This one had good video quality, although the audio was a little less than stellar. I'd recommend the head mount too. It's a lot cheaper than a gropro, but definitely worth the cost over something that only does 480p

I have an ion camera , easy to use and cheap. I am lucky to ride mostly through decent neighborhoods and on a trail. But, I often ride when it's dark and there are parts of my ride where I go through areas of high drug use and homelessness. I don't carry pepper spray or a u lock. I do have a headlight on my helmet that would be really unpleasant to have right in your eyes. I also am lit up like a Christmas tree. I've got monkey lights front and back as well as a luminoodle wrapped around my top tube. And I have a pretty hardcore take-no-shit mindset when biking. If someone tried to fuck with me while I was biking or briefly stopped I would be loud and obnoxious and more trouble than they had anticipated.
Do the self defense if you haven't before. And develop your inner beast. Good luck.

No, because I went with something that had the traditional 1/4-20 mount instead of the weirdo GoPro mount - specifically, this guy. (The wifi feature uses battery way too fast, so ends up going unused, but otherwise it seems pretty good, and I've had it for close to a year now.)

I use the ion camera above, but more for recreational shots, put it inside the net in a piece of 2 inch iron pipe. Definitely not legal for game use, but in an open skate or a pickup game scenario it gives some pretty cool shots. Best part you can link it via wifi and have someone control the cam from the bleachers.

After some research, the Ion Lite camera seems like the best bang for the buck.

It's waterproof, wide angle, aerodynamic and cheap. It's also very simple to start /stop recording. Otherwise I'd recommend the mobius camera or git2
