This seems more like a feature of the TV than the headphones. I'm assuming most TVs will cut the sound to the speakers once headphones are connected. I'm not sure what this dual output would be called as a feature.

You might be able to get something that splits the audio from HDMI, but that would obviously only work from external sources.

ie this https://www.amazon.co.uk/Tendak-Optical-Extractor-Converter-Splitter/dp/B00Y0920B4/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1466272354&sr=8-3&keywords=hdmi+audio+splitter

And then a pair of wireless headphones with a base station that take RCA or optical. I'd imagine most of the "decent" headphones will do this but check the specs.

Could this help?

You can throw away the sound bar and replace it with a receiver and proper speakers. You could also upgrade your TV and use its optical out. Lastly you could be super ghetto and daisy chain HDMI switch to an HDMI splitter. You would then need to throw away whatever old device you have that didn't use HDMI.

Laptop HDMI output > HDMI to HDMI+Optical Audio outputs (Tendak HDMI to HDMI and Optical TOSLINK SPDIF + Analog RCA L / R Stereo Audio Extractor Converter HDMI Audio Splitter Adapter(HDMI Input, HDMI + Digital / Analog Audio Output) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00Y0920B4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_gj4SBb4XWJEG0) and then connect that HDMI output to projector and optical Audio to your stereo. Some protectors do include an optical output and that device would not be needed but you will likely severely limit your choice of projector.

Regarding casting to a painted wall it will really depends on how smooth that wall is. Any texture will create shadows and irregularities in the image.

For digital receivers with digital inputs, you have to use a digital sound passthru. In your case, I recommend using something like this. Just take your PC's HDMI, plug it into the box, and then use the box's toslink output to receiver, making sure "pass through (or passthru)" is set.

This adapter worked great for me. I already owned XBox branded Astro A50s and had the same problem connecting it with the PS4 Slim.

You could try one of these if you don't want a receiver.

you could run the switch HDMI to a box that splits the audio signal out to TOSlink, and then use the TOSlink input.

What you can do it hook up an optical cable from the TV to the soundbar and then change a setting or two on the TV. This is how I get audio from my LG to my receiver. I think that would allow the Roku TV remote to change the volume, but I'm not 100% sure.

I'm not sure there's such a thing as an optical to ARC converter. There are devices that have HDMI in/out and then an optical out, basically it extracts the audio from the HDMI and inputs it into the optical. I had pretty iffy results from one of those though.

Edit: here's the extractor thing I mentioned.

Edit2: The setting on the TV you probably need to enable is HDMI-CEC or HDMI control. Also you have to make sure the HDMI input is ARC enabled, sometimes only one port is ARC enabled.

HDMI audio is preferred but it sounds like that isn't an option because your tuner doesn't have any HDMI inputs. If your tuner doesn't support HDMI inputs then try plugging it into your TV and passing the audio out of your TV to your receiver with S/PDIF. Preferably by an optical cable but a coax cable should suffice if optical isn't an option.

If your TV doesn't support that then I don't really know what to tell you. I would recommend an HDMI audio extractor but none of them seem to support Dolby Digital Plus.

If your TV doesn't support passthrough audio then your best bet is getting a Roku 4 (the only Roku with S/PDIF optical audio out).
