that was what the early development must have been done on, so the title must be better and more "native" to that console. Personally, I don't think it makes any difference.
I have a PS3 (and I actually bought a new PS3 for Rocksmith) and I think it's a better console, from a hardware point of view - I've had my PS3 for over 4 years and it's still going great. Early models of the 360 had a terrible failure rate and I still think of it as a "cheap" console; however the latest slim models look like they've fixed these problems, and they're a fair chunk cheaper than the PS3. I kinda feel like the 360 is less cost, if you just want to see if you get along with Rocksmith.
My copy of Rocksmith hasn't arrived yet, but it's a bargain compared to the cost of guitar lessons. If it works even reasonably well then buying a console to play it on is still a bargain compared to, say, 10 or 20 hours of lessons.
If you're planning on playing your games in a window on your PC, keep in mind that running the video through a capture card may introduce unacceptable amounts of input lag. Every capture card has to introduce some lag, but some cards are better than others. Lots of research and and generous return policy might be your friends. You also may want to consider an HDMI splitter, and playing games on a TV while still recording on a PC.
> I have found that some headsets have a spot to connect the xbox controller to the headsets volume controller.
I don't think I know what that statement means. It seems like you're pretty sure that this isn't what you want. Did you want to hear the Xbox sounds and voice chat sounds through the same headset? If so, then it looks like you can do so with this.
Monoprice 6FT 4 in 1 Component Cable for Xbox 360, Wii, PS3 and PS2 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004C4U1VI/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_1aVBCbC13EWA3
I was going to suggest these but it seems like they’re out of stock. They are definitely worth the wait in my opinion though. Great build quality and they even work for systems like ps3/x360/Wii
http://www.amazon.com/Cross-Battle-adapter-RUMBLE-Xbox-360/dp/B001O89YTU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1370640599&sr=8-1&keywords=xbox+crossfire
This is what you want, you have to use a corded controller (not a plug and play controller either), but, it works great, I've used it on my Gen1 PS3 and I use it on my new ps3. Def a great buy if you like the Xbox controller!
Before I can help, here is the names of the connectors you have. The Blue one is called VGA, and the Cream one is called DVI. The Easiest way of connected the Xbox 360 to the Screen is to use a Xbox 360 VGA cable https://www.amazon.com/Xbox-360-VGA-HD-AV-Cable/dp/B0041D1L3W. The Connector goes into the Blue connector and you will have to use a RCA female to 3.5MM Female adapter https://www.amazon.com/Gametown-3-5mm-Stereo-Adapter-Female/dp/B00ZZGAZJA/ref=sr_1_3?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1474748249&sr=1-3&keywords=rca+female+to+3.5mm+adapter+female
If this is too much for you, just get a computer screen that has at least 2 HDMI ports on it or a DVI and HDMI port on it with a built in speaker. As of right now I believe that the PS4 only can be display out of HDMI so you will have to use a screen with HDMI in it. I will be able to better help in two hours from now, at work.
Best of luck!
get one of these
http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-360-VGA-HD-AV-Cable/dp/B000B6MLTG
and a monitor that has a VGA input and last, youll need to hook up speakers some how.
i recommend getting a full 1080p monitor as it looks great to play xbox on a large screen sitting that close. i have a similar set up with a 27". i sit just 2 feet away. its awesome and get good speakers!
and be sure to check out /r/battlestations
I agree with CybaRJJ here. This is becomming an oddly common issue with Panasonic TVs and 360s. Although I do see Sony having it as well. At this point there really isn't any way to remove it from the blacklist (firmware update has worked for some, but as with all firmware updates... proceed at your own risk).
I would honestly recommend picking up the Component HD cable. I'm certain your 42" supports it and it's 6 bucks on Amazon. You'll get that same HD video, but only stereo audio unless you've got an optical cable to plug into you receiver.
Component cable: http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-360-Component-HD-AV-Cable/dp/B000B6MLPU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1373564366&sr=8-1&keywords=xbox+component+cable
Panasonic Firmware: http://panasonic.jp/support/global/cs/tv/download/fw/index.html
I would say that you might have a chance of being able to use it if you can find a way to keep it cool. I had a friend that this happened to and he ended up using his minifridge as a means of being able to play it. I've also heard that frozen towels are a favorite method as well.
--------------------------------------------------------------
As far as fixing it goes:
--------------------------------------------------------------
Unless you have the knowledge and experience of fixing consoles, you're better off just buying a new one. If you get a new one that is a different model, you can buy an Xbox 360 Hard Drive Transfer Cable (Price will vary) to move your data to your new console.
I got this one a couple months ago when my power supply crapped out. It has worked great but something to know is that unless you buy an expensive one or a MS one you are going to be able to hear it. Sounds like a little dirt bike revving its engine. My tv drowns it out so might not be an issue for you either but just so you know. Also I have heard that if you use instant on for your xbox settings you will be able to hear the power supply even when it's off since it's not completely off. I use power saving mode for that Xbox so I can't say whether that's true or not.
Tl;dr: this cheaper option works great but may be louder than expected. I was still happy with the purchase but YMMV.
sure thing, man! PROTIP: If you have a .edu email account, you can sign up for amazon student, and get amazon prime for free while you're in school. Really nifty.
for original xbox, amazon prime eligible: $56.70
for xbox slim, prime eligible: $50.86
You'll also need a Transfer cable Prime eligible: $7.49
edit: you get 6 months free, then it costs $39/yr, instead of $80/yr
Was the console one of the older "phat" models? Looks like this . If so, and provided is has that kind of hump, you can buy an Xbox 360 Data Transfer Cable . I'd also like to note that this will also work for a slim models hard drive but I don't recall if the slim models came with one or if it was an add in later. Hope this helps ya and good luck.
Either way your monitor will support DVI which is just HDMI without the sound channel. So if you want a digital signal you can buy a simple(cheap) HDMI to DVI cable, but do to the fact that DVI does not have audio you will have to by a third party adapter like this one and plug it into your speakers/sound system.
Edit: The third party adapter is only required if you do not have an "Xbox S" or you do not use digital audio.
You are correct, there is certainly a large sports games market, as well as single player games like the FF series, but even those folks mostly got their 360s with Halo or CoD or BF3 and I bet the large majority of their online players play an FPS. That's why the adapter is a POS hack device by a 3rd party manufacturer, if MS wanted to release a proper adapter they could in a second, they know what it would do to their core audience that buys the gold memberships every month.
That's the one. I have a set of
xp 500xp 400 which are almost the same thing as the tangos, and they work great. Be aware that you will also need to get a chat cable like this as well if you want to use it for chat.Sennheiser 5xx series have a really wide soundstage.
Try this thread for many more suggestions: http://www.head-fi.org/t/534479/mad-lust-envy-aka-shin-czs-guide-to-headphone-gaming-particularly-with-dolby-headphone
I admittedly don't know much about console gaming these days, but can't you use something like this?
Amongst 'audiophile gamers', the Astro mixamp has a pretty good reputation; not the best headphone amp, but for the mixing purposes it does exactly what you want it to do.
Ear Force DSS is a slightly cheaper alternative.
I asked my friend about this setup (he has a similar setup of his own) and said to get this cable instead. He said that the cheaper cables may get the job done but they end up having issues with ghosting, whereas if you spring the $36 for the Microsoft one you shouldn't have any issues.
Either way, thanks for the help.
These are the cables in use, and yes, there are probably a couple of weak links in here:
Xbox 360: https://www.amazon.com/Monoprice-6FT-Component-Cable-Xbox-360/dp/B004C4U1VI/
Wii: Not this exact cable but something similar, 3rd party cable purchased at GameStop long ago - https://www.amazon.com/Universal-Component-Wii-Playstation-3-2/dp/B003SVVHIW/

Gamecube: Offical Nintendo GC cable
Daisy chain link: https://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-Component-Video-Cable-Audio/dp/B01D5H8C4K/
gcompsw to BVM: unknown 3rd party component cable, have had a long time
The "noise" is visible regardless of which source is in use.
Having now typed all that out - would it be logical to first try replacing that unknown component cable feeding to the BVM with another Amazon Basics component cable (I have a spare)? Or are those trash?
Well sense she already has a 360 I assume you want one too. You might be able to find the a cheap older model used at gamestop/craigslist/ebay. If you want the new S model you can get one with a 250gb hard drive for $300 or one with a 4gb hard drive for $200. I would suggest just going for the 250gb.
Hooking it up to a monitor is easy if it has a VGA port. Amazon has a cheap VGA cable for the 360 here. On my monitor there was ghost effect when I was on the dashboard but you couldn't tell it was there once you were in a game.
I can't remember exactly how I had sound but I'm pretty sure I just used this
and used a extra pair of speakers I had laying around.
I've never used any of the keyboard/mouse adapters so I can't really say anything about that but if anything you should get used to a controller after a while.
You need an active converter for that to work, you are better off buying the official Xbox 360 cable that goes directly to VGA. That will work better and be cheaper than a converter.
Edit: Gen Xbox 360 HD 6-Feet VGA Audio/Video Cable https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002DGPNOM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awd_VgX2wbSDHBJZY
That connection is only capable of standard definition TV ( 480i )
At the bare minimum connect via a component cable, it will have the white and red audio cables, a yellow composite cable, and a set of blue, green and red component video cables. Using the component video connection from this cable will allow you use either 720p or 1080i.
I connect one of our Xboxes to our TV with component video and it does 1080i just fine. Our other Xbox is on my desk and connects to my monitor via the Xbox VGA cable and is running at the LCD monitor's native resolution of 1680x1050 and looks very good.
Edit for Linky Clickies :
It wouldn't be balanced for people playing FPS games with a controller. You would basically need a mouse to compete.
I would love to see mouse support on the 360 but I can't see it happening through Microsoft. There is this, but it is 3rd party.
You want to know the name of the trapezoid port? It doesn't have any widely used name, I'm sure Microsoft has a name but its not important. I believe this is what you are looking for?
On a side note, I'm not sure why you are wiring the speakers separately.. most TVs have headphone jacks that you could use for your computer speakers. This would allow you to have either your component connection go through your TV, or (if your TV has an HDMI port) your HDMI go through your TV for a better connection. (if you are looking for cheap HDMI cables here are a bunch of different lengths, and remember, any difference in HDMI cable performance is negligible, if it exists at all.)
The official Xbox 360 brand wireless adapter runs about $80. I bought this one on Amazon for about half and it works perfectly fine.
http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-360-Wireless-Network-Adapter/dp/B003D3OOYY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1377448696&sr=8-1&keywords=xbox+360+wireless+adapter
It is stupidly easy. I just went through with it recently. Went from an old original xbox to the Gears3 xbox. All you need is this:
http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-360-Data-Transfer-Cable/dp/B003S9WJ9A/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1321038009&sr=8-1
Pop out your old harddrive connect it to this, plug it into the usb of the new one boot up and it will walk you through it. Just make sure that you select all the things you want to take over (e.g. saved game data) took only a couple of minutes and I was up and running.
Yeah unless he has the E version of the slim [this] (https://www.amazon.com/Gen-Xbox-6-Feet-Audio-Video-Cable/dp/B002DGPNOM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1480619082&sr=8-1&keywords=360+vga) would be the best option.
You need to study Sunday.
What I need is this cord. It doesn't look like like much, but my nephews don't have one, and I have to babysit them over the summer, and it would make it a whole lot easier on me if they were able to play multiplayer Minecraft. Which you need this cord for.
I installed an after market fan into my friends old xbox because he complained about how loud it was. The new fan had a switch that would make it low or high speed whenever needed. Whenever he would use the low setting on the after market fan and play a game, the console would end up overheat and shut down with the red rings till it cooled off enough to be turned on again.
Not really much you can do, maybe buy some gaming headphones and crank them up while playing.
I have one of the non HDMI xbox's as well. This is what came with my premium(at the time) bundled xbox and is what I am using. Works and looks great.
There are adapters for the ps3 that let you use 360 controllers.
http://www.amazon.com/Cross-Battle-adapter-RUMBLE-Xbox-360/dp/B001O89YTU
Better hope it's usable on the ps4 (probably not) or that they come out with a new adapter.
Alternatively, you can get a 360 to vga cable off of Amazon for under $20, which is a much easier solution. It has a stereo output that is separate, since vga is strictly video passthrough.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B002DGPNOM/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1397109267&sr=8-1&pi=SY200_QL40
TVs with DVI ports typically tend to have audio inputs for the DVI channel, since like you said the DVI port doesnt carry sound. can you look on the back of your TV and see if there are audio input ports labled 'DVI audio' or something like that?
example: http://imgur.com/0KiVvaC
but to answer your question directly, whichever method you use, this is what you need to do. you need the audio breakout cable for xbox 360.
http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-360-Audio-Dongle-Adapter-Cable/dp/B002WIG4LW
from there, if your tv has the audio input for DVI just connect the red and white from that breakout cable. if not, you can attach PC speakers with an adapter cable like this
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B003L14XTO/
You can buy a splitter that plugs into the microphone port on the 360 controller that has analog plugs and then lets you plug your analog headset into them. My friend does this. For example something like this http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-360-PC-Headset-Adapter-PC35-Xbox360/dp/B0035AMM76
Try this. You should be able to find the washers and bolts at any hardware store, but the thermal paste might be harder to find. Before Fallout New Vegas came out my 360 RROD'd, and I fixed it using this guide. I haven't had any problems since. I also highly recommend getting on of these.
Does the monitor work if you hook it up to a DVD player or something else on the same input? If the monitor works fine, the next thing I would try to replace is the video cable. If your monitor has a connection for component video, buy this cable instead, it will give you a much better quality image
Has this xbox ever worked? Was the xbox and display purchased in the same country? The reason I ask is because some displays (UK) use 50Hz while other displays (US) use 60Hz. That can cause some funky images on the screen.
If none of those fix the problem, it is probably related to the hardware or software components on xbox itself (much more difficult/time consuming to fix). Not impossible, just might be easier to buy a used xbox on ebay.
Take a look at the Logitech Z323.
Looks like that will do exactly what you're looking for.
I believe you have to use this VGA cord though with your xbox to accomplish what you're trying to do though.
okay, next time exercise some reading comprehension? but either way, yeah, you don't need the cable now. though I don't know why it would have cost anywhere near $40. it is $21 on amazon, for example.
Here is the one I use, and it works great (no discernible lag). There are cheaper ones out there that work well apparently. Do a search on Amazon for "cross battle adapter".
I need this cable for my YouTube channel. I do gameplay videos, and currently our games don't look very good which won't retain viewers. This will make our videos look better and improve overall video quality.
You can get a VGA out for an Xbox 360.
http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-360-VGA-HD-AV-Cable/dp/B000B6MLTG/ref=pd_sxp_grid_pt_1_1
Then a simple DVI converter if your display doesn't have a VGA input.
I used one of these and it worked great. Xbox will actually output to your displays native resolution too.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002WIG4LW
This is what I use for my Turtle Beach headphones and it works great.
http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-360-VGA-Audio-Video-Cable/dp/B002DGPNOM/ref=sr_1_1?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1406897232&sr=1-1&keywords=xbox+360+vga
This is what I used to use, but again since the resolution of your projector is so low you probably won't see much of an improvement.
psu looks like with added image of your cable it state 100-240V
so this de facto eu plug computer ac power cable would fit the shoe
I'm not aware of a consumer-level capture card that can capture audio over HDMI and a secondary input simultaneously. My recommendation is to switch the cable coming out of your Xbox360 from HDMI to HD Component, then plug the audio from the Xbox360 into a small mixer along with your mic. Then plug the output of the mixer and the HD video from the Xbox into a capture card like this one.
Now you can play the game and talk into the mic, using the mixer to control the levels of each. The whole shebang will then be recorded by your capture device.
Portable screen solution for the Xbox360
XBox 360 VGA Adapter
I would recommend the latter if you have a desktop computer already and an open VGA port - one screen, two functions. Get that with the aforementioned monitor, use the DVI for PC and VGA for Xbox.
This is probably the best option for those who have Wired Xbox 360 controllers and want to use them on the PS3.
I actually use the XCM Cross battle Adapter which I bought 4 years ago for $40. Absolutely no lag of any kind and works perfectly with my Xbox 360 wired.
EDIT: You can find a few of my particular model here on Amazon along with some reviews of the product.
If you have a large amount of data to transfer, the data transfer cable is the easiest way to go.
http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-360-Data-Transfer-Cable/dp/B003S9WJ9A/ref=sr_1_1?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1372548358&sr=1-1&keywords=360+data+transfer+cable
http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-360-Hard-Drive-Transfer-Cable/dp/B005LBDOLA/ref=dp_ob_title_vg
If you don't have that much, a usb flash drive should work fine.
You need this. I think they sell used ones at Gamestop if you want to save a few bucks.
Audio out of the PC is easy:
The Cheap Way using internal sound card
Or using an external DAC
For the 360 it will output audio and HDMI at the same time, there is just a plastic shield over the hdmi port when the component cable is plugged in. Options are:
you can break it off the plastic tab so both the component cable and hdmi cable can be plugged in at the same time or
Get an xbox vga cable
I didn't think the wii had hdmi out so I have no idea what you are doing there.
Here's two other methods you could do if you don't mind spending money:
Buy the Xbox 360 Wireless Adapter (more expensive solution):
Buy a wifi ethernet bridge:
The second option is slightly more involved. You'll have to hook up the bridge to a computer to do the initial setup before it'll work for your 360. The first method is simpler, only requiring that you set up the network settings on the 360.
Unless I'm missing something, you should be able to just plug your headset into the LCD Monitor and let it pass the sound through. (assuming you mean 3.5mm not 35mm.)
The Xbox360 Elite should have a built in TOSLINK ( optical) port on the back. You shouldn't need the adapter (it was for the older Xboxs that didn't have the built-in Optical port). ((EDIT- This is true only of the NEW Elite SLIM Model - if you don't have the slim model you DO want the adapter. - Note that the "official" adapter goes for around $50 new))
headphones like the EarForce X41 use this port for audio (the toslink just goes to their little wireless receiver, which send the signal to the headphones.)
okay I gotcha. And for your xbox, is the xbox 360 that has built in HDMI output? If so what's plugged into the AV output?
It's supposed to work like this, comm audio comes out of the controller, while game audio comes from the console's AV cable.
If your Xbox has the direct HDMI output, then you need this adapter to give the headset something to plug into. Your headset should have include a 2xRCA to 3.5mm adapter cable. You'd plug the red and white (RCA) plugs into the adapter I just linked, then plug the green 3.5mm stereo jack into the other end of the adapter cable.
Does that get you were you need or did I miss something?
If it's a 360, get this cord. That takes care of everything if you can use the VGA input on the monitor.
DD DOES NOT MATTER, ALL YOU NEED IS STEREO You're better off with this:
Edit: use [this] (http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-360-PC-Headset-Adapter-PC35-Xbox360/dp/B0035AMM76)
I'm guessing you're using a HDMI/DVI converter, which of course won't carry sound.
I'm afraid that, unlike with the PS3, there is no way to output audio through a different cable than you're outputting video (unless you count the optical audio out, which doesn't exist on an HDMI cable).
The good news? You can use this cable with your monitor. Don't be fooled by the HDMI nonsense; VGA will be just as good as HDMI!
So I should get this cord?
Xbox 360 VGA HD AV Cable https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0041D1L3W/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_gYvHyb0BK1KXN and will it look clear on my 4:3 moniter?
Don't be silly.
You are using an Elgato capture device with an HDMI cable from the console to the Elgato Correct? Then here is your solution:
Turtle beach model:
http://www.amazon.com/Turtle-Beach-Force%C2%AE-Adapter-Xbox-360/dp/B00B08REVY/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1404968186&sr=1-2&keywords=xbox+360+audio+adapter
generic:
http://www.amazon.com/Audio-Cable-Adapter-XBOX-360-Slim/dp/B002P35JMO/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1404968186&sr=1-1&keywords=xbox+360+audio+adapter
These will automatically output audio simultaneously with HDMI audio
I had the same problem. I bought one of these: which connects to the monitor, and it comes with a 1/8" audio adapter that plugs into my desktop speakers. Works like a charm!
I hooked my xbox to my computer monitor, just a simple samsung monitor, using thus cable, and it works pretty good. Not as good as hdmi, but for the convenience factor it works.
I have one of these Though I wish I had HDMI
The XBox 360 does support analog audio output, if you use the component HD AV cable. It includes analog stereo RCA outputs. http://amzn.com/B000B6MLPU
Which end do you have to futz with? The USB end or the lead end?
After about a year, I had to jiggle the USB end to make it work. Turns out the breakaway cable failed. I replaced it with this. Works like a champ now, and I have a spare.
If I understand correctly, you want to buy a slim and have the xbox with removable hard drive?
If so you should be fine I think. I didn't have a slim, but I replaced my old Elite with a new one and bought the HD transfer cable which hooks directly up to the HD you want to transfer from, and plugs into the USB ports on the xbox you want to transfer to.
edit: This is the cable I bought (not from amazon)
On top of this OP might want to look into the data transfer cable so his son can port over his old HDD without any problem.
I think so. I don't know for sure as I use component cable and it has optical output. But wait, now as I look it seems you can't use both this adapter and HDMI at the same time. This should do it. Thanks to DigiSmackd who posted link to it earlier.
You can get a used one on [amazon](Monoprice 6FT 4 in 1 Component Cable for Xbox 360, Wii, PS3 and PS2 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004C4U1VI/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_HGHxybTP9KCEE) for like $2 bucks used.
If you like the Xbox 360 controller you can get a converter.
XCM Cross Battle adapter I have it. It's awesome. I'm a regular guy, not advertising.
You're gonna need an extra cable for your xbox. It's gonna look like this.
You can use a keyboard and mouse to play xbox 360 games. There's an adapter you can buy.
http://www.amazon.com/Xfps-360-Keyboard-Mouse-Adapter-Xbox/dp/B0010ZH3V8
a transfer cable will work, as long as you get the revised version that has the proper end for the hard drive used by the 360 S and E consoles.
But as /u/bemon mentioned, if you don't have a lot to transfer, it's probably cheaper and easier just to use a USB drive.
Do you have component cables, hdmi or are you using RCA to hookup your Xbox?
As stated the headphones your looking at require a toslink out which is featured on the component cables
Edit: If your using HDMI does your tv have a 3.5mm out (headphone jack)? That would be the easiest option, just plug whatever into there and be done.
You could also use a HDMI audio extractor but most will need an amp between it and your headphones.
Edit 2: This should work if your using hdmi in addition to the turtle beach headphones
Ok, you could get this to go from the Xbox to your monitor
Xbox 360 VGA HD AV Cable https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0041D1L3W/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_5jU4yb5YE14K0
That splits the audio and video into VGA and your audio, then get this to go from that cable to the amp earlier.
BesYee 6.35mm 1/4 inch TRS Stereo Jack Male to 2 RCA Female Plug Y Splitter Adapter Cable 20cm/8inch (635M-2RCAFM) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B017IAY5JG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_pnU4ybX46V48V
Then one of those 1/4" to 3.5m adapters and your headphones.
There's not really a "that old" for the 360. The original hard drives have a transfer cable that works too.
http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-360-Data-Transfer-Cable/dp/B003S9WJ9A/ref=sr_1_1?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1406260628&sr=1-1&keywords=360+transfer+cable
MS makes Makes a VGA Cable for the 360. I personally Bought it to used it on a Computer monitor I have instead of playing on a CRT(MW3).
You'd have to buy one like this:
http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-360-Hard-Drive-Transfer-Cable/dp/B005LBDOLA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1419639167&sr=8-1&keywords=xbox+transfer+cable
There are cheaper non Microsoft ones but I cannot vouch for them.
Third-party hardware enabling mouse support for FPS titles isn't exactly new; accessories like this have existed for quite awhile already. They never really caught on due to the high cost (which this new device will likely suffer from as well due to the $90 price tag) and the fact that it still doesn't allow perfect mouse movement for FPS due to the way that the console games are coded.
You can order an adaptor for that. Turtle Beach - Ear Force Xbox 360 Audio Adapter Cable - Xbox 360 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00B08REVY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_hvIdzbK27SN98 other companies make it too just snagged that on amazon
I'm assuming you are using HDMI? You will need an adapter that allows you to plug in your turtle beaches and the HDMI connector. They cost about $10 on Amazon.
Like this one
official on amazon and its like $12. All your probably going to need is a component to 3.5 jack for audio if you want to use headphones but not sure if that will work correctly. I'd put it through a stereo
If you're trying to hook a 360 to a computer monitor, there's the Xbox 360 VGA Cable.
You'll need an adapter for audio, RCA to 1/8" female if you want to plug in computer speakers.
I can give you more information if this is the right track.
You want to get a 2.5mm (male) headset splitter to 2x 3.5mm female (one for the mic, one for the speaker): example.
You might want this
As you may have noticed, the 360 and the 360S use entirely different shaped HDDs. Sucks for anyone who's upgrading an existing console.
Luckily, MS offers such gamers the Xbox 360 Hard Drive Transfer Cable. This lets you copy the entire contents of an existing 360 HDD to the new 360S HDD. I do not know if it wipes the HDD on the receiving end, but this is the cable you're looking for.
Pseudo solutions like that are nothing but a scam, read the reviews on this thing for x360 for example:
https://www.amazon.com/XFPS-3-0-Sniper-Keyboard-Mouse-Adapter/dp/B0010ZH3V8
I have yet to see something that works precisely and reliably. (I can already see the input lag in the video you linked.)
It can be done
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y9fzM6FlZRM
http://www.amazon.com/Xfps-360-Keyboard-Mouse-Adapter-Xbox/dp/B0010ZH3V8
The XBox controller is HID class just a bit obfuscated, I'm sure you could work out a way to get keyboards and mice to work.
You cannot run 720p (or 1080p) through a composite signal. You need a component cable (red, blue, green w/red & white audio):
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Composite_video
https://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Xbox-360-Component-HD-Cable/dp/B000B6MLPU
Unfortunately it appears your television doesn't have component inputs.
You could try something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Portta-N3CVRHP-Component-Converter-support/dp/B003VJ9RP6 but at this point you're approaching the cost of a more recent secondhand 360 with hdmi.
http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-360-Hard-Drive-Transfer-Cable/dp/B005LBDOLA
Try searching...
http://www.amazon.com/Cross-Battle-adapter-RUMBLE-Xbox-360/dp/B001O89YTU/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1371057747&sr=8-2&keywords=crossfire+adapter
You can buy xbox data transfer cables now that will migrate all your data from the old HDD to the new one.
With a VGA cable adaptor. This is the official one but there are others: http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-360-VGA-HD-AV-Cable/dp/B000B6MLTG/
http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-360-VGA-HD-AV-Cable/dp/B000B6MLTG
Try this i havent personally tried it but plan to because I aswell prefer the xbox controller over the PS3.
There's actually a device that acts as a hub that allows you to use Xbox 360 wired controllers on the PS3. I personally think both controllers have their pros and cons but I was thinking about getting one of these adapters for sports games on my PS3.
http://www.amazon.com/Cross-Battle-adapter-RUMBLE-Playstation-3/dp/B001O89YTU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1310530642&sr=8-1
but couldn't I also connect my keyboard and mouse to the xbox using this?
If you're trying to record the xbox on your PC, you may also consider either a video capture card and this cable : http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-360-VGA-HD-AV-Cable/dp/B000B6MLTG
That would let you hook the xbox to your PC. Then use that to record everything.
Get a native Xbox 360 VGA adapter and run that to a monitor. You can use the laptop to pass audio through its microphone input.

why wouldnt he just use the xbox vga cable? I've been using this for years:
http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-360-VGA-Audio-Video-Cable/dp/B002DGPNOM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1406725862&sr=8-1&keywords=xbox+vga
For FPS games I use a 360 controller with my PS3 (via one of these). I do have the triggers on the two Dualshocks I use for other games (Uncharted etc.).
I think this should work for you
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0041D1L3W/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_ZpGEAbZ269N59
I bought some Monoprice component cables from Amazon. They have connectors for multiple consoles, and PS2 is one of them. I haven't had any issues with video quality.
i dont know but i got mine when i bought my steelseries headphones. I think you can buy it separately. http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-360-PC-Headset-Adapter-PC35-Xbox360/dp/B0035AMM76 this will allow you to talk but wont give you the game sounds, i guess you have to check your local game store
one of these and one of these That should do it.

What you're referring to is the Xbox Audio Dongle Adapter
It works by plugging into the proprietary port beside the HDMI space.
http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-360-VGA-HD-AV-Cable/dp/B000B6MLTG
This is probably what you're looking for.
Get one of these:

this
I put a whisper fan and a aurora in my launch xbox and it still hasn't RRODed.
Here you go.
If you have an HDMI port and your monitor is DVI .. then use this one
This is my plan.

Non-mobile: official on amazon

Yes
I would actually buy a 16:9 display, not a 16:10 one. Otherwise you'll have to live with a letterbox (you can't actually change the resolution of the games).
Also, at least with the old non-slim model (I'm not sure about the slim model), if you want audio, you probably need an "audio dongle adapter", because you probably won't be able to use the audio signal from HDMI (at least if you're using regular analog speakers).
Yeah the problem is caused by the fact that my cable and most cheap cables on eBay/Amazon are not shielded. Just get this.
I bought this and couldn't be happier with it.
Xbox 360: $150 Used
Portal 2: About $50
Xbox VGA Adapter: $5
About $250 after everything.
Plug the thing into whatever monitor you have, and there you go. Stop lying to yourself, Portal was one of the best games ever. Don't miss out on the sequel.
http://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Xbox-360-Component-HD-Cable/dp/B000B6MLPU
This would let you do HD out of the xbox as component. However the projector is only XGA (1024x768) so it will be scaled down to fit.
Edit: sorry meant to reply to your reply, wrong text box
Then buy the old Xbox 360 HDD:
500GB HDD 500G External Hard Dive Disk for Microsoft XBOX 360(not Compatible with Xbox 360 Slim)(500GB)
$60
Xbox 360 Hard Drive Transfer Cable $20
You're probably missing the breakaway USB adapter. https://www.amazon.com/Wired-Controller-Breakaway-Cable-Microsoft-360/dp/B005685BM8
Not without introducing massive amounts of display lag.
Get one of these.
XCM Cross Battle adapter plus RUMBLE
Would this or this work? The pictures are kind of vague and I don't quite understand how the hard drive plugs in.
You will need these. Don't skimp out on a chep VGA cable. I bought one of the knock-offs on amazon and had terrible ghosting due to poor shielding.
http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-360-VGA-HD-AV-Cable/dp/B000B6MLTG/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1377820603&sr=8-4&keywords=xbox+360+vga

I also use one of these for my setup.
http://xim3.com/
The inline adapters I"ve seen were either had bad latency, or ridiculously expensive. Of course I don't know how to shop around other than amazon, and the local game store is out of them.
EDIT : And that one is sold out, as well. :(
Everyone here claiming that a mouse and keyboard would make console games unfair are wrong. What they need to do is add keyboard and mouse officially to even the playing field. Like most things, reality is different then perception. Why?
Because you can use a keyboard and mouse with any game on consoles. I do....

I have both. Sorry to tell you but, if someone wants to use a keyboard and mouse on a console, you can't stop them. That really awesome guy you played with who kicked your ass online? He was probably using an XFPS Sniper. It works great, It's just like using a mouse and keyboard on the PC but with some games you get auto aiming!
All of these arguments are just bickering and bullshit. People have and do use keyboards and mice on consoles. Happens all the time.
Of course I'm so far down in the comments that no one will probably see this, but everyone arguing against KBM are 100% wrong, MS and Sony just need to make it official, they can't stop it anyways......
