I brine wings prior to smoking. Right before they're finished in the smoker, get a nice hot fire going on the grill and prepare your sauce. I've found it easiest and fastest to put the sauce in a coffee mug or similar and just dip the wings while you transfer. This is because they'll finish pretty fast and you don't want to take too much time with a brush. The glaze should set and the skin crisps up.

If you like a little color like I do, use a sugary component in the sauce to get a little char. My secret ingredient that no one will ever guess is pomegranate molasses.

Some people use brown sugar, some use this. There's people who use soda, but I'd be careful of using something like that even after you pH bc it has a ton of other things in it aside from syrup and water.

You can use Gosling's Black Seal and drop a little molasses in the drink you want (like .25 oz), that might do the trick.

Blackstrup is SUPER molasses'y and gosling's is more high-end dark rum. So you gotta balance it out.

you can find blackstrap molasses at any health food or natural foods store. (regular non-blackstrap molasses doesn't have the iron content)

Maybe not what you’re looking for but I brewed a pseudo-Berliner using a traditional grist and added a couple bottles of pomegranate molasses during fermentation. Little to no pomegranate flavor came through in the end product but it was tart and to style in that regard. If you want to try that make sure you get pomegranate molasses without added sugar or preservatives.

That's for you to eat, for culinary purposes. You are looking for horticultural molasses, or black strap molasses.

I'm on Lucas Formula with the GH nutes. I have some autos going too who aren't such a fan of the Lucas Formula though. They're very cal hungry.

As for suggestions, I use Silica Blast at 5ml per gallon:
