Razer Ornata, It's an amazing keyboard despite it being a mechamembrane. It gets hate because it's a membrane but I personally love the feel of it and the lighting is so perfect. That wrist rest is heaven, best one i've ever used.

Yup. This is exactly the problem. But, it has 'ergonomic design'!

I enjoy my Razer. I understand the hate, but I thoroughly enjoy mine. I have the Razer Oranata Mecha-Membrance Chroma although my boyfriend ordered the Razer Ornata Mecha-Membrane Expert from Amazon.... (Thanks Amazon - I wanted the Chroma over the Expert anyway. :X Merry Christmas to me!)

It's a very comfortable keyboard. I play a lot of FPS or open work games and never have issues of keys not responding. My boyfriend is not use to how clicky it is, so he complains a little about the sound but... I'm very happy with it. Only had 1 issue - which was my own fault! (I was playing with functions and made my A key a macro on accident for... who knows what!) I also have this Razer mouse he also got me.

I have an imac for writing in my office, and the most clickety keyboard known to humans: https://www.amazon.com/Razer-Ornata-Chroma-Mecha-Membrane-Individually/dp/B01LVTI3TO

A desktop computer with a separate keyboard will generally be better for your neck and wrists than a laptop. You can position the monitor at the right height (you aren't looking down, straining your poor neck muscles), and the keyboard can be at the right level without you straining your wrists.

And I have an inexpensive Chromebook (less than $200!) for writing on the go, which I don't do often.

Yeah, I bought a 6ft Thunderbolt 3 cable, I had to make sure the cable had 100watt power deliver and 40gbps so it can charge and have the most bandwidth to minimize latency.

Yes mid-height, this is the one I bought

No problem man. If you do get it its a great keyboard, its not fully mechanical, but its like a membrane/mechanical style. I love it and its the shit. If you decided to save a bit of cash and want the keyboard still, the normal Ornata is on sale for 89.99

Its a great keyboard man. for the price, the RGB is great, and I love this thing man.

Dont think you will find any with lower latency then the type cover. Your other options is Bluetooth, wireless with USB or keyboard with USB cable. If you want bluetooth i recommend https://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-WS2-00025-Surface-Keyboard/dp/B01MQ0SB7Z/ref=sr_1_4?keywords=microsoft+keyboard&qid=1558022734&s=gateway&sr=8-4 , if you want cable keyboard i would go with a mechanical gaming keyboard like https://www.amazon.com/Razer-Ornata-Chroma-Mecha-Membrane-Individually/dp/B01LVTI3TO/ref=sr_1_5?keywords=razer+keyboard&qid=1558022782&s=gateway&sr=8-5 . You wont find another that connects to the computer with pogo pins though that i know off.

oof. Just get the Ornata Chroma then? It's only $60 on a sale (usually 100)

It's a bit pricy but the most comfortable and natural wrist rest (IMO) kb combo

I'm using the Razer Ornata Chroma. It's still got the heavy click of a blue switch, but it's a little more quiet. I still get the click satisfaction, and the RGB lighting can be extremely custom. Also, when playing Overwatch, depending on your keyboard will switch the colour to the colour of the hero which is sick. It also lights us your keys like E and LSHIFT, and flashes to let you know when your ultimate is ready. Overall, I'm extremely satisfied with it. https://www.amazon.ca/Razer-Ornata-Chroma-Mecha-Membrane-Individually/dp/B01LVTI3TO

One of the most comfortable keyboards I've used is the simple Logitech K120 that was a desperate purchase at my local staples when my previous keyboard died. I have pretty tiny hands and find that the height of the keys and how close they are together make it easy for me to reach all of my keybinds in games. I've tried my boyfriend's larger Black Widow and it honestly is a jumbled mess when I try to use it.

The only issue with my keyboard is that it's not backlit, which is incredibly annoying when playing in the dark and trying to type to others in-game.

After being burned by buying a cheap similar backlit keyboard from China that was DOA, I've decided to pony up a bit extra for something with a good brand and warranty to go along with my new build.

During the memorial day sales, I had my eyes on the Logitech G213, but I fear that those keys may still be a bit too high for me.

I'm also looking at the Razer Ornata which seems like it would be perfect, if not for the shame of not having a USB passthrough or side macro buttons at that price point.

Does anyone have any suggestions on a good mid-profile RGB keyboard? Note that I don't want flat keys that you would find on a laptop.

u/gol-d-rogr · 1 pointr/buildmeapc

Hey man I love your build, and you seem to be able to understand my perspective being Canadian as well. After a couple of hours researching every component in your build I came up with this one: https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/user/ezwawi/saved/8qZdmG

NOTES:
I dropped down to the 3600 because I don't think I will use the extra cores and for the price (the saved $200) and specs I think this is more up my alley.

I got 3600 memory but I changed it to the Trident Z because after comparing with Corsair I liked the RGB better (I want just a little bit of RGB so I opted for that option instead of the non RGB, otherwise I would've stuck with yours).

I chose the two pieces of storage (WD and Samsung) because they were the most recommended brands for what they were doing ALTHOUGH I don't know if (for the Samsung) the 500GB would be excessive, as I would be putting the OS on it and my game library wouldn't be very extensive (at least I don't think).

For the mobo I plan on buying the one that you selected but I also found this Gigabyte one, and I only added it so you could see and give me your opinion on it. They're the same price and I think I'm going to have to buy a wifi card regardless. Also the Gig mobo is compatible with the current power supply in the build.

I bumped up to a Gold Certified power supply because I kept reading online that I should just spend the extra couple bucks and go for gold because it's less headache.

For the case... yeah I know, it's a bit more on the expensive side. I do like how it looks however, and once Black Friday comes along I plan on buying extra fans and maybe a liquid cooler that is perhaps RGB. Right now I'm looking at this liquid cooler: https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/product/r7x9TW/nzxt-kraken-x42-rev-2-982-cfm-liquid-cpu-cooler-rl-krx42-02 . But again I'm going to wait and just use the stock cooler, because I think that will be enough considering I won't be over clocking.

Please let me know what you think and I apologize if I changed too much for your liking. You really helped me out!

Could you give your thoughts, criticisms, suggestions? Also any recommendations for peripherals would be very very much welcome! This is what I am thinking of ordering. It doesn't say 'green', but it obviously is green in the picture.

This is the other one..

It's currently out of stock, but for someone who has never really owned a mechanical keyboard, would this hybrid be a good jump? I already have a Razer Deathadder Essential, so the transition into Razer Synapse would be seamless. I've used my roommate's reddragon mechanical keyboard and enjoy it. Is the mecha-membrane that different?
Link.
Thanks for the help!
