This is not covered by the TTB rules regarding keeping records. You can read the regulation here. It does not state that power regulation equipment must be recorded. Note that nothing is reported to the TTB, just that records must be kept. Buying a still or related parts would require records. A power controller kit, not so much.
That doesn't mean they don't keep records though, who knows.
You can just buy the parts off Amazon. You'll need the correct parts. A 40 amp ssr like this plus a 500k ohm pot, and a box to put it all in. You can follow the instructions at Stilldragon.
