HP Elite Desktop Computer, Intel Core i5 3.1GHz, 8GB RAM, 1TB SATA HDD, Keyboard & Mouse, Wi-Fi, Dual 19in LCD Monitors (Brands Vary), DVD-ROM, Windows 10, (Renewed) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07P14TFWJ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_ddpYDbSNBM62K

I bought this one to play at work when I didn't have customers, like I say, it plays ffxi, just not well. I plan on buying a slim gpu to add to it later, but right now I've just been lugging my Alienware A51m back-and-forth to work since it's my main rig now.

The one you originally posted seems fine but I would pair it with a cheap, low form factor gpu so your playtime will be more enjoyable. Playing with 5-19fps drove me crazy after a few hours.

EDIT: Something like this card added to either the PC your looking at or the PC I bought would be perfect for FFXI, I'm sure they would run FFXI @ a solid 30FPS.

A GT 710 would work.

I was thinking about getting a PC. All my friends are already playing on them.
One was sending me suggestions earlier and suggested this

I just get so busy at times that I hate the idea of spending 600+ on a cheaper gaming PC and not even have time to use it.
The laptop is just something to play while on the road and such for work.

I am dying to play warhamemr 2 and 3 kingdoms.

are there any PC builds that won’t run a ton that? I wouldn’t mind used.

Alright, well it was worth a shot. Something like this would probably do best, and it seems well-reviewed:

You can't.

The power supply is your limiter in this case today.

So I have the same computer, and I ran this route a couple months ago and did the math on the power supply and graphics cards. I found two graphics cards that would technically work, one used 23 watts and the other was 28. A 4gb and 8gb card.. or was it 2gb and 4gb? Either way, both cards would fit assuming perfect specs.

What I learned during my research from a friend that works in the cyber security fields, is that power supplies tend to wane over time. She then showed me quite a few websites talking about this.

Now I don't remember the exact numbers on how much power the Elite 8300 uses by default, but assuming your power supply is 85% efficient then you could fit the 2gb card. Just barely. With just a couple watts to spare. But if your power supply is at 80% efficiency then you can't fit that 23 watt card anymore.

When I tried to look up means to test my power supply I found that it requires some specialized equipment that costs well over what it would cost to just build a new computer to begin with.

On the other hand if you just wanna try anyway, https://www.amazon.com/MSI-GT-710-2GD3-LP/dp/B01DOFD0G8/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=low%2Bprofile%2Bgraphics%2Bcard&qid=1554446634&s=gateway&sr=8-3&th=1

Just know though that it expects a 300w supply even though it only uses 23 watts itself. And if your system isn't putting out enough power to support all your parts it could end up damaging some of your parts.

However, I just opened a thread tonight seeking some help that may also help you. Bit more costly perhaps, but it's my next step in my search to get this computer upgraded.

I haven't considered graphics cards yet cause I wasn't aware, but I looked at some now and I'm wondering if this one would fit my processor and motherboard:

Also do the ports matter if the motherboard already has ports?

How do I tell which type I have exactly. I know it's a 3.2 gig processor 3470, with 8gb DDR3 RAM. I was looking at this to upgrade my graphics card, as I need a low profile card in my PC

Do you think this will hold me over for the short run? I know I need to buy into a whole new computer, but for the moment Im on a budget and trying to get the best for my buck.

Thank you, much appreciated! Just to confirm I'm on the right track, something like this?

I've done a fair amount of reading on plex servers and file sharing, but I still have a pretty elementary understanding so I'm hoping for some critique/constructive criticism on my plans. I plan on supporting up to 4 plex streams all through Wifi to TVs, tablets, laptops, phones. No remote access at this point. I plan on using a NAS device as storage for tv shows/movies/music and it will also be a torrenting machine. Then have another computer serve as the plex media server. This is probably overkill, but here's what I was planning:

File Storage/Torrenting server

Synology 2 Bay NAS

WD 4TB Hard Drive (x2)

Plex Media Server

Micro ATX Case

Gigabyte Motherboard

Ryzen 5 2600 CPU - 13000 passmark

8 GB Ram

Graphics Card

Still trying to figure out the power supply for the PMS. I think 550w should be ample. I also have a 1TB hard drive from years ago that I think I can use with this. If not I'll just get another one. My understanding is PMS transcoding isn't burdensome on RAM, but more processors cores/threads so I made sure I have ample room there.

The one caveat is this will be in the living room right underneath the main TV, so I wanted to try and keep noise level down. Or is this all just unnecessry overkill and I should just look at a T710/T310 dell server as the PMS?

I desperately need a new GPU, since my old one is beginning to fail and I don't think I have enough time to save up for the ever-fluctuating Nvidia 1080 and company prices, so I'm looking for more affordable GPUs to tide me over for a while. I was thinking something like this, or maybe a step above with this. This one might also work for what I want. Right now I have an AMD Radeon R7 200 Series (can't get any more specific than that, no tool I use shows exactly which one but all I know is it's low-end). I can provide additional details if necessary.

I'm not necessarily looking for a major upgrade per se, just a newer card than my current one that's affordable and doesn't cause me to blue screen every other hour.

Hi Guys

Please be gentle, I really wanna play the game

I'm running and i7, 8GB Ram and a nvidia geforce 310 (got the box with these),

I know the graphics card is definately lacking, not even sure if i can play the game on lowest settings, but going to give it a shot.

Can you guys recommend a decent card on the cheap that will enable me to play the game? it doesnt have to be all the bells and whistles, I'd be happy with middle of the road.

Would something like this work ?
