Hi there. I see what you're going for here and I like it. Loungy. I would like to offer another perspective. I think I'd actually get another mattress/futon to put there and a couple of these: http://www.amazon.com/BedLounge-Classic-Regular-Natural-Cotton/dp/B006VQQOV6
This way, you could still utilize it as a bed, should one of your homies wanna crash and it takes away the awkwardness of trying to find a couch that embraces the platform height.

Yep. I had an arm's reach cosleeper and could not retrieve the babbu out of it without help for the first week.

I have two recommendations to make it a little easer.

  • For breastfeeding in bed I recommend a reading pillow like one of these. I bought one for like 10 bucks at a big box store - your abs will be absolutely useless for a while and it helps to be propped up.

  • A stepstool. Granted my bed is a little higher than most, but I had trouble getting in and out without a step up.
