There really isn't any benefit at all in using the official power adapters. FWIW I have one of THESE between my official adapter and each of my base stations so I can physically turn them off on the wires I keep set up in my home.

I also have 2 each of THESE to power the base stations when I take my set up off-site to run demos and they work perfectly. I also use 2 of THESE to extend the reach of the after market cables, in case there isn't an outlet right by the base station.

I've used these parts since I first got my Vive (I was in the first batch of pre-orders) and it works great!

I bought 2 of these this week and literally just plugged them in yesterday. I found them recommended somewhere on reddit I think, and they claimed the manual recommended them.

Since you ran your wires in the wall, I dunno how useful they'd be, but I figured it might still be useful to you.

This is from the Vive pre/dev kit but should still be relevant....

You only need to turn off base station "B". "C" will turn off automatically when "B" isn't visible.

The headset should turn off automatically after a few minutes. It has a proximity sensor that can tell if it's in use.

I used one of those on my old Printrbot Simple Metal. Just measure the barrel of the plug and get a switch that will fit.

You can add a set of switches for them for $10.

I would instead get a roll of the newer/larger SMD6530 LED's (25 lumens per LED) ($10.99), plus power($5-10) and a simple on/off switch ($4-5).

Brighter, cheaper, and you have the remaining 14-15 FEET of LED's for under shelf lighting or other projects around the house/garage!

Great also for gun safes, garages, etc. You can put a rotary dimmer, or IR motion detector on them as well!

GL!

I use that on the "B" lighthouse. When that one goes off, "C" follows suit a few moments later.

I bought a pair of these cables to extend the power cables for my lighthouses since they were too far away from any power outlets. (At first I used battery packs, but those proved to be flaky).

What I would REALLY like is something like the JacobsParts Manual Inline DC Power Switch for the Lighthouses, rather than for the HMD power line, that way I can go and flip the switches rather than unplugging them every time I'm done. I use those remote power switches for other things in the house and I'd rather not have overlapping signals.

I just bought these today since the bluetooth on/off function is not working for me.

They work great and are easy to set up! Cost maybe 10 bucks for both
