I just installed one for my garage 10 days ago!

A few things that I learned:

  • I don't want the kind of pegs that you have to screw in place, at least not yet until I figure out after a couple years exactly where I want everything
  • Hooks are more price than you'd imagine, so look for places that you can get them in bulk, especially if you have 2 of those 8 foot sections. I really like this set from Amazon - 100 hooks (50 J hooks and 50 angled) for $14. Here's a link. I really like that they're 1/4" hooks, and they're made to fit tight so that they stay sturdy in place.
  • I painted mine since I got those ugly brown ones. I can look up the exact kind of paint, but found a nice metallic top coat spray paint that looks really good. Here's a pic from before I got all my hooks
  • Check out Home Depot for some hooks to try out. My favorite from there so far is the peg version of this hook, and it's only like $3

he could have paid a fab shop to make them, but screwdriver holders will serve the same function.

here's a DIY version, you'll just need to drill the proper diameter to accomodate your brushes

here's one that's ready to use: Screwdriver Storage
