I'm dealing with a similar set of questions relating to cpu/gpu and ports with my new RB15. Have a 4K display that I want to output to, and on top of that, I need a gpu-routed port with which to connect my Vive..all of this simultaneously.
I have a thunderbolt to hdmi adapter that I thought would do the trick (link) However, I've concluded this not ideal, as whatever's plugged into by HDMI via that adapter is controlled by the Intel GPU. I need a new adapter/cable.
What I think will work for me is using the Blade's HDMI port (GPU) for my 4K panel, and a mini displayport --> hdmi cable for the Vive. Hope to try/confirm this is my optimal configuration today or tomorrow. Idk if this helps you, not sure I can envision a solution that works given your question in the title. But yea you're not alone trying to figure out this insanity.
I use this with my DeX station. Neither the Phone or DeX station notice or care about it being there. Still charges and acts like it is not there.
