This is a case with a built-in charging stand and L-shaped aka right angle USB-C to USB-A cable. It is not a dock, as it has no HDMI out. It does not include a power bank. Nor does it appear the manufacture offers a power bank. There is no built-in USB-C connector. The cable itself threads into the case and is the connector.

You would need to provide a USB-A power bank. With USB-A you won't charge while playing many games, but it would extend your playtime by a few hours. It would also charge the Switch okay while asleep.

Good quality USB-C to USB-A cables cost ~$6-7. AUKEY has some on sale for $3. I don't know how well I would trust the cable included in a case selling for $4 total. No sign the USB-C to USB-A cable has the recommended 56k Ohm resistor.

As the cable is not built into the case you could replace it. That and a good power bank would mean no potentially bad electronics to deal with. This USB-C to USB-A cable as the same right angle and lists having the 56k Ohm resistor. But it only comes in a 3-pack.

While you're swapping pieces you could also try a USB-C to USB-C right angle cable, such as this one. I couldn't find a USB-IF certified C-to-C right angle cable with a quick search. With this you could use a USB-C power bank. I don't know if I would trust the outer strap to hold a 20,000mAh model. But the Anker PowerCore 13400 Nintendo Switch Edition or AUKEY PB-Y13 could work.

Of course all that assumes you like the case as a case.

If you want to look at power bank options I have USB-C and USB-A models listed here with some reviews.

https://www.amazon.ca/Neewer-Microscope-Magnifier-Universal-Blackberry/dp/B00JHE5ZS2 these guys are awesome and they clip onto your phone to take some sexy snaps!

Amazon is selling this set:

So it looks like 30mm and 30.5mm are indeed 2 different standards.
I'm a bit in the same boat as you are: I'd like to order a set of 5x and 15x eyepieces from Ali but 99.9% I find are 23.2mm and 30mm, no 30.5mm.
I don't want the eyepieces to have too much play and 0.5mm is a pretty big difference in my opinion.

60x clip-on I use with my iPhone. Got mine at a local grow store but Amazon has the same one.

Took a bit of playing around to get the focus right but it's good enough in most cases and for <$10 it's a cheap way to check your trics.

I am quite new to playing with microscopes myself, but for what it's worth I had a similar price range in mind when I bought mine. I ended up selecting an AmScope M150 ($87 on amazon) and a cell phone mount for pictures https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07412S738/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s02?ie=UTF8&psc=1 ($26). Alternately, if she's got a decent camera there are also DSLR adapters.

There is a more expensive version of the same scope ($140ish) with a usb camera, but the camera specs are inferior to just about any pseudo-recent cell phone.

While I cant say how well this scope compares to professional equipment, I'm happy with the purchase.

The web design might make your eyes bleed, but [here] (http://www.microscopy-uk.org.uk/mag/artdec07/rp-dslr.html) is a resource, google DSLR and microscope. Look into getting an adapter kit like [this one.] (http://www.amazon.com/AmScope-CA-CAN-SLR-Camera-Adapter-Microscopes/dp/B005OZ5NXU)

That looks like it's the exact model Chinese knockoff scope I started on. That one takes Nikon/Olympus -sized objectives, so you can put good optics on it. You can jury-rig a polarizing setup on it, thought it's not really built for it.

You can hook a full-frame DSLR to it with no vignetting by using various magnifying adapters or extension tubes.

u/NoFlyingMonkeys · 5 pointsr/pathology

I've had the same problem on and off for years due to certain light triggering migraines. Only 2 solutions that I know:

  1. Less light: Have you dialed the light source of the microscope down as low as possible? It really doesn't have to be bright. When I had to look on the "group" microscope and had no control over the light, I actually used sun glasses when I was feeling a migraine coming on. Reducing the light helps a lot.

  2. Adapter: There are adapters for the microscope eyepiece so that you look at a screen instead. Ask the path prof if there is a professional one within the path dept. that you can borrow for your lab time. If that is not possible, you maybe can buy the amateur variety for your cellphone for about $200, but you MUST ask the path department permission before you buy it, and ask then them to place it on their microscope so you don't damage the 'scope placing it.

I use a type c with 0.5 x reduction. Works well for me. I don't use a Nikon though, so can't speak for that compatibility.
