I lived in a 2 bedroom with 2 kids under 2 and was the primary cleaner so I know where you're coming from. With a 5 mo old you're going to be cooking/cleaning all the time. That said, organization and clearing clutter are your best tools. Here are a few tips outside of that. Get a toy basket for each room that your kid will be in regularly so you have a place to put toys without walking all over the apartment. A shower curtain liner like this with mesh pockets kept our tiny bathroom from feeling overwhelmed with kids toys. We also had an over the toilet freestanding shelf like this because there were no other surfaces but YMMV. I completely understand not wanting to buy more things on a simple living subreddit. Keep food to the kitchen/dining room as much as possible. For cooking clean as you go and/or use one pot recipes like these to minimize cleanup. We made the first chicken one Sunday and it was great. Build your repertoire of easy quick recipes /r/budgetfood/ /r/slowcooking/ /r/EatCheapAndHealthy/ . I hope that helps.

Hooray for clickbaity titles!

For #3, I have this bed frame from IKEA. I'm pretty sure it used to be called the Brusali. The under storage is great. I bought drawer sets for both sides of the bed but only built/use one side. So it looks like it has that minimal profile with all my storage needs.

I also really like the over-toilet storage idea. Originally I wanted a ladder shelf like the one pictured, but I think this one from Amazon is nice, and it matches my bathroom cabinets. I wish I had high enough ceilings to take advantage of that over-doorjamb storage too.

We had a fire in the bathroom and lost our wooden over the toilet storage, shower curtain, rugs and toilet seat. Now were having to replace all of the items but that gets spendy lol Were going piece by piece here. Sooooo it would be AWESOME if we could get that item :)

I chose my username because my lastname is Hensley and I was born in 1981, so, misshensley81 sounded right lol
Thanks again!

In my studio I got lucky with storage but I know that I would get this bag holder as well as collapsible kitchen essentials. A slim trash can helps. If your bathroom has no storage, something like this can help. Hang your spices on the cabinet. Use this in the shower if you need more space. XD I use command hooks near my front door to hold my keys and daily jacket. :)

Maybe something like this would help. Utilizing the back of the door for makeup storage is helpful as well. Maybe something like this . Can you put a small ledge by the outlet to put your toothbrush on? That would save a lot of space. something like this. I have one of these for my hair dryer and it helps save a ton of counter space. It's small, but doable especially if you're the only one using it. I hope some of my ideas help.

We have something like this. Do you have room for that?

I keep things organized in some clear baskets and some fabric baskets. And then some things in little canisters. I think it looks pretty clean and not cluttered.

I keep things like cleaning supplies, extra supplies, and a water bottle for plants underneath our sink.

This rack would be good for spices and maybe this for organizing lids to pots as they always take up so much space. I would put spices in cute bottles.

Cool looking shelves would be a attractive way to get a little more storage.

You didn't mention needing anything in the bathroom but I have found in small spaces something like this over the toilet is really helpful. You can also get them with cabinets instead of shelves if you want to be able to hide stuff.

Over the toilet bathroom storage. Save your precious counter and cabinet space for important things. Hide the other stuff here.

We have a wall mounted one in our new place and I store our toilet paper there so there are no issues..

I have a wooden shelving unit from Ikea that stands over the toilet; I have some big natural fiber baskets to hide all my junk in and it lets me keep my towels within easy reach.

I'm not sure the aesthetic you're going for but I found this one on amazon that even has a cabinet!

I have a similar bathroom. It's longer, and has a wall with door where you are standing in the photo. I plan on ripping the walled space out, like you have.

If you need more storage, have you considered something over the toilet? http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00B5H9CJW/ref=s9_hps_ft_g201_ir02?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=center-3&pf_rd_r=0CFNVC7A9JC475ZD97B2&pf_rd_t=1401&pf_rd_p=2012895562&pf_rd_i=1000994781

The trophies need to go somewhere else for the time being. Amazon has over the toilet shelving, or you might want a cabinet if you prefer everything hidden.https://www.amazon.com/2523NN-Bathroom-Spacesaver-Nickel-64-6-Inches/dp/B000MF462G/ref=sr_1_2?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1473253409&sr=1-2&keywords=over+toilet+storage
