K.I.S.S. Keep It Simple, Stupid. Words to live by!

Gloves. Just your standard Nitrile gloves. I have a box in my closet with about 5 pair in my truck. Although with Texas summers here, I'd bet they've melted together by now. I should really check on that...

Safety Glasses Any brand will do. Just look for ANSI Z87.1. You'll probably never use them, or 90% of what's in your bag, but they're nice to have on hand.

Knife w/seat belt cutter & window punch. This is mine. I keep it on my trucks visor when I'm driving, and on me when I'm not. Cheap and useful. A little big though.

Simple Breathing mask. Always good to have around.

Gauze Rolls & Gauze Pads. I've used these a couple times, all on myself. I have the uncanny ability to fall when running outdoors. It's truly a gift.

Large SAM Splint. Surprisingly I've used two in only a year of building my kit. Once for myself, colles fracture from tripping, and the second time for a friend who slipped in my kitchen. We're not the most coordinated bunch.

And if you're feeling adventuress (sp?), Emergency Blanket, Cold Pack, & a Hot Pack. These aren't necessary, but nice to have if you have some extra $$$ to burn.

This is all i carry in my truck medical wise. It's also a good idea to have a flashlight on your vehicle or in the bag. Don't waste money on anything "fancy". You'll never use them and if you do you'll probably get sued.

I received a pre-stocked jump bag from a family member as a gift for getting my EMT cert. Came with OPA's, C-Collar, Adult/Pedi BVM, & a couple suture kits. These are no-no's. Good Samaritan laws won't protect you if you use these. DON'T BUY/USE THEM WHEN NOT ON A RIG! (The suture kits are another matter...just don't) I took these out of my bag completely.

TL;DR K.I.S.S. Avoid anything a non-EMS person couldn't use.

Its ok, Several things to note. Like I saw mentioned before, open that TQ. Get nitrile gloves in an appropriate size, Large size recommended. 4X4 gauze pad or/and 5x9 ABD Pads, and one crucial one that everyone doesnt get is a pocket face mask. Hands only CPR great but CPR with Oxygen is even better. On that topic, get CPR certified by the AHA, its a really simple skill that can save lives.

Get your butt in gear! I love yoga, but not in front of people, so this would be great.

or

All the crafty things! I'm going to make soap!

or

Gag me! I like messing with people and honestly, parking violations REALLY tick me off. This would be great for people that park in handicap spaces with out a placard. I hate those lazy bums.

or

Things you need for the apocalypse The apocalypse is coming, best to be prepared!

or

Do you even know how to use that? I'm trained as an EMT and the one I carry got popped.

I could keep going but I'll stop there, I like this one!

follow up- he didn't recommend brands - I know NAR (north american rescue) is generally well respected - but I don't know what other ones to suggest. Don't take the brand as gospel - just the product type:

Tourniquet: - https://www.narescue.com/adventure-rescue-products/combat-application-tourniquet-c-a-t

Compressed Gauze: - https://www.narescue.com/adventure-rescue-products/nar-s-rolled-gauze

airway: - (i know nothing about which of these is best - other people here seem to know more so take their recommendations): https://www.narescue.com/pre-hospital-care-ems-products/airway

Compression bandage: - https://www.narescue.com/pre-hospital-care-ems-products/massive-hemorrhage/emergency-trauma-dressing-etd

CPR Mask: - https://www.amazon.com/Keychain-Emergency-Shields-Breathing-Training/dp/B074QG5XYW/ref=sr_1_5_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1537897381&sr=8-5&keywords=CPR%2BMask&th=1

I think this was everything he suggested. The gauze I think I am imagining - but I am certain about tourniquet, airway, compression, and mask.

Someone asked about what ankle kit I carry - its this one:

https://www.amazon.com/Ankle-Medical-Kit-Made-Trauma/dp/B074CR6F72

I have big fat ankles and it fits fine and doesn't make my pants weird. I'm 6'4'' 338 lbs for reference with a US size 42 pant.

You can get a CPR mask pretty much anywhere. Here is one from Amazon. "Not shield" just means don't get one that is just the foldable plastic ones like so, most likely because you will be practicing with them and those are just single use.

u/squirreltrap · 3 pointsr/Septemberbumpers2017

Nice! In addition to the ones I've gotten from my classes I bought several more of these masks to keep on every level of my house and in my cars. I'm a little over prepared but I guess that's maybe better than not prepared at all!

u/Redditing_on_toilet · 1 pointr/todayilearned

Just so everyone is aware- there are serious concerns with giving someone mouth to mouth breaths without a barrier device. Would not recommend 0/10

If you are trained in CPR it doesn't hurt to carry one of these. Takes up one side pocket.

MCR Medical CPR Rescue Mask, Adult/Child Pocket Resuscitator, Hard Case with Wrist Strap https://www.amazon.com/dp/B008NP66UW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_HswTybNBHTES0

> good, small, cheap bag

Stuff the gloves in side the hard case with the mask. Throw the hard case, sealed Izzy bandage and TQ in a gallon-sized freezer bag?

I would recommend a CPR shield and maybe a water purification straw and I find a change of clothes comes in handy from time to time.

u/speedplayfrog · 3 pointsr/Homebrewing

You bought a high pressure oxygen cylinder from a welding supply company? That will require an oxygen specific regulator, CGA540, if I am not mistaken. The thread is backwards to make sure you don't use a regulator for nitrogen, CO2, etc.

Edit for link

u/Anenome5 · 1 pointr/snoring

Try her on this mouthpiece, it worked for me:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000FVXMFE/

$15, no appointment needed. Completely stopped my snoring, comfortable to wear too.

u/CNCTEMA · 3 pointsr/Firearms

I keep two of these, and two of these and a few of these

with me at almost all times. I think comes together for less than $100 and would cover most serious injuries.

edit, or maybe $150ish

u/Dakota360ci · 19 pointsr/videos

This is why everyone should keep one of these in their cars, backpack, wherever. It costs $8. No mouth-to-mouth contact needed. This nurse obviously had one, and most EMT's, medics, police, and so on also keep them in their personal cars I presume.
